Thats because he wants to complete the story of the game before releasing it on steam. Most likely Huli will create something that will differentiate the free version from the steam version. What we are getting now is technically comparable to an early access.

Most likely it will be like this, first the release will be received by Patreon, then on Steam, and then the Steam version or Patreon version will be uploaded here.
