Obviously, Christmas stories have been around far longer than Peanuts specials. "Twas the Night Before Christmas" was from the late 1800s. And of course, the Christian part of the story goes back ~2000 years.
I was thinking in terms of specials, as stated in the previous person's post. And, also obviously, having a little fun with the idea.
The dumbest part is that Halloween and Christmas actually exist, so like... why not incorporate them into the story, at least once? These are obviously western developers, I don't think anyone would be offended, and I think the perfect Christmas present would be the prize pussy we've been chasing for years of development. Like why can't Abby give it to MC for Christmas? That shit happens all the time in real life... big events are often times when people start relationships. Valentine's Day, Christmas parties, Chanukah parties, Kwanza parties, Halloween parties, ffs Halloween is when all the sluts come alive! Just look at social media posts on Halloween, it's sluts as far as the eye can see.
If they really wanted to do something creative and fun, find a way to write a holiday into the story. It would at least be something that no other dev is doing, because they're all busy with, as you so succinctly put it, "all this Halloween and Christmas special bullshit."
Most VNs are written with a timeliness that runs slower than reality. Once they tie the story to a particular date, it can be difficult to maneuver things to tie to a second such date. For instance, if you have a Christmas event one year, and want to have a Halloween event the next year, it's entirely possible that only a few months will have transpired, if that. To make sense, the event would have to be an out-of-season party (My Dorm had a Halloween party in the early summer, because the MC was away at college on the previous Halloween), or something like a dream sequence. People complain about dream sequences; spinning them out into a separate app alleviates that problem.
TL;DR - Fitting in one holiday is, in most cases, easy; fitting in a second can be very hard. A special with an out of Canon story will often make fans happier than including, for instance, a dream sequence.

You're absolutely right - even in comics (whether comic strip, like Peanuts primarily was, or comic books) Christmas stories appeared long before the 1960s.
However, note my reference to "Peanuts specials." I was explicitly referring to the Peanuts TV holiday specials. Even there, A Charlie Brown Christmas isn't the first - I see a reference to a Disney Christmas special televised in 1950, and Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol being the first animated special, airing in 1962. Even just considering what would be the longest running/best remembered specials show Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer debuting in 1964, with Charlie not showing up until 1965.
Still, when it comes to long-running holiday specials featuring characters who appear throughout the year, and characters who have both Christmas and Halloween TV specials, i do think the Peanuts specials are what most people will think of first.
And, again, it was a quick, silly joke of a comment on my part (after all, you were clearly talking about holiday specials for adult VNs).

here is my unofficial Android port of Fractured fairy tales v0.4.
from now on my Android ports of Ren'Py games have a 2nd, persistent save location like Windows. if you uninstall an app, the save files and persistent data remain intact.
therefore the app needs the permission to access the public external storage (or a new one on Android 11+), because it has to read and write outside its own external storage directories.
you have to grant the permission or the app is shut down.
