I thought LBH had a good start, theme, and characters. But an interesting plot never really developed. I thought the ritual was going to serve as the conflict, struggle, and/or mystery here, but it didn't happen.

I'll venture a guess that the author might have had more planned. But there are certain risks to adding conflict that will upset the patreon-base, which I understand is risky for the author.
Yes, while I played I had this feeling that he had plans for a deeper story, but for some reason he gave up and gave superficial and quick endings to the game. But I did not imagine it could be because of the patreon base.

I don't think it would be the patreon base as one of his more popular games was My Girlfriends Amnesia which had NTR hidden so you had to unlock it to view it. I think he wanted to do a lot more until the Jason/ Rose scene at the end of 1.5 the fall out from that meant he got a lot of insults from people (including a member on here) on his patreon page. I think that started to spell the beginning of the end for this game as he was not being allowed to create his game, in fear of not acquiring new patreons.
If that was really the reason, one or a few people with bad behavior, it was a shame because I saw potential in this game to be like a diamond but unfortunately ended up being more of the same, games like Depraved Awakening and Acting Lessons remain on the podium, like games with better-developed stories.

Man, Abigail's ending was so disappointing to me. I don't know, I was hoping for more.

Actually, after Chloe's ending (which I really liked), I thought the other girls would receive the same kind of treatment. But in the end everything was rushed out.
Too bad, I had high hopes for this game. It isn't bad by any means, but what a let down.

Or author had only a few scenes in mind since start and don't want to put a lot of efforts into making long story with multiply interlinked characters (it's actually quite hard work).

Blaming supporters, huh... Then it's again mostly author fail - he don't stated clearly enough what kind of content will be in his game.

C'mon guys and gals. No need to invent false excuses for dev if he decided to do a rushed end his story. It's his work (in case of Patreon and so on) and his decision to take it easy.

P.S. Isn't it obvious that game was planned as Chloe love-story and then was simply bloated by side-characters and junk single-scene girls?

Yeah, things were hinting to that until we got the update where you could stay and leave Chloe.

I think everyone who liked the other girls, thought that there would be a lot more content with them and they would become more than side characters.

But my god, did the dev rush everything out. And I'm speaking as someone who liked Chloe, imagine the people who liked the other girls more.

This game is just a huge let down.

The cult arc has been added since 1.1 , and ever more details have been revealed thru each release. Obviously the developer had a already a thought track in mind.
Any1 who played the game rather than just skipping the text to see sex scenes or just loading save games from others would know that a lot of info have been added to the cult arc. The one that pique me most the gals went missing even though Jason stand guard outside the room for the whole night. And the last scene with the unnamed gal is a test from the cult. Even to the rushed ending , he didn't forget about the cult.
In fact i think many ppl don't even know or don't care Eve was part of the cult , and just another side character they can have sex with. The fact remains he obviously have well thought track on the cult.

A lot of us , u see so many posts (including me) who played the game wondered why so much efforts was spent on this arc and suddenly abandoned. The explanation of being lazy and don't want to put in a lot of efforts just don't cut it as he seem obviously well invested in the arc.
We never know for sure , but @SolarEclipsed's explanation does seem very plausible to this question. This is certainly not the first game nuisance cyber-harassers ruined, and it certainly won't be the last. So I am not surprised if this is the truth.
And if you forced into doing something u don't like , well might as well just end it. I give the developer credit for ending this gracefully instead of abandoning the game totally like some developers had done when the game went out of their vision.

I liked the way the dev concluded this game. It obviously always was about the Chloe relationship. That relationship could be played (it's a game after all) in several ways. Basically the choice was to be faithful, adventurous or unfaithful. And that has consequences for how that relationship's ending plays out. It can be either a happy one with a pregnant Chloe, a happy triangle with both Chloe and Rose pregnant or a relationship with Chloe that doesn't have enough committment to bring a child into the virtual world.

The other girls' endings are mostly a bonus. And as such they are well done too. Obviously they aren't as interactive as Chloe's simply because they aren't the main focus of the game. They are still fleshed out, not just 2 pics and done. And they are looking just as nice as everything else in this game. It finished with a 6GB download. Imagine if the dev gave every girl as much story as Chloe got. That would be like 4 or 5 games in one.

Just finished my 1st walkthrough and decided to look at the official guide to see what I missed. What's the point of "Nice" options? I don't see any requirements that need this stat. Only Jerk and Manly.
