What do you think about the date with Jill when she asks about the supposed fire in the mansion? Will we have repercussions if we tell her that its Derek's fault or its best that we took also some blame? Technically its Derek who was holding the lighter.
Not much. I think telling her "we did it" it's more honest.
MC was there he didn't actually lit the lighter, but he didn't try stop Derek nor dissuade him. He didn't think about ruining Jill's stuff too so.... Shifting the blame on Derek I believe is the wrong choice.

yes and why will anyone give his dead mother's money to some fellow idiots who he had met only few days ago and not giving to his poor father who had done so much for him and this is what should be done if we apply simple human behavior

people may do it in game but will never do irl
People will do it in game because we'll be forced to do in game.

Too many people in this thread seem to talk real life far too much and completely forget that this is a story, where we the player have some control at how we shape the character of the MC, but will have no control at how the game ends.

the only time I'd throw Derek under the bus is if I'm wearing the dildo helmet during the lunch with Isabella

People make their own choices in life, unless they live in the BADIK universe.
Umm, almost no games allow you to make your own choices. The path is made from the beginning, you can only make a choice here or there but the result will be the same except for small differences. For example in the witcher 3 you can choose multiple paths, choose the girl but in the end the path is the same, only certain actions change and here too.

Blaming Derek is a bitch move, he's suppose to be your friend and hanging him out for a taste of Jill is pathetic.

If taking responsibility causes the MC Jill in the future, then so be it. Choosing Jill already causes us to miss out with Nora and Nicole/Sandy, she won't make me lose out on friendship.

Yeah, choices don't matter. That's why Ciri's decision at the end of the last DLC is so inconsequential.

Maybe that's because she doesn't have that big a part to play in the the MC's main story, or because there will be a more clean opportunity with her now that she's free and single.

The reason for not being able to get away from the M&J is likely because it's important to the story, whereas Sage's drama with Chad is not, hence why it can be largely skipped over.
I agree with you, and thats why I think the game needs more difference between paths (even if they are small ones)and more choices from the player. In the last episode the MC who was rejected is as willing to go with them as the MC that is in a relationship with them. For example, I wanted my MC to be late to meet them in the end because he was "busy".

However, this isnt new in the story, because in ep4 a FULL DIK MC (super confident, laid back and having sex with everybody) gets overly emotional, hurt and sensitive (a typical CHICK MC move) when M&J tell him the truth just to create drama.

In the next ep, Im really hoping for a way to choose to get away from the Dad/Maya dispute like I had a way not to get involved with Quinn and help her.

Point being, M&J are like Quinn: They advance the story that we "should" care about, and not the one we "want" to care about (depending on path)

There's also that one time that Derek downplays you to brag in front of Ashley. That's not something a good friend does.
Bro everyone had atleast done this once in his life to kinda "impress" a girl. bro its normal as long as it doesnt happen everytime when a girl is around then yeah its cool.

I didn't. That's a very shitty thing to do. I know of "friends" like that and I rather have them nowhere near me if I can help it.

Edit. Minor spoiler about AL. In AL the MC's wingman did something worse to the MC and people didn't seem to mind either.

Gonna have to be in a private area, during a specific event. Cause you know it's not gonna be a proper 1 on 1 with an asshat like Dawe around, only time he's been able to land a blow against the MC has been by surprise.
Honestly I'd kind of think the brawler thing could be turned in to a College club the mc joins, gives optional fights for $ but also 'story' fights you can take part in.
