Who was responsible for the Design of the characters, lookswise? Was this something simply written out by TD and realized by GIL? Were you limited by HS in what you imagined for the characters?

GIL is the one who's responsible for realizing the characters design wise in the character creator. A few of the characters were holdovers of my work from a previous version of the game when I was working alone on the project, but all but one or two of those got spruced up to his more rigorous standards. Like most things in this project (including my writing), we share input before anything is finalized. Any one character might start out as a very short generic idea of mine, then he'll make something, and he'll show it to me and we'll talk about any changes to make.

Hana and Mina are actually characters ported over from an old PlayClub comic of his. Felicia and Kathleen were commissioned by me from him when Pale Carnations was a comic of my making. Veronica was a product entirely of his mind when we were looking to diversify the Carnation cast away from my initial offering of all MILFs. Rosalind is the only main heroine of the five that is mine, but even then I think he may have touched her up some. It's hard to remember.

I *think* Ian might be entirely mine. Edwin is a nerdier version of my original protagonist. Victoria is entirely mine.
He can correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.

As for being limited, naturally the character creator has some constraints, especially on the male side, but there is a wealth of assets available. 4 years worth of mods, public and private. We were Illusion studio hobbyists before this, so we pretty much installed new mods every day as they were shared on HongFire (RIP) and the IllusionSoft discord.

You can actually do a surprising amount with it. More than you might think. GIL's most recent comic, and the one he worked on before our collaboration, was a fantasy comic with some really out there and creative designs. I'd say in that he stretched the character creator to the limit and really made the most of it. Compared to that, something like Pale Carnations (with normal people in a modern setting) is more straightforward and what the character creator was intended for.

All in all, the characters turned out perfectly how we wanted them, a mixture of our personal tastes. Including the big breasts. ;)

Ah, I was beaten to the punch, but I guess I'll share my side of it too.

TD and I have been friends for some years now, met through comic-making. I designed Felicia and later Kathleen while I was still not on the project. I wasn't told they were for a game. He gave me almost complete freedom iirc. Felicia just needed to look mature and Kathleen needed to look older, in the gray hair zone. While I did retouch both when I got onboard, the first costumes you see them wear in the game were the ones I originally gave them. Both were subject to small changes on delivery by TD's request too.

Rosalind, Victoria and Dalia are original TD characters, I have only edited them slightly.

Hana and Mina are greatly improved replicas of two old characters from my first comic series, done in Playclub like a century ago. We brainstormed their implementation and roles. Mina got promoted to heroine shortly after we started working on the prologue, she was originally going to be a side character. Her cute design and first shooting session won TD over I like to think, altho I did lobby for her considerably.

Veronica was the last heroine to be designed. Originally she was going to be a teacher type. Her glasses and hairstyle are the only thing she keeps from her first draft. We worked very closely on her creation, finally deciding to go muscle. I'm very glad we did.

As a side note, Edwin and Ian were also made by TD, with very minor edits by me. Chuck and August were remade, but their essence is faithful to the TD originals.

All designs after those have followed the same process: TD explains to me what he needs, I make and edit it over and over until he is satisfied. That goes for costumes too.

Have we been limited by HS? Sure, but not terribly. I wish the Character Creation tool was as deep as HS2 at the very least, but it didn't even exist when we started working. Also, you gotta give it to TD, he both has a set in stone vision of the story with very defined goals (I've already SEEN part of an ending!) and the very rare ability to adapt and incorporate other's ideas to enrich and expand it. Such generosity and creativity is very rare in my experience. It's an absolute joy to work with him.

Thank you for this explanation. It‘s very interesting to me to get a glimpse at your creative process.
Also since you answered my semi hidden question with your last sentence  I really like the result of what the both you created there.

Edit: Now GIL3D posted while I was still writing my reply. I‘m grateful for your answer to my question(s), too. I just love these behind the scenes looks!

My favorite characters are Hana and Mina

Veronica is my least favorite, I'm not into muscular girls. But it's good for the game. And I deeply appreciate all the others, I can't decide which one is my favorite o_O

Veronica really doesn't give the MC any reason to like her. She acts like a snob with a bad attitude 90% of the time. I personally don't mind her muscles but attitude and personality are more important than just about anything else. I understand that she hates the bad situation she is in but other characters are in a very similar situation (Lucy and Rose for example) and have a better attitude about it.

On the other hand that makes her interesting (and the game). Compare her with Lucy (who is way hotter IMO) who was acting predictably during their eliminations while Veronica first broke Samson's nose and then made Kat into a plaything. I also liked her interaction with Edwin after her penalty, her laugh for example when he tried to encourage her was brilliant.

Well yeah, because Felicia is a chameleon and Lucy and Rosalind are trying to curry favor with anyone working for the club. Veronica's far more blunt, so she treats everyone involved in the competition with the contempt they more or less deserve. I find her honesty extremely appealing.

Besides, if you behave respectfully Veronica warms up to the MC fairly quickly.

Maybe you have low points with her? She is more blunt than the rest but i haven't see any bad attitude.

She laughed when Edwin tried to cheer her up after the second exihibition game where she was punished by Kathleen for kicking Samson's ass. Veronica was also quite cool when talking with Edwin inside the gym if you go there together with Mina and don't pressure her like Kathleen wanted.
She even liked both times my Edwin slapped her ass. :p

This too. See how fast Rosalind drop the honeytrap act after asking Edwin to become her "partner in crime". No idea yet about Felicia but it seems clear to me she has a hidden agenda, i don't buy this story she just wants to become a member of this club.

I found it funny (in a good way) that when Kat asks who looks best in the uniform we actually lose a point with Veronica if we choose her but we get 2 points if we say "this is dumb" (but then we lose a point with Kat so I can't choose this option since Felicia = Mina = Hana > Rosalind = Kat = Lucy = Dalia > Veronica).

I also like Veronica's pragmatism and logical thinking, e.g. when she said: "Turning sucking a dick into some greater purpose, what a crock of...".

On a side note, it's interesting that Felicia, who seems the most debauched out of the three has tan lines and the rest doesn't.

I think that's because the other two don't have much of a tan in the first place. We see Felicia has an outdoor pool in her house, but it's in line of site of a lot of nearby buildings. Given what we've heard of Elias, it makes sense Felicia would spent plenty of time sunbathing around that pool in skimpy swimwear rather than completely naked. So even if she does manage to squeeze some nude sunbathing in from time to time, she'd still have noticeable tan lines.

Veronica, on the other hand, doesn't seem the sunbathing type and Rosalind is very pale.

Also, a lot of things that give points with Veronica penalize Kat. Funny how that works. I'm wondering if I'll have any points with Kat by the time we're done.
