A bit of a trade secret. Why do some renders take so long?
Well, when you see more than two characters on one render (and I like having a crowd when I can, it makes the scene feel more alive), my computer cannot keep up (fucking potato). So for one render, it takes all night thanks to what I call the "two by two", where I divide one scene into as many files I need, with only two characters at a time. And when they overlap, it takes that many more renders to generate...

My real issue with the part I'm working on right now is that I have around 20 renders where I'll need to use this technique. It doesn't seem that bothersome, until you see that the light is not good or that the focus of the camera was wrong or any other issue like that, and you need to fix it in every fucking file that each takes 10 minutes for Daz to open because this is a stupid poophead software! è_é
I haven't tried this myself, but have you tried using the spot render to do sections like that?

Yeah, I'm also using spot rendering quite often, mainly to fix details that paint.net (I hate photoshop) can't fix.
But for "full renders", such as these, I just tend to do a batch that runs at night while I sleep and then I merge them all. Or, as I sometimes discover in the morning, the batch is unusable because I was too greedy and tried to force too many characters on the same renders and Daz crashed in the night...

I have never tried using the batch thing myself, either it takes longer to open the scene than to render it, or it takes so long, I can only do one in that time anyway. XD
Tend to have to render something a dozen times before I am happy anyway on the avj. lol

Damn bro, we need to get you a new PC ASAP. But to get more Patrons you need to release updates.

... Wait a minute, this is sounding awfully familiar.

"How do I get a good job?"
"Well, first you need experience."
"So how do I get experience?"
"Why, by getting a job, of course!"

My issue is more with Daz than my PC. My graphic card is a GeForce RTX 2060 (6gb), but it won't prevent Daz from switching to CPU rendering for no reason whatsoever... (I don't discard the possibility that the real issue lies between the chair and the keyboard).

But even though, the real real reaaaaaaaaaal issue I have with Daz is not always the rendering (I'm launching the batch at night when I sleep so it's kinda okay to see the result in the morning and, if it failed, I can relaunch it while I'm at work) but with the fact that, as I said, it takes around 10 to 15 fucking minutes to open a scene if I need to make some modifications... Add to that that I don't want to use the same two pictures as shot/countershots and that I prefer to play with the angles and the character's positions, and this quickly becomes a technical nightmare.

Also, I live in the south of France and I have no air conditioner D:

And last but not least, I refuse to take patrons money until I've released something, that's just not my jam (and there's still no sex scene per se in the release, so there's that (digression within a digression, the real sex scenes are already planned and scripted for the first release of chapter 2 ;) ) ).

Well good news! The second you release the update I'm going to be on at least three different Discords going "Hey, did you hear? Vinland got an update! WOOO!"

What this means is that A) your scene is using more ram than your video card has, and that you have a setting ticced.

Go to render settings, and the advanced tab. Uncheck the two that say CPU on the side there, and also the one at the bottom that says Allow CPU Fallback (Requires Restart).

This ship is a fucking sausage fest! D:
Well, the navy always has been quite prone to attract men loving other men disproportionately because of that.... Mind that next time, folks, before you decide to embark as sailor.

What, that's actually shocking. I imagined you were at least deriving from Normandy, living in Rouen, Le Havre or Caen - you were supposed to! After all, being French and making the best viking porn visual novel out there: you just had to be from Normandy. :WutFace:And now you basically say you're Occitan? I'm shocked. :p

I'm a Provence guy through and through, and my only relationship with Normandy is that

Yeah, this is the conf I used to have before upgrading windows 7 to 10 and consequently daz 4.11 to 4.15 (which was extremely stressful as I used less than official ways to do it at first and thought I'd broken my ssd more than once. Let that be a lesson, being a pirate is all fun and games, but sometimes you need to buy the proper licenses...). Now, even a scene taking less than 1gb of RAM (and I have 6gb available) goes to CPU first and if I untick these boxes, then it only "renders" for 30 seconds and shits out a black picture...

I can't blame you, it's a lovely place, I've been in Montpellier, Nice and Marseille already. And it's much more fun to bath and swim and having beach life, than at the rough North Sea or the English Channel. (y)

This seems easier than doing all that. At least for the background people.

Looks interesting, thank you, but that won't solve my current predicament, as I'm afraid it would take more time than it would save in fine.
