The events and jobs are random, so you will have to keep trying to get one to pop up, if you don't get an random event or a job to trigger, here is what you can try

-- save your game before the time of an random event or getting a photoshoot job on the phone. Example photoshoot or an event at 15:00, save at 13:00 or 14:00
-- at 15:00, try to get a photoshoot job or that random event to trigger, if you don't get one, reload the save then try
-- or try the next day and don't worry about the week and day

Hard to know exactly with the mother without knowing exactly the point you're stuck at. Keep pushing it further and further when sleeping together, for one thing.

Are you using my mod? that might be a side affect. It doesn't matter if you still have it in your inventory because I don't think it actually affects progression.
