To be honest, I wish it were optional. Because, in this case, the player chooses the “correct answer”, and not the one that he personally considers correct. A good story loses its value.
A hide button would be a solution to that, but good point.

I have read the comments of the last pages.
I am too for revenge, but a good redemption arc is nice too. Annie has taken the first step. Is she from the hook? No! But now there is a chance. In my opinion, it makes the story more interesting.

Redemption doesn't mean they don't have to work for our forgiveness. Some more than others. It can be good or bad.

A revenge Story is pretty easy in concept, but a good one needs brain as well.
What is clear, and I think the game deliver it well so far is that: "Old hatred burns the longest".

I can't wait till episode 2 drops. dev, you did an amazing job with episode 1 regardless of what these naysayers spout. keep going my dude. haters only talk shit because they can't make anything like this and need to bring others down. there's constructive criticism and then there's being a douchebag
Me too.

The problem there is, she deserves revenge regardless of whether the others are innocent.

She turned her back on someone that was a brother to her to back up her friends when they were bullies. Now she turns up when it happens again to say she's only doing it to prove her friends innocent, not be there for the MC.
This. I can imagine kissing Sarah over being anywhere near Annie. Sarah was a bystander who did nothing. Annie was a sister who did nothing.

It's irrefutable that atleast Emma and Charlotte were actively involved in the bullying and since the others are so sure they were a "force of good, making lives better for everyone", I don't think any reconciliation is possible with any of them. They have no guilt (except maybe Kate?).
I imagine Kate is the only one who is self-aware about everything they did.

Only problem is that it's Kate who set this whole thing in motion with that dare, even if she was self aware she didnt do anything to show she's sorry except make a guilty face. Hell even when she gave that speech at the presentation talking about moving forward, she's acting like some saviour who did nothing wrong.

Edit: I forgot to mention something noteworthy

Kate: I'm not one for second place. I see something I want I take it, regardless who it belongs to.
MC: Not everyone would like that
Kate: No, but I don't give them a choice

Kate was dared to do it by Emma, right? And honestly things only escalated after Emma took MC's nude pics. Things were still under 'prank' territory until that happened.

And that's what I mean. She had the guilty face + I'm making an assumption that, unlike Annie and Sarah, who seem to have completely missed MC getting his ass beaten for an entire year, Kate might be aware about everything. Because she was the leader. That guilt allows for actual redemption to happen.

All true and you are right. What do you think of Annie's offer in the actual patch?

We only knew something is coming up. They plan something.
And Kate is set up like a president. We don't know anything about Kate.

Which is strange with all other we had contact.

I get what you mean, but no redemption can happen until they actually seek it, which Annie KIND OF did with her offer to 'be there', hence I'd forgive her but only if she admits her part in MC's troubles and atones by going through the 7 stages of hell (metaphorically of course). Back to Kate, she's basically driving blind running people over and feeling guilty about it without actually taking accountability.

Edit: Kates dare was to steal his boxers, she took all his clothes, why would he run out naked otherwise

Here's details as to why I personally would get revenge on each of them:

5. Emma, she's a bitch. You know it, I know it, everyone and their mothers know it lol, you'd expect this from her. She'll definitely pay!

4. Charlotte, pretty much the same as Emma but she's more aggressive with her bullying.

3. Sarah, she may have been a bystander but she was clearly amused by your humiliation, she even subtly throws it in MCs face when you see her again with Ash. She's embarrassed to strip in front of MC but she laughed when MC was tricked to strip.

2. Kate for reasons mentioned in the previous post.

1. Annie, all others were just strangers to you. Annie was family and a close one, with her it's betrayal. She didnt notice/ she noticed but turned a blind eye during MC's year of being bullied.

None of them said sorry, they all said its in the past get over it. If they wanted redemption they'd have to seek it, Annie is no.1 on my revenge list and she's the only one who took the tiniest step forward towards redemption.

Making guilty face doesn't really mean anything, only that you know you did a bad thing. But if she doesn't actively act to fix the thing, it's empty gesture. She could have in that motivational speech said something about it and publicly apologize to MC, yet she chose not to do anything. She is as guilty to all that happened to MC as the rest.

yes but if all this is true then it makes the entire intro completely irrellevant and wasted words. I think the earlier theories are correct that it's tuttle. I believe he is in love with one of them and she is either rogue in the group and manipulating him or he is acting in hopes it will get her attention. and as I already said very disappointing if it's true. it's like the dev tried making a revenge story then went wait what if it's a redemption arc instead. The MC so far though comes off as a complete putz and basically the small group of friends he has atm are the only likable characters imo. so by taking this route it basically makes all characters unlikable and un redeemable. These are just my thoughts but this back and forth on the fence thing really sucks either they are bitches for real or they aren't. Let the game live up to it's name.
or maybe, just maybe, they are just acting like normal woman, someone can like him but i doubt, its a lot easier the 4 being hoes cuz Kate help them with everything and they just say "yes, enter in my house and eat my family ass"

correct me if I'm wrong.. but are you lobbying for redemption path?
The girls being romance-able, the monologue at the beginning of the game and hints of insecurities among the girls already being depicted. Safe to say, redemption is set in stone. What I want to see is it being done appropriately.

Pretty much. Since the update ends right after, I honestly haven't made my mind about accepting or rejecting Annie. Her offer comes off as disingenuous because she clearly feels like they did nothing wrong and MC is overreacting. She's saying what she thinks MC wants to hear instead of actually bothering to understand MC. Rejecting her is the obvious thing to do but I dunno how important this choice is so I'm hesitant.
Making guilty face doesn't really mean anything
True. I'm hoping we see something different from Kate and not just the same brainwashed crap we heard from Annie and Sarah.

don't disagree, but ... appropriately is ... subjective.
your appropriate probably is not the same as my or others appropriate :p
but yea , I agree, if there will be (and from what you're saying, and what I've read from dev's comments, there will be one) a redemption path, I as well would like to see it properly implemented, and hope the MC will not become a ... retard for the lack of a better word.
MC doesn't need to become a doormat in order to go on forgiveness path.

I agree. His easy reaction to Annie in the cafe and falling so easily for Amber's ruse in the library does not inspire confidence. His words against Charlotte in the mall was pretty great and I hope we see more of that assertiveness.

and that's the problem nowadays,
people don't know how to portray strength, or even kindness....
usually most of devs portray the kind MC as a doormat... which is not accurate at all... that type of MC is... meek, submissive...not kind... there's no kindness in that... there's fear of retaliation or standing up for yourself.. but yea...
anyway I'm rambling...
I do hope the forgivness path will not be a ... nowadays "kind" MC....
there needs to be a reckoning...

I'm actually on the fence with Annie, at first I was like hell no fuck her, but if she was being basically peer-pressured and gaslighted by her "friends" to separate from the MC, then she is as much as victim as the MC is, and the better "vengeance" for her would be for Annie to realize by herself how shitty the bitch squad is. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt for now, and depending on how she carries herself in the next episodes will depend on if I carry on with my initial decision of forgiving her. But if she is an unrepentant bitch, then "load save" and kick her out basically.

I just finished with the content so far and god damn, am I thankful there was no bullying in high school, my high school at least... the amount of trauma and emotional damage kids can dish out on others is insane.

Anyway, what happened to the MC and the video presentation should have been a boon for him, as far as I'm concerned. He could have used that situation to draw sympathy from the crowd and showcase the bitches in a very bad light, considering the renders show Emma laughing out loud when his pictures show up on screen. That attitude contrasts heavily with Kate's whole speech beforehand so it would have been a figurative slap to the face for them if MC had pointed it out instead of running away like a retard.
