I'm rambling about that fact that devs (and supporters) shouldn't use Patreon in the first place, then 3rd party patches and other band-aid work-arounds would be unnecessary. I really wish Patreon would be like Youtube and simply ban all porn altogether and be done with it (likely if Google ever decided to buy them too), at least then devs would be forced to go to SS or BB and be free to make what they want or simply find something else to do. Imagine the uproar if they decided to ban all gay or mixed-race content, same idea.

Yeah, now it may not get nuked but also now hardly anyone will sub to it, the incest is what gets people's attention and makes it stand out from 5,000 other AVNs without that. Most people visit for that, and stay for the story, esp when it's in HS or some other "poor man's render engine" that's not very visually appealing (passable and better than just text based, but not by huge amounts) compared to Daz . If money was the goal you'd probably be financially better off using SS, BB or some other platform that doesn't give a shit about content. At least it's in Renpy so it's easy to patch.

Like 3295 Patrons to 23 SS Subscribers. Asking the devs to give up Patreon for SS, and other small platforms, is asking them to give up 99% of their income.

The other issue is that it's not Patreon that makes the rules about content, it's MasterCard. MasterCard handles payment processing for Patreon, and enforces the censorship on threat of cutting off their services(which Patreon can't survive without). As a real nut kicker, MasterCard also handles payment processing for SS, BB, and all the other platforms. The only reason they don't enforce censorship on the smaller platforms is because "controversial" content makes up a much larger percentage of their profits, compared to Patreon. If MasterCard enforced censorship on SS, SS would not have enough content on their platform to pay the bills, and would shut down, so MasterCard turns a blind eye to them.

If Patreon did ban all adult content, and all the porn game devs flooded to SS, SS would no longer be able to fly under MasterCard's radar, and they'd be targeted just like Patreon. The only reason the loopholes, such as patches, and "choose your relationships" mechanics are mostly ignored by Patreon is because Patreon simply doesn't care about that content. They enforce MasterCard's rules with the bare minimum effort that their contract requires.

The best thing that could happen is another payment processor emerges that can compete with MasterCard's infrastructure, and doesn't have a board filled with bible thumpers. Since that's unlikely to happen, we should just be thankful that downloading and installing a patch, or manually choosing relationships, is a very simple thing to do. We should also be grateful that devs, and completely unrelated third parties are willing to put in the extra effort to bypass MasterCard's BS censorship.

Patreon could definitely survive without MC, they could just switch to crypto pegged to the US $ like Matic (no volatility, so no reason not to) if they really wanted to and take an income cut in the meantime with layoffs if necessary (a private company with no shareholders to appease = totally feasible), they simply choose not to out of greed. Kinda like the opposite of EVGA when they decided to ditch Nvidia after getting tired of their bullshit even though that was 85% of their revenue gone. They still exist as a company just fine, only smaller. It's exactly why Backed.by gave the middle finger to the credit card companies and uses Matic only. If devs make an exodus for that the credit card companies wouldn't be able to do a damned thing about it, other than perhaps a reverse of some of their policies but would probably be too little, too late by that point. They often site porn in general being a high risk for chargebacks, so they could simply start refusing merchant accounts to porn sites along with sites that sell it like Patreon and speed that exodus up if they are porn-averse so much, rather than being nitpicky about which types of porn or specific kinks. I still hope they do and if I found a magic lamp I'd wish for that before a lotto win or world peace even if it would temporarily put the industry in a panic until the full switch to crypto was finished.

Honestly if you want to make it optionally fine but please don't cut content that people (it's me, I'm people) actually like just because of a loud minority. I get the cum eating scene. I found it hilarious but the game's no worse without it. This is different though, good harems don't shy away from lesbian scenes, sometimes they just make them optional.
