I just downloaded the latest patch, on a game that has a good moving plot with great renders!

I guess you just found the game? It's been abandoned for a few months now (maybe half a year?). Sadly they leaked the update here before the dev did it himself, he got pissed and stopped the development altogether.
Well, that might one reason, however rumors there were other reasons factor into making the Dev to walk away. It is a bummer when that dev did that with a long progress AVN this may become.

If I was a paying patron I could feel somehow entitled to at least some explanation (which he did, regardless of how logic or valid it was), but me getting it from a pirate site and then complaining about him dropping it because of his reasons, I'd feel like the biggest hipocrite.

Last thing I remember on his Patreon was that he was still going to be working on it after closing Patreon account. But that it was going to be a very long time. Max he could was 1 day a week (and not every week). I'm kinda hoping, that this was true, and one day we'll be pleasantly surprised with an update. But not getting too hopeful.

They posted somewhere here his rant (I don't remember if he wrote it in Discord or by email) after the Patreon post. He was beyond pissed because someone had leaked the version before he got to share it here, and dropped everything, including a version he had on testing. I also hope he cools down someday and pick up the development again. In spite of the critics I read here, I really liked this game, and had a theme and character development that I was liking quite much.

Perhaps, but that was still the reason the dev wrote about. Whether it was valid or not, I don't think a user on a Pirate site has the moral authority to judge it, even less myself as I didn't even get to support him while he had his Patreon.
At the end of the day, it was his work, and he decided what to do with it. I'm just lamenting not to get to know how the story was going to end. I really hate to leave unconclusive reads, and that VN is one of the few that I regret having read not for anything else but because I won't get to know how the story was to end.

Sadly true. That's why I tend to avoid reading anything younger than 1 year or having less than at least 3 chapters/acts. Even so, there have been good VNs with a good amount of progress that had to be abandoned, but at least it's a bit more unlikely.I hate not knowing how things finish. It happens in other media too. How many promising TV series have started out only to be canceled for one reason or the other. Of course, in those cases it's not usually the creators who cut the strings, but the networks.I hate not knowing how things finish. very true and i find that very much to same for this avn
from what i remember the dev choose a 2nd job over development for the avn
Not something i'd want to see but i can agree whit and respect
its just the reasons given at end made lose all the respect for him, as a solo dev there isn't a network or stock owners board to make decisions for the project.
it was the dev's decision to pull the plug ,blaming a leaked upload as the reason is just lip service to save face or a mental gymnastic for a clear conscious about possible obligations to the supporters

Someone released the update before the dev wanted to, so he made the incredibly hasty decision to punish the rest of humanity by abandoning the project entirely?
Does the Dev need to see a specialist to get some medication to control their chemical imbalance or Bipolar perhaps?
Ah whatever, it's not like there is a shortage of MANY other amazing projects on here, so I won't lose a wink of sleep on it now that I know the reason.

the worst thing about it was that that last update had the longest delay on being leaked compared to all other updates ,so basicly the devs request to not leak was honoured but after a period(like ~2 months instead of the ~2week for the updates before) it got leaked anyway but in the end it got the ultimate response

yes, unfortunately. The whole thing has been going on for a while, if you are interested, read through the posts, but in the end it has been abandoned and the chances of it coming back are very small.
