You have to spy at afternoon not noon, then fix a tree, then ask Linda. I posted a guide a few pages back. If none of that works check your version and make sure it's V6.

Linda has to have given birth, you have to have 'prepared the tree', and you have to speak with her in the afternoon in the pantry. If that doesn't work, your game might be glitching out. (happens sometimes with RPGmaker) You have version 6.1, right?
