Now don't get me wrong I do like this game but what's with those version numbers?
The version numbers are linked with the revision of a particular release. So this is release version 5.13 and the 'r3' part means this is the third revision of that release. Most revisions are to fix bugs or errors, and most versions actually add or modify content.

The only reason I post anything at all in a thread is if I like the game and want it to improve. I can get a bit rough however, (likely a product of my demonic heritage ;) ) When I see something I don't like, i rather unapologetically let people know that I don't like that thing. And in this case it particularly bothers me because I actually care about where this game goes with it's storyline. And yes, you do catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I may have let my frustration at this particular type of storyline get the better of me. It really is a very over-used plot type, I want better!
First (though not this post) I'll give you everything you said about ME3's ending. What an awful way to kill the experience of countless hours of fun before that.

Then however "I want it to improve" uses your very own personal metric of "what I like". Which may be very different from what others like. And, as has been said before, at this level it isn't even really a question of money, just as many people make music in less popular genres, "waste" their dancing talent on experimental ballet set to 12 tone music, and so on.

And you are even advocating against your own point somewhat. The "lack of creativity" in "overused tropes" may be that - but it exists in part because people like these tropes. I have some pet peeves of my own which make me dislike a game and dislike the people who defend it, so I am being a bit hypocritical here because I disagree with your idea of how the story should go in parts (although I gotta admit you make some salient points). The majority of the audience prefers "happily ever after". The majority of the audience in these games prefer girls being available to sex and actually liking you, even though you just stumble through the house, and so on.

So i guess Book!Eowyn's ending(Lord of the Ring here) is bad...i mean she is someone who struggles with depression, she is pretty much unable to fight back because the world keep putting on her knees. In the books that "i'm not a man" sentence is not a "girl-powa" moment, is a "I'm not a man because i'm dead (either i fight or don't)" moment.
Actually it is mostly Tolkien's hatred of Macbeth. In Macbeth, a prophecy about "a man born to a woman" is invalid because Caesarean section. Tolkien considered that a cop out, so he made a real "not a man" thing. Just like in Macbeth a prophecy about the trees attacking turned out to be soldiers camouflaged with leaves - this birthed the Ents, so we can have real trees attacking.

Am I dumb or is the patcher bugged? I installed it and it's telling me it's still 0.5.12r2 on the main menu and when I make a new save, but the patcher, if run again, tells me I have the latest version. I'm using the high res patch with the high res version, it's done something but the game itself hasn't updated at all.

I really like this VN / game. It is alluring to me that the MC is IMO actually falling in love with the succubus and from what I read she is also with him. Its nice to bang the shit outa Lyriel in the MC's room in the mornings and I feel she is starting to also have feelings for the MC, like after the scene in the bathroom with her in her room, but there not as pronounced as with Azraesha. I like the overall flow or the progression of the relationships. But for me its all about Azaesha. I really hope that she can go back with the MC to his world and live out her life with him. (Yes I am a sucker for the happy endings)

Played the latest free version today.
Got the Christmas scene. Good job! Now looking forward to next release for more stuff....lol

Then did the movie night again w Rae.
Was sad when they started talking about Meatloaf. I remember listening to
Bat Out Of Hell when I was a little kid. Hate that he died.

Cheers

In the books that "i'm not a man" sentence is not a "girl-powa" moment, is a "I'm not a man because i'm dead (either i fight or don't)" moment. After that war she chooses to become a housewife, decides to be loved, to marry someone who isn't a noble or powerful, she chose a simple man with a simple but manageable life, filled with happiness and joy

is it objectively bad? I think it's not, but some people may disagree with me. She gave up her noble title, to have a decent, simple, peaceful but happy life rather than dealing with politics (which depressed her).

Someone may say it's sexist, but in that context i think she chose happiness over power or “historical greatness”
I never read the lord of the rings books, but have seen the movie trilogy's and your referring to the character that Liv Tyler plays correct? I'm all for the giving up your political power or royal status for one you love. call me a old fashioned romantic but i think that's part of what I look for in my adult games as well. when there's romance and characters falling in love it makes for better intimate scenes! I figure that was the connection between the story of Eowyn from lord of the rings and this game. if not... that's the connection I made anyway. lol

I mean, there is a connection between Eowyn and Rae...both have a degree of power(either magical for Rae or political for Eowyn) but they're not too happy about it, for a reason or another(i mean Eowyn's uncle AKA the king was weak and manipulated, and she was a defenceless princess that was basically waiting for the bad guys to destroy her home <- short version) and they both tried to fight back one way or another until they met a simple man with a simple life(MC in this game is just a random dude in unusual circumstances, and learns to deal with it) and for love, for peace, for happiness they either consider(for Rae but only because we don't know how her story will end) or give up their powers and influence(Eowyn) just for a pleasant life where they don't feel miserable and depressed.

I could make a more “cultured” reference to Kurumu from Rosario+Vampire, which is a succubus just like Rae, who falls in love with Tsukune(MR.main protagonist also Mr.RandomHuman in unusual circumstances for half of the comic). Luckly for Kurumu she doesn't need to give up her powers to stay with him, but she must hide them if it happens that both of them will or want to live in the human-society. Of Course Kurumu is not the main girl(and in the main manga is subtly implied that she will give up on him, because in this comic, the main girl is Moka, the first girl Tsukune met) but still every girl in Tsukune's harem will have to deal with a similar situation of Rae and MC(in the comic there is also a mini-story arc where the characters go work in a Inn with a bar, managed by monsters in disguise but the customers are human). Also this example is far more light-hearted than the Eowyn's one...we talk about a silly manga about a school of monsters and a harem of girls in love with a human student barely below the average.

But see my point? Powerful (not all of them though) people are willing to give up power just to be happy. Because this is what humans want: Happiness(or decent life).

yeah i totally get that. the age old tale of love and happiness winning out over wealth and power! i gotta hope that Rae will get her happy ending (figuratively and literally LOL)! it goes back to the speculation i made about how i think the game will end. if all works out for our hero and his harem of girls, they will all settle in to life in the house giving up their old lives to remain in the house with the one they love... our MC!

Yona is...actually surprisingly feminine despite her appearance. The tusks though...sorry greenskins, but if you've got those I don't think I want you anywhere near me.

It's pretty clear that Yona and MC are a match for each other. Her tusk separation is almost exactly the width of MC's penis. Close enough to massage his cock, but not so close as to accidentally scrape. Almost like they were made for each other.

The more that I think about it in this particular exchange, the more I'm reminded of Filius Canis and his justifications (referring to the half demon spawn, not you).

Nope, that was Arwen. Eowyn was played by Miranda Otto. She's the sister of Eomer, niece of Theoden, King of Rohan, entering the army againt the explicit wishes of him. "The blonde rider chick" if you want.

Overall I liked this update.

If we're talking about ideal endings, my favorite one would be a happy loving marriage with Lyriel, I wouldn't mind seeing, say, Rae leave.
