The second half of Chapter 2 (V0.2) of A Shot in the Dark is packedwith hot renders like our preview on Patreon/SubscribeStar that we can't wait to share with you all. We are feeling pretty confident about a November release, but as always we will keep you updated with a more definitive timeline as we get closer.

Don't forget we also have a poll going for a special fan request render for A Shot in the Dark that ends soon. It's going to be a close race once all the weighted votes are tallied up!

There is not much specific to report for either game this week. We are continuing to prepare for the Steam releases we have planned for this year, as well as plugging along on the regular content updates as always.

We are going to test out adding previews for both game to these dev logs, assuming we have images we can share that are not too spoiler-y!

Happy Halloween from ViM Studios!



We are beginning to see the light at the of the tunnel with the second half of Chapter 2 (V0.2) of A Shot in the Dark. This was a veryambitious third update, but we are very, very happy with how it is turning out!

All of the scene writing for V0.2 is now finalized, and all that is left to write is Photogram content. Renders for all but two scenes are finished, but they are the two most complex scenes in the update. All animations have been started in some capacity, so now it just a race to finish posing and rendering them all.

Then, of course, we still have the long process of coding, polishing, and playtesting which has only just begun. The extensive branching in A Shot in the Dark has made this final stage more intensive than we were accustomed to with Prince of Suburbia. We are currently onboarding people to help with that last step, so it should hopefully go faster as time goes on. This update will be the training ground for that!

Our goal remains to get the second half of Chapter 2 of A Shot in the Dark out in November, but as always we will keep you update as our timeline becomes more firm!

Illness set us back quite a bit this week, sadly. It seems like some really nasty bugs are going around in a lot of places recently. Luckily, a lot of progress was made before illness struck and we have some extra hands on deck to help pick up the slack.

All of the writing for the second half of Chapter 2 (V0.2) of A Shot in the Dark is officially done. Renders are running about two days behind schedule but should be completely finished by the end of next week. Animations are rendering away, and will continue right up to the end. We already have over 1,000 renders and 20 animations, and we aren't even finished!

We now have Doc62 helping with coding for A Shot in the Dark, and with his help all but one scene are implemented into the code, along with most of the texting content. We still have Photogram content to add and lots of polishing to do. Most importantly, we also need to make sure we have all the necessary variables in place and all the branching is working properly!

Although the progress percentages for V0.9 of Prince of Suburbia haven't changed substantially since the last update, that is not because nothing was done. Instead, we decided to increase the amount of remastered art in this update since it will be a slightly longer development cycle than anticipated. Auxiliaryout is currently remastering all of the existing backgrounds, and they are looking great!
