If you equate the father of a family working to provide for that family as the sole qualification for being a good father, then you are 'kind of' correct about Liam being a good father to Ellie and Dylan (good fathers don't gamble away the family home...).

I think he is at best a mediocre father for the following reasons:

He is not involved in his children's lives... he takes fishing trips away from the family (neither son nor daughter are invited); he gives in to his gambling addiction and puts the family's home at risk; he gives Dylan a hard time for Not playing American style football even though Dylan is a very skilled soccer player.

We've seen no: Dad and Daughter dates with Ellie (staying in touch with his young adult daughter and being both present and involved in her life).

I don't recall any compliment from Liam about Dylan's soccer or his involvement in helping his only son with his problem at school where Mr. Bennet targeted Dylan to fail him and stop him for attending college.

If L&P wanted to paint Liam as an involved and caring father, there are ways to do this without spending much time on resources (number of renders/dialogue/simplicity of scene):

* Sophia telling Dylan they are on their own for dinner since Liam and Ellie are going out on one of their regular Dad and Daughter dates

* Sophia telling Ellie that they are having a girl's day since Liam is traveling with Dylan for an away soccer game and they will be gone all weekend

* Sophia and Ellie on the way to the pool and seeing Liam in Dylan's room helping him with math homework

Whether it is L&P's conscious intent to paint Liam with the brush of a 'barely there' father or not - that is the version of Liam that we are currently left with.
I can reassure you that spending time with their parents is not one of adolescents first priorities :):)

Sonner or later Liam will have to become more involved.
We barely know anything about Liam and yes he fucked up with the gambling but Sophia is no saint either with her trying to screw most of San Alejo and risking her marriage/carreer and the other family members seem quite happy to try and fuck up thier mothers marriage but Sopiha is smitten so what does she care.
Badly written script

Why badly written? Actually it's awesome. Sophia's husband is not an absolute asshole like in many other games. He's a little too convinced of himself, he doesn't realize how much he depends on his wife, how much she supports him and has his back free, he's driving in the fast lane professionally and has his wife raising his children leave. Otherwise he is loyal, sometimes even caring and brings the money home.
I think it should be hard to "cheat" Liam. They say it's a poorly written script. I think that's on purpose.
If I were the developer and gave the player the choice to keep their avatar Sophia walking down the path of corruption while at the same time making the player feel bad about the character Liam - I would consider that a success.

Oh, and Liam isn't that present that the NTR haters are running amok here.

When there are so many inconsistencies in the script, when part 1 has little resemblance to part 2 its like putting in scenes from all 3 LOTR to make a new film and in the ned it makes no sense.

I believe you mean "brings the money to the casino". Gambling your house can not be considered a responsible behavior.

I don't think Dylan or Ellie will spend a few hours fishing with Liam. When at the casino, Sofia can choose to remind her husband to leave, and Liam obeyed his wife and left the casino. As for Dylan's affairs at school, Sofia insists on handling them herself rather than letting her husband intervene:)

I was giving examples of reasonable attempts by a father to spend time with his children.

I chose fishing since that was a specific, child-free, weekend away activity that L&P used in AWAM.

Liam could have just as easily offered to go to a famous dance recital with Ellie or offered to take Dylan to a professional soccer game on a weekend; each event would recognize activities that have value for one of his children and would remind them that they are important to him because he chose to spend that time with them versus with anyone else.

The point is that the activities Liam spends his precious free time on are not intended to create bonding time with children that are young adults and will be leaving the nest soon.

As to the gambling, someone with a weakness for gambling should know better than to go to a casino just like someone who has a weakness for alcohol should know not to go to a bar.

If Sophia has to be the adult and manage Liam's inability to make good decisions in a casino, he becomes just one more child she needs to worry about.

It's great that the family lives in a nice house and can afford nice things, but there is Much more than that to being a good/great father.

It all comes down to how L&P has written Liam's story and how he has chosen to portray him; Liam is, in many ways, an absentee father, leaving the child rearing to Sophia with barely any conversation about how the children are doing whenever Sophia and Liam speak.

L&P can change Liam's course regarding his children to start to build/rebuild the relationship he has with his children, but this is for the future and, given the Very slow development time, I don't know how much effort L&P would make.

Cheers! :coffee:

But that's not how the story was written with the example of the schooling affairs that you presented. There are only two options that the reader can select: You can either have Sophia handle it or send Dylan and Zac to boarding school, In which the only option that Liam plays a part is recommending that Dylan learns MMA. And even if Dylan knows MMA, L&P said that it wouldn't be used against Aiden because he is a "JUNIOR" crime lord, and he can shoot up Parker's residence with the hundreds of "JUNIOR" crime lord minions if Dylan would confront Aiden.

The MMA is used in other events, which makes me wonder what was the purpose of the suggestion if it's not going to be used since Aiden was the driving force behind it.

How would have Liam handled it, if there was an option for Liam to handle it and knowing the history of Aiden?

You are trying to criticize a certain topic. One responds to it, does not even reject the criticism, but only tries to convey a different view. And then your argument becomes so general, just a big frustration hammer, so that any further discussion is stifled.

Yes that the script is bad when the dev injects a storyline just to progress an event when it has been stated that Sophia has never modelled before but later we learn that she has and this is makes the sstoryline disjointed and unable to run smoothly.
But if you think that the script is great fair enough I will say no more.

The characters in this game, there are things that make them undefinable.

Sophia is smart but sometimes naive, protecting herself like a nun, but opening up too easily. Moreover, while she advises Dylan to find a girlfriend, she also accepts the role of Dylan's sexual partner.
She mocks her husband when he talks about swapping but she imagines sexual fantasies with Andy.

Dylan appears shy, but he leads the nightlife and is tempted by many women, but he also harbors a fear of women.

Aiden and Morello are quite violent, but quite gentlemen.

Liam achieved success by working diligently for his family, but jeopardized their well-being through gambling. He plays basketball with his son, but often ignores son and enjoy his own time. Marrying Sophia due to her pregnancy, but he proves disloyal because he's discussing swapping and he's spying on Cathy, even running away from a clothing store.

He's not dependent on his wife bacause he ignore her opinions at casino, tell her to send Dylan to martial arts dojo, and go fishing by himself.
Also, while he was conservative with his wife, but he failed to protect Sophia twice in front of the boss, and he even suggested swapping to his wife.

Liam is the same as Dylan, or not. because Dylan gets angry when others see Sophia's body, but at the same time he encourages Sophia to show off her body. Similarly, Liam dislikes people looking at Sophia's body, but he allowed it three times.

I don't think if the characters are well made.

And Liam abandoned a woman at a clothing store and ran away in a hurry, and Sophia met the woman at company.

This was to motivate Sophia to 'suspect and cheat' on Liam.

This is the device the developer intended, but he seems to have forgotten this.

Dylans fight training works great against a drunken hobo :ROFLMAO:
