I don't think Yuno is a milker. He was in rendering for several years, creating beautiful fan art, his work is one of the best in the fan art section on F95. He decided to create a game, but perhaps he didn't take into account that it would overload him, work turned out to be harder than he expected. As a result, he got burned out and stuck in the creative process.
I hope that Yuno will come out of the crisis, game has a great potential to become one of the top projects.

And ofc, feedback on Patreon with subscribers is important, otherwise people start to get nervous and doubt.
I'm thinking the same along those lines. I think he had some expectation of how much more work creating a whole-ass game (writing/storyboarding, soundtrack, coding, game mechanics, etc.) would be compared to just doing renders but it still got the best of him when his day job and working on the game clashed.

Although, I don't think it's a matter of being burned out or stuck. I think it's more of trying to find the happy balance between his real life and this. I'm just going based off of a previous post from Patreon that ended up here but I genuinely think he just struggled from being a hobbyist to being a game dev with Patreons(patrons? whatever) who highly anticipate further installments. I just feel like I can empathize with devs who just do this part-time more than devs who do it full-time. I can imagine keeping that balance is difficult and something had to give. He has his priorities. Most part-time devs are probably basically only working on their games in what free time they have. That's just not something a normal person can do unless they really, really want to do it. His misstep was probably just giving Patreon supporters a simple heads-up about how busy he was and maybe even pausing Patreon for the time being. That would have taken away a lot of the ammo.

It doesn't mean he's milking things but it doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence that this will game will continue in the long-run. I don't really understand too much of the ire against him but I just think it's pretty disappointing how things turned out since this game has a lot of potential.

Edit: Also, hey it's been a while. I'll see you again when Ep 10 comes out in what I'm guessing will be sometime in the end of this year or when I get around to finally finish my playthroughs. :p:cry:

Don't get me wrong but it's really funny to see all the whining in a piracy forum about the speed of devs. I know, I know, everybody pays their share to the devs. Sure... If the work isn't worth the pay, just stop to pay. Where's the problem?
I find all those ridiculous who start crying after only three months without a new update and insult the devs as milkers.
Last time I checked this is a forum no? Where people talk about the game? Unfortunately there's nothing to talk about. People aren't "whining", they are responding to people who seem to ignore the blatent almost milking behaviour from the dev.

It's not about the time between updates, the fact it's almost been a year since the release of the game is another topic. As I've said in previous comments, the dev can take 2 years to release 3 frames for all I care. It's about the total silence for consecutive months with empty promises.

Most of the guys complaining on this board pretend they hate the devs way.
But I mean, what a way to mind read other users. My bad, didn't know you were omniscient. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is complaining about the release of a porn game = hating someone? Since when has anyone expressed hate?

I'm sticking with it: just stop the payments.
I agree with you, but on the other hand, how about the dev stoping the payments when they are the one's who know when the game's coming out?

You are correct.
This is a forum thread to talk about the game.
NOT to bitch about the dev, but that is the vast majority of the last roughly dozen pages.

Almost every post about "Yuno is a Milker!!!!" is expressing hatred.

So you are upset by proxy for Yunos patreons that Yuno did not already stop the payments, huh?
Ever built something?
Ever heard about the fact that work usually is paid?
Ever heard about the fact that money is needed to pay bills?

I wonder why you are upset towards a hobby developer, but not towards AAA game publishers and developers who announce a game and with relatively little communication delay the game for literal years.

Yes Yuno should have communicated a hell of a lot more and better than he did.

Why should they do this? People wants to pay them. Otherwise they would stopping their payments. So let them pay.

And like I said: "Unfortunately there's nothing to talk about." Are you saying it's not allowed to "bitch about the dev"? If you're bothered by people pointing out how someone is not doing what they said they would do, or just commenting about the state of the game, then just don't read the forum thread. If anything, blame the dev for being silent. No one here would be "bitching" if he released a small one or two lines of an update post on the game every one or two weeks.

Almost every post about "Yuno is a Milker!!!!" is expressing hatred.
Lmao what? Saying that a dev is milking the game is "expressing hatred"? Have you even seen what people say when they actually "hate" someone? If they hated Yuno they would be attacking his character (as a person), not commenting about his behaviour.

I'm not "upset". Stop projecting on to people how you feel when you read comments in a porn forum. I'm basically fliping the expectation to the other side as well.

Patreon is a two way street. Of course, no one is forced to stop payment. Yuno could never update Acquainted and he would still not be forced to stop the payments.

But at least in this community, it should be expected for Yuno, when he's created the expectation for a deadline and missed it, to stop the payments if he's going to take more time. Why? Because if not then its blatent milking. Pausing the payments will instantly give anyone a good rep because it shows they are actually here to create a game rather than a quick buck.

I think what he did said in the latest progress report was good but late. Asking Patreons if they wanted to stop the payment before the release of the next update.

Ever built something?
Ever heard about the fact that work usually is paid?
Ever heard about the fact that money is needed to pay bills?
Mate, stop making it out to look like Yuno is out here struggling to buy food for the next day. The guy has a job outside of porn games and he's just fine without the Patreon money.

I have indeed built stuff before, and extending deadlines is a very natural part of it. Expectations and ideas mount on top of the project, and I can empathise with Yuno trying to make it look amazing. But that's not an excuse to go for months in silence leaving the people who are paying you unaware if their money was worth it.

I wonder why you are upset towards a hobby developer, but not towards AAA game publishers and developers who announce a game and with relatively little communication delay the game for literal years.
But I mean, I guess everyone in this forum is fucking Jesus Christ or something. Why are you making up my opinion on things I've never made comments on? Do you think I wouldn't be upset towards AAA game publishers too?

Yes Yuno should have communicated a hell of a lot more and better than he did.
Pretty much, you got there my dude.

Patreon is not an employer, at least not for the artists there, it's a fundraising platform, people can support artists...
Is the artist obliged to deliver anything? Not really... The artist only has to follow Patreon rules.
Can sponsors expect regular updates? They're not entitled to anything except what the artist promised, but legally even that is doubtful. BUT for the sponsors, they're not obligated in any way either, they can end their further support at any moment... They don't pay for a product, the artist is not working for them....
So it's probably a smart thing to do for the artist to make regular update reports, even if only to prevent people from ending their support...

"XYZ is a Milker!" is pretty much an insult to the character of the developer.
Whether it actually is true or not.

No matter how you twist and turn, that IS expressing hatred.

Sure I guess your bar for "hatred" is lower. But is that all you wanted to respond to from my message when you facepalmed it?

Damn, now I want to know what people think about this game. Why's it so addictive?

Any hot takes?
The game has had 1 release. I don't know what would even qualify as a hot take other than maybe "this game's visuals are shit". (No I don't actually believe this)

Either that or "This game is never seeing the finish line" (wouldn't surprise me if this happens)

IMO the only thing this game has going for it so far is the fantastic visuals. But again, it's only had 1 release, so who knows.

It seems to me that this is a trap for a novice developer. He cannot spend all his time on Patreon because the income from the game does not cover the cost of living and he has to work, thereby devoting less time to development. And if development is slow, it's hard to attract new subscribers, which is important when releasing early episodes to give the game a good start.
As for Episode 10, you know what game, I think it's coming soon. 2-3 months.

Yea, it's a real Catch-22. Although ... it seems like a lot of things in life require one to break through that threshold in order to attain success. Hopefully Yuno can achieve it.

To be fair, we are two months shy of a year since the last update. If the patreon is still gathering monthly donations...it's milking when 10 months come and go, without concrete activity.

The solution there, is don't release ANYTHING until you have substantive content, vs a proof of concept.
