Even when some say that whole story has been written from the beginning and even Dev said(they always say that there wasnt any changes) that i decline to believe it tbh, i think that there was a lot of changes.
In my opinion a lot of changes started happening since the backlash about Megan/Melissa and Megan being the main girl to pursue, there probably was whole path already written but mainly for Megan story.

Again, what you see in the comments does not reflect the reception. Content people have little reason to comment on it while dissatisfied people will go on ranting. If you make a poll and get sufficient number of people to vote on it, then you might see some feedback. Forum comments are simply not representative enough.

Almost all developers will say that they listen to their fans. Of course, you then get the instant logical fallacy that follows (which has even manifested through this discussion thread a few times in various guises) that, of course, the most important fans are the ones who are paying patrons. "Listen to the patrons most, because after all, they are obviously the most important, putting their money where their mouths are". If you read through most of the discussion thus far, I'm sure you saw several mentions of judging this mainly by how the patrons respond...

There are three really important reasons why that is a logical fallacy and a terrible thing to do. The first and most basic is this: whenever any amateur starts selling something, the first to support him and buy in are usually friends and family type supporters. People with a bias. Often people in the same social circles, with similar tastes and biases to the author. In other words, a natural 'bubble' and echo-chamber. It's like polling people for their opinion on adult games here on F95zone and expecting it to reflect the opinions of the world in general.

The second is similar, but acts to really magnify the first, and is a psychological effect. People who have 'invested' in something hate to feel like fools. They have the psychological 'confirmation bias' (along with variations of a couple of other similar biases) that will look at things in a way that seeks to justify their investment. They'll subconsciously place more weight and attention on things that confirm and reinforce their views and actions, and less on things that don't, and this can have a significant effect.

The third is the most obvious of them all, and right in the middle of my favourite specialist subject - Marketing. When you are starting out in something the small core of customers you have are not your main focus, unless you never want to grow. The focus is the ones who didn't yet buy in. Because growth comes always from converting the people that didn't yet become customers. In fact, when this is the business world, if a business plan is flawed, or a product just isn't quite right for any major market share, those edge-cases who are your customers are the ones who's advice would stop you growing to a larger fanbase or market share.

v6 should have been the end, instead of given the silly choice to save 1(not like he dated 2 heavy girls), the neighbor should pistol whipped you in the neck, you blacking out and all three die, the end.
I said in the former post that I would try the 7, but would most likely be the end for me as i did not like the sudden sociopath turn of the story.
Shame as i liked it early on, but I guess the game dev have a small niche audience that he/she target with this

Games gone all Game of Thrones - loads of tits and bums in the first few episodes followed by hardly any. Was there any sex at all in the latest update? I couldnt find any.

Used to be a fan - not anymore.

If you choose Rena there are good scenes of sex... After the death of your best friend (perhaps with a lesbian relationship) is hard makes tittiesfucks...

So fat the reception on his patreon has been positive - no negative comments noted so far.. this is not a development company - it’s a guy who got the idea for a story on a slow day at work.. so this is his first attempt at writing anything - and also his first VN - the game was developed in his spare time.. I give this information so that people can judge the game in context .. it will be criticized - and deservedly so for some aspects - but the author isn’t George r r Martin..

Even the reception on this site hasn't been that bad. Posts on this thread seem to be close to even split, people have not been adjusting their reviews down at least not enough to impact the overall average and new reviews have had more five star reviews than negative. I do hate to admit it but overall people do seem to like what's been done with the story.

There are so many games - hell, so much of the internet - dedicated to just straight up porn. You decided to tell a story instead. The results are astounding. I'm dying to figure out what is going on and how it's going to end. In fact, my only complaint is that the episode is too short!

Keep fighting the good fight. Many of us appreciate the hell out of it.

So whenever a new chapter is released, I like to replay the game multiple times with all the different paths, and im sure not many others have had the time to do so. currently I am on my second run through (the first being to play with whatever choices I felt right to make it a harem and sleep with as many people as I could) this time I focued on melissa and liam and a very important information I found happens if you hook up liam with rena (refer to walkthrough to learn how if you dont know already)

Great post - I’m actually caught in two minds about this ; as DrPinkcake had already written the story - on getting to episode 4 he probably faced some kind of conundrum - to change the outcome and depart from his original dream/story or continue on .. a more experienced writer might have decided to do the former - he didn’t receive any negative reaction either here or from his patrons,quite the contrary.. the reaction was very positive - but here’s the problem; people were judging it as a romantic drama - which it wasn’t ( no one knew different at the time ) so as far as DrPinkcake was concerned his original plan for the game was proceeding perfectly..
There was no - and couldn’t be any communication regarding the plot on his patreon; as this would give essential plot clues away.( ruining the whole project as far as DrPinkcake was concerned)
By now I would imagine DrPinkcake would have had some inkling as to what might happen - if he proceeded with the original story - that there would be uproar over how people’s beloved characters would be treated in the story.. as i’ve mentioned earlier a more experienced author might have stopped and rewritten the second part of the story - but that as i’ve said ( not a writer or developer so here I bow to others knowledge ) would have taken some considerable amount of time ( six months? ) the backlash from his patrons would have been severe - after all they were paying monthly...so he took a deep breath - and pressed on with his original dream/story.. should he be criticized for this?or applauded - I suppose I like many more of us will probably be able to judge better when this roller coaster of an endeavor finally comes to an end..

I've been taking a closer look at the game's patreon page now and the more I look at it the more I tend to agree that he absolutely shouldn't give any hints at all, but not for the reasons you stated.

I don't think that Pink had any qualms or second thoughts about pushing the story out exactly the way he initially planned. As a matter of fact I think he is rotating in his seat right now, laughing maniacally. The more I look at his patreon page the more I can't help but feel that it is in fact meticulously crafted to deceive the viewer.

No matter if this all ends in tears or it was all a sham and all ends merrily, all i can say is ...

It would be like Game of Thrones having Starks beheading, the Red Wedding and Jon Snows stabbing all at the same time. No time for any of it to have any impact or sink in which is why good writers pace it. I see people praise the fuck out of this but the pacing is all out the window.

He's working on the next project already, and you think he intentionally wrote this to deceive everyone rather than put forth an original work? The first 4 chapters certainly were deceptive in that they slowly worked us up into growing attachments, but that was so episode 5-8 would be effective. No one would have taken the last couple episodes seriously if those attachments and bonds weren't formed prior. We ALL would have laughed it off and said it was terribly written if that had been the case. The twists are there to get a knee jerk reaction, like a punch in the solar plexus. A very difficult to write response, which many just don't know how to respond to, lol.

It would have been no spoiler at all to simply say up front that the story may have some dark turns, and may have an unavoidable death of a main character. It's sensible to make those kinds of warnings because you never know if someone is about to download and play your game to get a welcome distraction from some real life tragedy - like the death of a close friend to some kind of violence - and chose what looks like a lovely sweet game about romance between a boring stockbroker and an innocent aspiring actress ... something they may have deliberately chosen because they absolutely don't want violence and mayhem - two things for which there are a billion other games, and yet they chose to play Acting Lessons for some reason...
