It's been an interesting journey, and there's one more leg to come before we reach the destination the creator had in mind all along. As I've maintained in my comments throughout this recent discussion, there's a lot to learn from what this game does right, and also from what this game might have done differently. In the Q&A, Doc basically said the same thing - that he's learned a ton from it - and that's all good for the future.
In any profession or endeavor, the hardest thing to do before you have literal years of experience is make estimates. Sticking to his original estimated plan on how many episodes he needed, and what events should be in each one, is why the pacing feels off on many parts of the story. 2 episodes out of 8 where the player has almost no choices, and the story is railroaded from the choices in the first 6 episodes probably now seems like too much - but you don't have hindsight when originally planning out the development and portrayal of the story you want to tell.
I'll be interested to see the conclusion. I'll likely hate it, but I'll still be interested.
What I think I'll enjoy a lot more is seeing where Doc goes with the next game, where he gets to use more humour, to focus on new characters and their relationships (Doc's greatest strength as a writer), and where he's gotten some of that newbies mistake of thinking a plot has to go ultra-dark to be exciting out of his system.
