Game update, second link
If you like the game at all, please support it, but FEEL FREE to go on itch and tell them what needs to be fixed. They really seem to think the game is "complete" and ready for just "add more girls to play!" It is not finished, in my opinion (sidenote, I'm a bit of a perfectionist). It needs polish. It needs someone who can pay attention to detail and is willing to do trial and error to get the play-control as smooth and fun as possible. I feel like people don't play-test their own games. Like just ... how can you NOT be aware that the basic core of the game needs tweaking. Oh, and a SAVE function. Come on now.
Video from December update: this is actually a recording of me playing the full (3rd?) level.

You have a very long reach for your attacks, and need to attack from a distance. I'm not a fan of "one handed" game controls, so I'm not thrilled that you can only move with WASD and not the arrow keys while you use Space to attack. My hands feel crowded, and I don't play this sort of thing often enough to use my thumb naturally. I want one hand JUST controlling movement. I'm too used to game controllers, I guess. I also wish there was a separate key for the "dodge-roll," because I keep trying to switch from moving forward to crouching for a low attack and end up rolling by accident. I noticed that the thread was updated, but the game file was not ... felt odd. Everyone's still talking about the October version. Honestly, I'm not sure how much it's changed.
Nevertheless, here's the December update:
Mega
Once upon a time, I pointed out to them that most of their kickstarter backers (from original kickstart) were going specifically for the amount at which they got THIS (which was a "side game" at the time), and that they may want to think about what that implies about their potential audience. Now, THIS is all there is (for now). I actually liked the full game. In it's last condition that I saw, it had some issues that resulted in a BIG learning curve, but once I got the hang of it, I quite enjoyed it as a game. I hope they someday get to finish the original project.
In the end, I just feel like the two game concepts needed to come together more. People today are too ... I don't know what to call it, but "mildly sexy humor" without ACTUAL adult content seems to be kind of a thing of the past, in my opinion. People aren't afraid of sex like they used to be, so if you IMPLY sex, you may as well give it to them. I really think they should have incorporated the gameplay modes into one game. Keep the "Area Exploration Mode" and the "Swarm Attack" (
Super Chalk-Fighter Turbo!!!) mode, and mix in these levels in-between as you move from one area of the campus to the next.
Also, all the small things. I made ONE SCREEN of an overhead Zelda-like game in Godot before I decided I simply didn't have the free time to make the game I wanted to, but the movement and hit detection on that one screen was FLAWLESS, because game-control is one of--if not THE--most important elements of game design. If the controls don't work smoothly, you could be telling the greatest story ever told and filling it with hot naked babes and unlockable codes for free merch but it will never be very successful, because if people can't play it ... nothing else matters.
For me, this whole thing is still just lingering like an undead in the "unfulfilled potential" zone. I WANT this game to be better than what it is, because I believe it CAN. I just don't know if the devs have the will to make that happen.
