It's not that I just don't like her for the sake of it. I don't like her because of the things she did and the things she's doing now. Obviously maybe there's more to that story but right now she just isn't likable. And that "only" string is actually kind of a big deal for me because given their history and current situation I would expect her to be nice just for the sake of being nice. And I'm not trying to be an asshole by saying this but I'm still waiting for someone to tell me any good traits she has. Being rich and feeling guilty for something bad you did are not good traits. I am honestly trying to understand why some people like her because I just don't see it.
Exactly! She just doesn't have that "feeling guilty, trying to make up for it" vibe around her. Also that forced voyer scene with the escorts...

sure, abandoning a child is awful. But I don't know why she did that, so it's a grey area for me.
She told her daughter why she did it...she was more concerned about her career and having a kid was an impediment. Could there be more to the story? Maybe, and maybe in the coming updates we'll find out more. Nothing in her story right now though says that she COULDN'T have raised the child, but that she DIDN'T WANT TO.

Unfortunately, a problem for MOST of these games with this type of backstory, none of the main characters never wanna sit down with each other and hash everything out...all the information and backstory comes out in dribs and drabs, and by the time all is said and done, you realize that if everyone had just said everything from the very beginning, then a whole lot of grief and aggravation could have been avoided.

This type of intellectual argument is all well and good for all of us out here in the meta, but for right now in this instance, the MC has ZERO reason to like and/or trust Anne. MrKnobb has said that Anne had nothing to do with him being evicted, so WE can't hold that over Anne's head...but the MC doesn't know that, and the way events unfolded so far, it would be a perfectly logical assumption for him to make. One that could be cleared up quite quickly if he just talked to her and expressed his feelings and concerns.

And as far as 'how long she's been looking for him'...it couldn't have been that long, and with her money, damn sure couldn't have been that hard. He's living in the same city and never changed his name...ain't like he's in WitSec...so that argument flies right out the window.

Anne told her daughter that she feels guilty and wants to make it up. I personally feel she's gone about it the wrong way so far, but maybe she does. I'm half willing to give her a chance, but in my mind she needs to work a damn sight harder than she is at it. It all boils down to communication.

Luckily that scene has been fixed to allow you to avoid it but I get you on the other stuff.

Honestly though, I wonder how people would feel about Anne of the Pro's weren't there at all...

right, which is why I speak for myself and not the mc. The mc could hate Anne's guts, and want to hang her and that's fine. What I'm talking about is when people say "I hate Anne" not "the mc should hate Anne", and for the mc reasoning for being a "yes man" I have my own theory which is quite biased because of things I experienced in my life, so I can't give a logical answer there. It's fine of you or any of you dislike her, but as a player I don't live in the mc mind, I can relate, I can like them, I can love them but I also can take a step back and ask myself the questions I'm asking and I found myself more curios than angry. But you or anybody else here might feel or approached it differently than me and end up feeling very differently.

I'm not trying to change anybody mind, but I'm try to ask questions rather then making up my mind about something I don't know yet. And hopefully I wasn't disrespecting anybody with my comments, as I was trying to add another pov on the subject.

I agree, with you about "just talking it out" but I can honestly say I've been in situation in my life where I was under the assumption that the other side wont care/understand and just didn't say anything even with people close to me, as a player experiencing the story it can be quite annoying, that's true. And I won't deny that I find it annoying, but we will have to see what's the reason behind it when it comes and we can judge it then.

I think that it's a testament to good storytelling when people are able to immerse themselves enough into a MC's life that they have discussions like this, so kudos to MrKnobb first of all.

The big problem I have (and it's MY problem, not Knobb's) is that what it boils down to is that I can't speak intelligently on the MC's behavior from his point of view. I've never had those problems and I've never been in his situation, so any decisions that are made and feelings expressed by the MC I end up looking through my own experiences and get to thinking "that's not what *I* would have done" or "that's not how *I* would feel"...

For me that is both interesting and frustrating... *I* am not the MC of the story...he is...but the story is enough to pull me in and 'insert' myself into his shoes...

She acted like a bitch in the past? sure, abandoning a child is awful. But I don't know why she did that, so it's a grey area for me. There are plenty of good reason to get a child to someone who is better suited than you at rising them if you can't do that in that point in your life, but it's a gamble which we don't know why she even took and I want to know.
Except foster care is the equivalent of telling a 5 year old, good luck, and uh,try not to get raped too much.

I don't know many people who got invited to live with the super hot rich woman and her daughter who abandon them .

But leaving my sarcastic ass behind.

From my experience in life, I can relate to the mc. I can say that as a socially awkward person I had the moments of "confidence" the mc showed and I was also in situations where I didn't say no because I was simply too awkward. I don't know how much mrknobb intended for it or how deep he wants to explore the abandonment issue, but it's also something that can drive someone to do stupid things with people they shouldn't in hope for their "approval".

But all of that is very much me reading into it, whether it was intended or not? I don't really know.

I don't know a lot about the foster care system, but much like me you are basing this on your own life experiences or discoveries. But not every story which foster care system is about how the kid gets raped there.

Some stories go full dark mod, with all the awful things, while other simply acknowledge that's it's shitty but don't force their world to be like the real world in the aspect.

It's fair that you feel angry about it, it's a pretty shitty system. I won't try and change how you feel about it.

Hold up, I thought Anne was supposed to be the antagonist as she fits that role perfectly. But now people are saying she isnt? Im so confused by this game.
On behalf of the Dev, may he not decide to shot me....

Anne is not supposed to be the antagonist in this story.

I beg do differ, if you hate Anne for what she has done and how she feels to you, that is all good.

But if you dont like her because she has a sex life of her own, that is a different story and already "fixed" so you at least dont have to witness it visually and in full. But that one can not be taken as an argument against her character imo.

Except foster care is the equivalent of telling a 5 year old, good luck, and uh,try not to get raped too much.
That is your view and thats ok. But not every child in foster care gets raped or am I mistaken? And I bet there are enough people out there, that really believe their child gets a better treatment than with them, if they give it up to foster care.. at least thats what I think on that matter.

Oh no the point im making is she didnt get to choose, where the MC ended up. She gave him up,and the government put him somewhere.

I dont care how not into having the MC around she was 17 years ago. Her being emotionally neglectful is still better than what she chose for him. Shit, she couldnt hire a nanny?

Let me reiterate, this is a 5 year old child were talking about, and she basically threw him away like a used tampon. That is a legitimately monstrous thing to do. Someone entrusted their child to her,and she basically went lol nope, can't be bothered.

I see stuff like She told her daughter and she said and then the story of I abandoned him for my carrier and money reapeted as part of the justification as to why she's a villan to be hated.

Now forgive me if Im wrong but did she not tell the MC that she would come up with some made up reason to tell her daughter.
in order to explain why she would feel guilty enough to justify his living in their home and going to her collage.
Just so he daughter wouldn't suspect he was her babysitter?
or did I imagine that?.

Who know's what she tells little bitch could be true or partly true we will find out as the game continue's but untill that time it shouldn't really be used as part of a reason to hate the woman because it could also be total bullshit to put little bitch of the scent.

Ay yes lets just forget her abandoning him, making it rich, then only seeking him out when it benefited her. Manipulating him when hes weak and has lost his home, to essentially work for her to protect the daughter she actually cares about. But man that college money is sweet.
A wee bit harsh when you consider that the MC himself seems to be starting to think the deal is a little oneside in his favour when he agree's in conversation that the babysitting gig seems a little too easy.

Of course she couldn't possibly of originaly made that job up because the MC might was even more likely to tell her to fuck of if he thought it was just a handout he was getting. then when he excepted decide to take advantage being the utter villan that she is?.
It's just a theory of mine mentioned be and of course there's currently no proof either way.

so far the only string is "watch my sexy ass bitch daughter" doesn't seem like the worse thing considering she is basically "pays" over 100k for his education + laptop for his studies + free rent in a huge house. So far, I don't really see the "villain" move here
You forgot cloth's she bought him designer cloths to that bitch.

Just Sayin I'm thinking of starting my own Anne fanclub just because she's so well liked ;)

I think Anne should be declared a saint! She bought "stuff" for the MC after all!

Now, someone would argue that the dude has so many emotional scars (let's not even talk about the physical ones) that he doesn't need material goods, but someone to show him they actually care about him, show him love (no, not that kind of love you pervs!) and how it feels to be a part of a loving family...

Naaah... As long as she keeps throwing money at him and he gets to wear designer clothes all wounds will heal by themselves, right?

nobody says that she shouldn't also show love(simply throwing money, isn't love), but at the same time her actions are not one that befit a villain do they? an ass? sure, but not someone who tries to take advantage of you. She might be awkward around him as well, and don't know exactly how to show love. After all she is the one that fucked up, and not him and you tell me how many people you know that are upfront and readily says "I fucked up, sorry" and that shit gets worse as time goes by. She probably over corrects, and tried to do what she might have done with her daughter(just a guess). And of course it's very shallow, but at least she trying something but it's not sustainable and is not an alternative by any means.

If her and the mc find another moment to talk, maybe she'll try and get closer to him. I do want her to talk to him, and hopefully be more open about everything, and show actual signs of "taking care" of him(and not just in a pervy way).

Again, this is the beginning of the game. There needs to be some character development. She can't just jump him saying "I love you!! I'm sorry!", as everyone than would've said she doesn't really mean it(much like how people read into her action now). She need to show us what she is willing to do and right now, she shows that she is willing to taking care of him financially.

Yeah, but throwing money at the MC's general direction at every chance, doesn't make her a good person, just someone who thinks money can buy everything. Even forgiveness.

I'm not saying she's the devil, but saying she's showing remorse by buying him stuff, is the very least shallow.

I don't know what she might do in the future, but people usually don't judge someone's character based on guesses, but on what they've seen. So far she's just buying him shit, already got wasted in front of him and didn't even bother to reschedule her fuck session, so that there's no chance for the MC to walk into a black dude swinging his dick around in his first couple of days living there...

No Offence but if you didn't dislike Anne so much or the BBC scene would you even care.
First off it's her house and she's an old enough and ugly enough to do what she wants why would she even need to reschedule anything its none of his fucking business what she do's or with whom she do's it with in her house.

And he's only been there a short time so what if she go's out and gets drunk he's family not her f-kin boss.
you telling me no ones ever seem there aunty pissed before its bad judgment sure but not a hanging offence.
I Believe she apologises for that anyway.
And It seems it's only because she suspects the MC might snoop that she seems to decide to stop anyway.

Not to mention It was the MC that heard them and went looking in the first place his rooms not even upstairs.
as far as you can tell he's ground floor conner room facing the pool.

People keep going on about that scene like it's her fault first off the MC said he would be out of the house secondly she didn't open the door infact she asked for it to be closed it's the BBC's bright Idea to open the door and his equally bright Idea to come say high and yet she's to blame?.

Not to mention it's been said the MC suspects her of making him homeless well nope sorry to say as far as I tell he dosn't he never even thinks it he dosn't say it so where do's the Idea he possibly suspects it come from.

Please for the love of god If you gonna complain about Anne please stick to the ingame facts.
And maybe then I can stop defending the Bitch.
I don't really like her that much myself.

Just Sayin.

The weird part about that scene IMO,was her canceling the next appointment. If it didn't bother her the first time, why is it bothering her now.

As a matter.lf fact, why is she switching all this shit up after being pretty clear she wasn't going to change when the MC moved in?

Because if she really cared about him and wanted to make amends, she would try to make this transition for him as easy as possible. The whole "I'm so sorry I abandoned you! Please come live to my place where I will still not give a fuck about you or your feelings, but I'll buy you shit." isn't what someone who's trying to show remorse does.

When I have guests in my house I don't walk around in my boxers like I do when I'm alone. It's common sense/decency. She invited him there, he didn't show up unannounced to mess up with her lifestyle. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to think that the escort dude shouldn't run around the house butt naked. Even if it wasn't for the MC, she has a damn daughter who lives there!

But he said he'd be out! Yeah, sure. Because everything goes according to plans 100% of the time... No one ever returned home earlier or later that he was supposed to...

Also apparently this escort subplot is important enough we got the same phone call from 2 different pov's.

Anyone got any theories why?
