Here as well although it's now getting to that worry point again.
I might be wrong, but didn't the progress tracker got a tiny little update? I seem to remember that earlier it said "that last prediction was ass, hope to get it done by feb??? (not sure)" and now it says "sorry, that prediction was ass, one more scene...". But I could also be hallucinating. who can tell these days

It does seem to somewhat change with the wording ever so slightly at random. It's hard to tell anymore.

The previous update was that they hoped to finish by end of year.

Yeah, you're hallucinating :p Like ^ said, should be released before the end of the year. before that it said "it will be released this summer". At the looks of it he meant the next summer.

I'm getting tired of people going by tags and not using the search function...
Or reading posts above their own...
I guess reading is too hard for people playing text based games.

Should I download it even if it's abandoned? I mean depending on how much content it has
Technically, it's not entirely abandonded (I hope) - the dev took a break from it to put some final touches on one of their other VNs (Parental Love), and due to forum rules, Apartment 69 ended up being marked as abandoned. That said, last update on their was two months ago, and the dev hasn't been to active on their own Discord, so the future is getting more uncertain.

Still, version 0.06 of Apartment 69 does have a bit of content in it (considering it's about 2.4 GB if you include the patch, which is ~600 MB on its own).

It's a common problem on this site. Honestly if some people are so poor at reading or finding information on a site that hosts games that are like 70-80% visual novels then why not stick to watching porn? one of the most common questions are if something has been abandoned or if there's NTR and the answers always in the overview or on the page that they comment on.

Honestly, at this point it's not out of the question for it to actually be abandoned. It went from "before the end of the year, almost done!" to "one more scene!" to no update for over two months and no one has heard from the developer since February. I get the frustration, but at this point, the concern is warranted.

The dev is not very active on discord either but his last message there was a couple of days ago. So at least we know that he is not dead.

I selected the "no Nea" option, which worked fine. However, Nea was written as such a core character that the result was a badly chopped up game that became so pointless that I just quit playing.
Ok why tf did you come to a game focused on a character you don't like?

The same reason I'd go to a restaurant whose main dish is something I don't like. There's other stuff on the menu, and I'd been under the assumption no one was going to force the food I didn't like on me. Kind of like how Luxee said Nea would be an entirely optional character, and/or that the romance path would be optional. Except it's not really. The game is set up to funnel you towards Nea with the seeming assumption by Luxee that if you just get to know her, you'll fall in love with her. If not, you'll get punished and may not get far in the game.

Despite his words, Luxee never really planned for a game where Nea wasn't the focus along any path, which I suspect is why the next update and any succeeding updates are so delayed or may never come. They don't know where to go from here, especially after perhaps finally realizing that a huge portion of his fanbase will never have a romantic interest in Nea and don't want one forced upon them. They want the harem game that A69 teases at being but may never become, at least without Nea being an inevitable part of it.

For what it's worth his number's stability is because he took the very respectable route of not charging every month, but every update. I personally kept my pledge because that shows he's not just being a grifter like a lot of porn game devs and he deserves the credit for that.

I said fanbase, which extends beyond Patreon, and began back with Parental Love which was a much different and in my mind better game than A69. I was a supporter of his on Patreon all through the PL days, and for the first update or two of A69 before it didn't seem like a good use of my money. I don't think I'm alone in that. I'm still semi-interested in seeing what he puts out, but to the extent that I'm "delusional" it's in believing that he'll ever return to the release schedule or quality level of PL. If he did and made the Nea romance stuff truly optional, I'd renew my Patreon pledge in a heartbeat.

He definitely gets credit for that, and as you point out, there's zero cost to people following him on Patreon in remaining his supporters since he doesn't charge by the month. He's not actively milking people like other devs. I'll also give him credit for times in the past when he put stuff like "should I switch to A69 or keep working on PL" up as votes on his Patreon, and then actually did keep working on PL when people voted for that, even though he very clearly wanted to work on A69 instead. I think he's learned not to put stuff like that to vote though. He has a tendency to assume his fans will want what he wants, and is surprised when that doesn't turn out to be the case. I think he still has trouble understanding how everyone isn't madly in love with Nea and that has affected a lot of his choices.

Won't prevent people from accusing Luxee to be milking patrons though. This website is chuck full of retards who can't do the slightest research before throwing accusations...

Well, yeah, we agree on that, the time between updates could be better, as for whether Parental love is a better game than Apartment 69 or not, well I strongly disagree there, parental love seems like a worse game to me, especially in writing, but I understand that you like it so much if you are a fan of taboo and harem and I also understand that you do not like this game very much if you are not a fan of nea, but still, it is obvious that she is the main LI, and there is nothing that It can be done, and I doubt luxee will change that, but you never know.

Well, I'm intrigued to know how luxee's going to deal with the fact that Nea isn't on the route where you don't want to romance her.

Neither PL nor A69 will win awards for their writing. PL at least had more of it in a better narrative form versus A69, which feels like you're playing through the replay gallery of another game. That's part of the game design, in that you're walking around and revisiting memories, but I don't think that concept is really working. I still love the analogy someone used that the game feels like you're walking through the phantom version of our world in Stephen King's "The Langoliers" when you play this game.

I'm a fan of taboo, although I am not necessarily a huge fan of harem. I'm fine if I end up with just one love interest, or if I can pick and choose from one or more available options. I don't want to have to be stuck with one I don't like. For instance, the submissive woman at school that is the main source of sex so far? I can totally do without her. It's completely fair if others don't want the incest part of it, or the loli. As long as they aren't being transphobic about it, everyone should be free to want to skip her as a love interest without criticism.

We all know the main love interest is meant to be Nea just from some seeing how the game has unfolded and the entire backstory here outside of the game. Luxee's website barely mentions Nea though, listing her along with a few other of the love interests with no special emphasis. The quote from the website is literally "Meet girls such as Nea, Cha'relle and Seki, as you seek to make your apartment number prophecy a reality." The game itself starts with the MC recounting how he met his girlfriend. That is, the setup of the game is "who did the MC ultimately end up with?" That is presented as the core concept of the game, which is immediately undermined by the game's unrelenting focus on just one character. Not only does Nea get the lion's share of the time, but her story is presented in a completely different and more romantic manner than all other scenes so far. The fact that she is supposed to be an optional character also belies the fact that she's set up as the main love interest. This is a large part of what I mean when I say that the game has a lot of issues to it that have just piled up after each update that somehow need to be fixed, which I don't think would be easy to do because "Nea is the inevitable love interest" is woven so tightly into the fabric of the game to this point.

Well, I'm intrigued to know how luxee's going to deal with the fact that Nea isn't on the route where you don't want to romance her.
Exactly this. I'm not sure how Luxee plans to move forward with the friendship path at all after this. My guess is that we won't see anything regarding it in the next update because he doesn't know, and will kick that can down the road. That's assuming that the friendship path doesn't just end with Nea's death. I haven't played it in so long, but I don't know if the "avoid Nea" path even goes anywhere. I know in the first update or two taking that route effectively blocked progress in the game.
