Exactly - female protagonist. You have no choice here. Among the male characters you find no such problem (in any case, you can choose your fate).
The fact that men treat women as sex objects rather than human beings, for me is understandable (though not acceptable), but the fact that women represent themselves so? Why? Make the game solely as jerk off material? This is obviously easier than creating something more ambitious.
Forgive me, but I am one of those who can (and like) read. What's worse - I understand what I'm reading.

Man, this game is difficult for me. Despite the problems I have with it (for example, it seems like none of the choices particularly matter), I would like to support it. It's just that none of the support tiers on Patreon seem worth it. Why the hell would I spend $6 a month to get a whole 2 days of early access? To even get more than a week of early access you have to spend nearly $20 a month, which seems absurd to me.

I enjoy the game well enough and I hope it improves over time, but I really think the dev would make money and get more support overall if the prices were more reasonable.

You should try Coceter Chronicles. While it will sadly never be finished, the female protagonist really is more heroine than cum dump (though she can be that too based on choices). She does start as something of a victim, but overcomes that fairly soon.
There is also Heavy Five, which I haven't tried the female protag of it, but I'm pretty sure it's as well written for the female (and also a female dev).

So, you enjoy the game well enough for what? To play for free? But not well enough to support the developer's efforts? You need to feel like you're "buying" something other than simply rewarding the developer for entertaining you?

I enjoy it enough to bother downloading and playing it, yes. If the dev wants any more than that, then either the quality of the game has to improve significantly or the rewards for paying have to be worth it. A quick glance at the overall numbers on Patreon would seem to indicate that I'm hardly alone in this, also.

Even a cursory glance at any other Patreon-supported game on this site is enough to show that this game vastly overcharges for the content it delivers. You can feel free to throw away a ridiculous amount of money to get almost nothing if you want, but I'm fairly sure most of us don't have the kind of money lying around to do that.

Perhaps that's true, in many cases. "Beefy" has left positive comments in regard to other projects, so may not be the case here.

He just seems to find it incredulous that this particular developer has the audacity to solicit contributions for her efforts.

Sylvie posts the game here for free and completely without charge. I've never seen her soliciting monetary support from anyone here... the links to her patreon or subscribe star are there for you to use or ignore as you wish. Slyvie also takes active participation her and is as you say funding the entire effort herself. Sure a few of us support her, but I doubt the game will stop if that stopped.
