I really hope digi found a good "cooing" sound - I hear it in my head each time she does it, but would still like it if he were able to get a really good sound clip - pitch fluctuating around F# - a nice Alto coo....
haha yeah that would be nice i also always imagine it with a sweet soft voice - *cooing* .. i always have to smile then she does it :D
but i dont think we will "hear" more of her sweet *cooing* sounds since she developes so fast and i wont hold it against him if he doesnt find a sound because i hear it in my head :D

I had read - pages ago, so I'm not sure exactly where - that he'd said something on Dis or Pat about looking for a voice actress to do it. I expect it will be one of her quirks for at least another release or two, and he'd likely update 0.5 to add it in if he went to the trouble of getting it made. The way I have my saves for this one, I have points at the beginning of each new chapter for each of my routes and could go back and experience it from when she first started.

I hope he don't insert a sound for this. I love Artemis' "cooing" I've in my head when reading those parts. I'm afraid a sound would destroy it and can never become as good as the sound we've in our heads for her.
Fully agree. It just destroys the immersion.

Yeah, I don't need sounds in a game. The argument always comes up with people talking about how "the music makes the scene" or crap like that - but I don't care. I like the game to be silent. If it can't convey the needed tone through the writing, then the writing is poor.

Having any part of a game voiced before it's complete is a foolish idea, just due to how long dev time takes in the first place. Get the shit done, and then potentially look at having voice talent added.

It depends. Good ost it's great, but you shouldn't mortgage your house to license music. Sounds and voices, on the other hand, are super iffy and tend to be bad because you need high quality stuff for it to marginally contribute, and it's not worth the price.

just played it again the last few days out of boredom and because i really love this game..
and always at this point:

View attachment 3773371

i am really conflicted :DD
i mean.. its the right thing to scold her.. everyone with children knows that buuut...
how can anyone be mad at her?? :D

View attachment 3773386

i just want to cuddle her smoother her with love and protect her from every danger :D
but yeah.. i always end up scolding her :(
she has to learn and sometimes you have to be firm..
at the kitchen i went easy with her (you cant just tell a (kid) to do this and expect it to get it right the first time)
but running away is a no go..
and still
-
Artemis is a good girl
-
and i really cant wait for the next update.

keep up the good work digi.b (y)
I think that was the only time I ended being firm with Artemis. Even on the escalator I did the carry. It makes more sense to let her do it herself..., but I mean c'mon look at her she's so adorable

and as mentioned - while in the mall running away.. - .
and i am glad that the MC not only scolds her but also apologizes and admits his own mistake...
otherwise i probably wouldnt have taken the firm approach if he was just being mean to her :D

But good writing with good sound enhances it.

Actually, no, that does nothing whatsoever for me, but I'm not blaming it on the writing or the music, I just hate that ancient/medieval setting shit.

If a scene is good without music, it will probably be good (or better) with it. If it is not good without music, it's bad, period.

So, what it boils down to is this: you have no soul. :ROFLMAO:
I'm with Ilhares. I don't think these VNs need music. It's a nice perk but a vn can be good without any sound at all. With that said I'm a reader, I don't watch movies, and I'm 75% deaf anyway so I guess I'm a little biased.

I think there are three elements that make a good VN. Good writing (character writing in particular), good visuals (blender, posing, etc..), and hot sex scenes. The best VNs have all three of those elements but good VNs can get away with at least one of the three and still get people to follow it. I think Artemis has all three.

A shitty VN with good music is still a shitty VN. Just look at Summer's Gone. :ROFLMAO:

Never said a VN can't be good unless it has sound, but a well written, well rendered VN that also has good sound is enhanced - at least for those of us that can really hear and appreciate it well.

I don't want actual voice acting - spoken word stuff - but a coo, a moan, the wet sound of passionate intercourse, the ambient sounds of the outdoors at night, in the restaurant, the mall, the classroom. Subtle sounds that go with the scene, nothing heavy handed - these things can also help set the mood and scene and bring about feelings and emotions in the reader/watcher/consumer that wouldn't be present otherwise. For those into "immersion", the more senses that are pleasantly and effectively engaged, the more the mind can immerse itself in a scene - that isn't just me saying, but actual science.

If one doesn't like it - and when it's done poorly, I don't like it, either - that is their prerogative, certainly, but one can miss out on so much if they don't give it a try, especially when a Dev has gone to great lengths to build a scene with sounds that he believes will enhance it. Eight songs on a loop? That does nothing. Thunderclaps, rain, coos, waves breaking, the sound of life surrounding the scene - that makes a scene great.

Ironically I found this game right around the same time, except I noticed it was rapidly gaining popularity when sorting by weighted rating. The MC is still psychologically abused (par for the course), but rather than being gut punched with a suicide scene you're gut punched with crippling depression and anxiety (and a dead mother...).

As for Artemis scenes: I honestly think they'll exist as Digi's way of appealing to the incest crowd without jumping through hoops to avoid the legal definition. It's a rather clever way of going about it since a sizable chunk of devs abuse the "stepmom"/"step-sibling"/"step-child" tropes when trying to circumvent Patreon's TOS.
It's not a bad idea to search for good game like that. I don't think that popular mean good but it's worth to see what the main game are outside of the obvious BaDIK and other stuff like that. On the plus side, you never know what you will find, it's an adventure on itself : )

As for Artemis, from what i understand, it's generally one year of waiting between each release + digi has his mom to take care of. So i will come here to see the update sporadically but i don't expect anything before winter.

Good wait for everyone, i'm personally eager to see how thing will turn out : )

Artemis DevLog CH6

Hey everyone,
Thank you all again for the warm messages, it really means a lot to me. Unfortunately, my mother passed Saturday morning. The weekend has been very difficult for my sister and me, but we've got an amazing support system which includes you guys. I apologize I haven't been able to reply to your messages, but I've read them, and I greatly appreciate your kind words. Bit of trivia, the Hope hat and marathon that Kindra and June participated in was something personal I added into Artemis for my mom.
I'm pushing out this post a little earlier than usual. My sister and I just got done searching my mom's documents finding what we need to get my mom's affairs in order. And I wanted to report in since tomorrow is going to be a very busy day and I wanted to make sure I maintain communication with you guys. I know, I know... digi, take care the important matters. But as my sister and I sifted through our mom's paperwork, we noticed how meticulous she was. And how great her work ethic was, as we saw in the various documents and emails (this woman printed out her email chains that she felt were going to be important.). Having seen all this, I can see where I get it from now. My mom was the type to get work done and apparently the apple didn't fall far from the tree.
That said, I'll be working with my sister these next few days getting things in order for my mom. Take a bit of time to take care of myself as well. Then later this week be back on my regular schedule with Artemis.
Again, I really appreciate all the support you guys have given me and my family. Because of you guys, I was able to spend a lot of time with my mom this year. Up to the very end. And I thank you all so very much for that.
Be safe out there.
