I enjoy the game, I've played it since maybe the 2nd update, but I do feel like it would've been better by being more serious and Avalon/Byron only. It's a bit outlandish sometimes, actually fairly often, and I don't think that fits the tone of an abused girl and her depressed uncle healing together. I really enjoy Dallas and Octavia, but they aren't needed. They seem to mostly be for filler sex/lewd scenes with Avalon. Penny too, she is too much of a Mary Sue character. Pet Panther, ninja skills, super smart. She gets too much screen time too, she is practically the 3rd MC.

It is a good first game though, hopefully the last update (if he sticks to 8 updates) will be a solid one.

The dev hasn't finished writing the story yet, but it will be possible to only focus on Avalon and Byron in a monogamous relationship. They're focusing on the polyamory path right now because that's what most people are playing.

The monogamous paths already exist. They do not alter the story or Penny beyond loss of additional sex scenes. Or rather the only sex scenes.

He is currently working on rendering the final scene.

They said only one update left last I heard  or maybe I drank since then...

I honestly didn't mind Dallas and Octavia. My only issue is that the whole focus of the vn went from Avalon to Penny, Penny, Penny. I'm sure her vn will be great and i like the character But I just wish she didn't hog all the updates and focus after she was created here, in this vn.

Just hope any future games have a steadier through line.

And maybe slightly more proportionate eyeballs.
haha yeah the pupils are a bit much

How far along are you? Penny is the detective Byron hires to investigate Avalon's rape. She is basically omnipotent. Except one part where she feels bad for having a flaw but not really.

They know who Penny is but not who "Mary sue" is. Sadly i don't know either. I assume its from anime or atleast the Japanese culture

Who needs a lecture on this Mary Sue prototype gurl ?
Definition:
A Mary Sue is a generic name for any fictional character who is so competent or perfect that this appears absurd, even in the context of the fictional setting. Mary Sues are often an author's idealized or flawless self-insertion. They may excel at tasks that should not be possible for them. A male character with similar traits may be labeled a "Gary Stu".

Often in adult games I see characters that can easily be characterized as Mary Sues or Gary Stus. People who are good looking, with flawless physiques, perfect charm, and are put in ludicrous situations regularly and escape or "win" beyond all reason. On the other end of the spectrum, I also see truly pathetic characters who are created as lovable losers that somehow succeed in love (or harems, or netori, or whatever). What I rarely see are just normal people. Which is to be expected in this type of game.
On the topic of my OP though, I've also noticed a trend of trying to sneak a Gary Stu by us by creating a character that is staggeringly good at most everything and good looking but has one HUGE personality defect. These actually annoy me the most as they rip me right out of any kind of immersion I might be having with a story. My personal opinion on Mary Sues/Gary Stus aligns with yours and other replies to this post for the most part. These games are based around fantasy, so I'm perfectly fine with a perfect character if the story around it can support it.
I'd rather have a story filled with near perfect beings than a single shower spying sleep rapist.

I don't complain about the Stu family in games because anything is better than those shitty pervert characters that make me throw up in my mouth.

I'll take Lady sparkle hair with her perfectly formed abs, tits that leak chocolate milk and a pussy that tastes like cream of the gods over Mr Monologues while staring at a pair of tits like he's never seen them before.

The Stu brigade just make me roll my eyes at the siliness of it all, I can still read their stories. Those pathetic perverts that think spying on people in the shower is sexually gratifying ruin games for me and I end up deleting them.
I like badass characters.
But not flawless characters.

Color me shocked that a lesbian is ok with perfect female beings. However attempts to insult "shower peepers" aka the entire audience for porn games.

Ahh thanks, never heard that one before. Although I don't find the Penny character that attractive, she definitely seems to meet the other criteria to me. Actually, after playing the other route, Octavia definitely gives me those vibes too. I think I realize why both those characters annoy me, they are both know-it-alls  As per your summary, I agree this is likely a reflection of the author.

IMO if the VN had more updates the evolution of the relationship between Avalon and Byran would happen at a slower more realistic pace and be more believable. Adding Dallas to the mix gives the sex outlets while maintaining a slower Avalon+Byran relationship development.
One issue I have with too many branching stroylines in any VN is that the end result always seems to be no one story gets the development is needs and they all end up wanting. DMD seems to be suffering from this.
It's like having only half a cup of tea left in the pot and adding water to make up the difference in the cup.

Very nice update. You're an unbelievable bastard! When Sharol shot Byron, I was about ready to murder you!

Just as a point of information, I would be surprised if you didn't know, but if not, you should be aware that there is nothing that says that all members of a poly relationship need to be sexually involved with each other. There would be nothing weird or strange or unexpected about Leah being involved sexually only with Byron. The only requirement is that all of the people involved are aware of and approve of each other. There is no reason to leave Leah out in the cold unless she is fundamentally opposed to sharing Byron.
