Let me just flip the table and respond to you exactly like you did. May be not exactly because you will see some facts in my responds.
"SUCCESSFUL GAME"?! I don't know if you notice but, the original game was in development for more than 3.5 years. And, it has a gameplay length of 2 hours, max.

I liked the original, was baffled when it didn't continue. Why not just continue where the original failed to finish? why go into a remake? . I feel like the original was nearly about halfway finished before it got abandoned? arts are exactly the same according to these images.
Long story short, there have been at least 3 or 4 attempts at the story. Rainces (original author) abandoned it but would show up sporadically when Axeman started his own version. That screwed up what Axeman was doing because Rainces would change just enough to screw over Axeman. I got pretty far on the pre-production work with a few others, but I lost the will to run with this. SummerP and DonRP are working on their own versions. I may come back and write the Bad Bobby story as a story or screenplay for a comic, but I'm not interested in doing a game at this point. But I am willing to help both Don and Summer on their projects.
You're LITERALLY exactly the people i was talking about.
You have ZERO idea how much time this takes. I spend days making a single character then sometimes tweak them for weeks or months. Building a single scene Well can take an hour or hours. Posing. Lighting... just no clue. Then hours rendering a single scene.. then.. then

i played it. and that's not worth 1 cent. All stolen. and about the arrest. is totally beside the story. Unimportant. Don't care. So what do you expect it doesn't get any better.

many corrections have already been made. if there are any corrections you like with just add yours
there are several reasons why I cannot and do not want to continue where RA left off:
- mainly it is because with I can reuse the renders of RA
- Jenny's story is non-existent and there is no point in starting it when not the other housemates were far enough ahead.
- the story of Jenny at one version has turboed leaving the others far behind, so I will try to rebalance, trying to keep the story as faithful as possible to the original.
- also add a story for Mike's sister (who blackmailed liza)
- and then the characters of Ra are similar but very different
The story and progress in the original BBS were so minimal that it wouldn't take long for a new dev to get a new version of the game "caught up". In the original game, it took the aforementioned 3.5 years and 15 updates for Bobby to have sex. Most of those updates weren't all that big though, and there's a lot of content and bits of story that went nowhere that could be cut entirely on a remake, unless people just have their hearts set on repeating them. If it were me, I'd hit the highlights but avoid the grind or the events that made no sense or went nowhere. There's so many loose ends and abandoned story ideas in the original that it would be hard to continue it or attract new players to it I think.

The success of a game is not determined by the time taken to create it. It is determined by the number of people who downloaded the game and played it, and this game has a lot of them. By your logic, Cyberpunk was a successful game because so many people bought it, right?

The last update was form raince was in 2020!!! And you are here justifying game with 720p renders is quality "successful" game.
An obsession with graphic resolution just leads to bloated games that can be several GB in size, and has led to the any major game having people who will edit it and put out a compressed version. Maybe it's because I spent a lot of time playing text based porn games, but my standards for the graphics in these games seems more modest than others. I'd rather see more focus given to story and dialogue than 4k resolution pictures that took the dev an entire day to just render one of them.
I think the pictures in BBS were fine. They weren't always perfect, but honestly they and the general premise of the story kept me coming back more than the story or the actual game itself. All Rainces had to do was show us Lucy and label her as "sister" to hook me in that regard. Unfortunately, I didn't care too much about 90% of his follow-up from that start from a story or game perspective. But I never faulted the graphics.

And Bobby looks more like a silicone doll in this render

FINALLY a guy you can talk. Yes, the story of BBS is what people are interested in but, not all people. You have to have a good story and descent renders in order to be able to pull that off.
The game that took that much amount of time with that quality of renders is unacceptable to lot of people. You care about he story, I care about the story. You don't mind bad or as you said modest renders, I do mind bad renders. I gave the the reason for it too. So, we can agree to agree about some topics. And we can agree to disagree about other topics.
