trying to start the workers quest, i go to him and just keeps saying "you cant pass yet, we are building tents"

That's not the worker who gives the quest. Complete some of the other quests and eventually a worker with a gray beard will appear in front of the barrier and ask you to get his tools from his drunken son in town.
They've said on their patreon that the new update is coming in January. Today they gave a screenshot of Leyna at her new job

The game have a ordinal quests based go to previously pages and look for the walkthrough!

Instead of the update all 8+ or 10+ patreons got a comic on Christmas which is not related to the story. Also, it was mentioned by the author that the coming update will arrive before the end of January which means the next 1-2.5 weeks. Also there is a little teaser.The author promised an update for Christmas.
The comic itself is a nice addition. It is part one so there will be another part later.
I was sad too that the new update did not come out, but we got something else for those who donate.

Been waiting for next update ...intentionally skipped v0.3.5 so there be more stuff and can't wait till tomorrow
Saves will work though I had the police event happening and Johan was included though he was not even there. (I would not focus on such "bugs" except for if they mess with any progression. you can solve them later ^^ but keep them in mind.)
Otherwise, the update is quite short but still nice. If you do regular small updates /small increments like this then you will get better, I believe. But you slowed down in your development speed, didn't you?
