But did the Pirates movie have good acting? Would anyone watch it without the porn scenes? Because I don't find that the porn scenes are the motivation to playing BaDIK. Sure, we all joined for the porn, but many of us have stayed for the story/characters. I've said it before, if the porn scenes were toned down to an R rating, the game would be just as good and may even reach a wider audience. It might lose it's porn audience though...
Hey, I have that movie! And its sequel. But hold on, isn't the term Adult Visual Novel just a specific kind of porn game? The kind where you read text to get into the story, usually there are pictures, and you make periodic decisions to determine the outcome of the novel. They vary considerably, but that's the basic structure. I don't think the term has anything to do with any aspirations of quality or anything like that. It's just a specific kind of porn game.
Edit: It's like porn platformer, or porn puzzle game, or porn shooter. Adult visual novel is just a different category.

I just looked up that Pirates xxx on the IMDB, and compared its rating to the Pirates of the Caribbean series:

WTF?! Maybe it is good!

You keep asserting that any game with explicit sexual content is can only ever be "just" porn, but I see no evidence of that. At most it's a generalized observation based on the fact mainstream XXX movies turned out not to be very profitable and fell by the wayside. You might just as easily claim that any blockbuster can "only" be about special effects because the purpose of a blockbuster is empty spectacle. Spectacle is certainly important to blockbusters, but I don't think it's impossible for someone making a blockbuster to aim higher.
So to adult VNs. Whether any VN succeeds in that ambition is always down to the individual player, but I think it's possible to evaluate the non-porn merits of a game on their own terms. Personally, I think an R-rated cut of BaDIK would have been a worthwhile game had DPC chosen to pursue that route (though I doubt he would have been able to fund it).

I think there are plenty of AVNs that have aspired to be more than just sex scenes with the bare minimum story stringing them together. There are millions of mainstream novels with very explicit sex scenes that are not defined by their sex scenes, it's a shame that as soon as a VN has explicit sex scenes it gets lumped into a category designated for fap material...
I'm not a huge fan of AL, but to me the sex scenes were more jarring than people burning to death in a house. It felt more like a melodrama than a porno and then BAM, tiny girl on old man cock...
BaDIK walks the tightrope a little more evenly, the setting and characters lend themselves to the porn environment a lot more easily, and the melodrama is still there in spades.

I can't come to think of anything else, than a fresh download once again in chance somethig been bored with download servers when you tried redownloading.(Although, if something got messed up on downloading, you normally get errors when unpacking archives) unpack to as close to root of harddrive as possible.
And.. Restart from beginning of game.. If still remember the story, and choices, use the skip function from start,
to where you're at...
Can pretty much fly through in half an hour or so..
Hopefully that'll work?
I know it sucks.. But man.. you've been through some hassle, and time, trying to fix it already at this point.
So what's another 30min to an hour if you like the VN..

in my opinion Cathy has a very angular and mature face
in the HOTs you will find a bit of everything, it is as if they were a catalog of female types (red hair and freckles, Asian, punk, Latina, blonde bombshell ...)
another one I don't really like for her face is Heather, who I find masculine, but she has one of the best physiques.
but the sense was that they are all above the average beauty of reality, so choosing based on that doesn't make much sense to me

Wow, you dislike the best one just because she's ill and heartbroken?! That's in these moments where a girl needs you and when you show her how much you care/like/love her. If Sage don't do anything sexual with MC, it's because they are fuckbuddies and now she's single, that would mean something else and she needs time after Chads broke up with her.
But i understand why Quinn grows on us : she becomes closer and shows some feelings and trust for MC in this episode. We learn a lot about Quinn's life too.
