I'm having an issue where I cant select certain things. My mouse will highlight some options but not others. (like intro menu i can select gallery and menu but nothing else unless i use the keyboard.
even then I cant highlight continue option) Especially in freeroam mode. I can sometimes get the arrow keys on the keyboard to work, but its hit and miss and I usually end up having to try using both to get where i want. Especially when in the phone. Any ideas are appreciated. thank you. I cant respond to texts in the phone either. I'm using the mac version with the walkthrough mod and update installed.

I finally understand why conspiracy theories are a thing, people just make up stuff to fill in any blanks...

Bella's own thoughts say James is very much alive if you take it further with her in ep4:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
Seems pretty clear that James did something improper, and then left. The mystery is what/why, because Bella is still traumatised by whatever it was.
Because obviously the internal thoughts of a woman suffering from mental illness can certainly be taken as gospel truth. /s
Also, two things can be true at the same time. James could have done something improper to traumatise Bella and he can also be a figment of her deranged mind in that particular library scene. That doesn't necessarily mean he is dead, only that she could be imagining him present in that situation when he is not...as unhinged people are wont to do.

There was nothing in that flashback that suggests James wasn't present. The obvious interpretation is the librarian heard & saw James from the other side of the book stack, that's why she sent Bella home. The guy outside doesn't look confused, he's just looking in a vaguely nonplussed way at them because they're talking loudly given the exclamation marks.
I don't see much cause to send an employee home for the great offense of having her husband visit in public library. In an actual situation, you say...hey Isabella, you're at work. If you want to spend a few minutes with your husband then go on break outside for 15 minutes. Otherwise, stop it and get back to the books. Sending an employee home for the day is what you do when they are sick. In this case, mentally.

Also, the boss never actually interacts with James. You would think she would at least tell him off for trying to play kissy-face. At the very least she should turn to him and say, "you can leave the premises too sir" (if being overly affectionate with your just dismissed wife is such a crime in the library). James was misbehaving as much or more than Bella.

The confused (or vaguely nonplussed, same thing) man outside wouldn't normally mean that much, but with the other suspiciousness of this flashback, it definitely raises an eyebrow. DPC does like to drop hints and clues in his backgrounds. By clearing out the background of everyone but this man, he wants you to look at him. There are plenty of other outdoors arguments that characters have in this game and it is not often that DPC calls attention to someone as blatantly as this. The man is literally center screen. You don't do that just to show that two primary characters are arguing loudly.

Baseless theory time.

No way Burke just outright solves Maya's problem for her in the next episode. It's too early in the game for her to have this issue solved, this plot element has only worn out it's welcome twice over and I predict at least 8 fold being required before it dies. Similarly, his rejecting her can't just be a dead end plot wise... No way this season opens with him saying no and everyone just shrugging their shoulders and moving on.

So when he says "no" it has to go somewhere and saying no could raise questions from Jade. My theory is Stephen is currently using the scholarships from local businesses to pay for the restaurant girls. They, as part of the deal, have to sleep with the people funding the scholarships outlined in the newspaper article. When Maya comes to the Burkes Jade would be aware of the scholarships but not the "extras" the girls have to provide and suggest it could fund Maya. Burke cant reveal what the girls have to do in exchange so he has to reject the idea, making Jade suspicious.

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

By making the system Stephen is using to pay for the girls a legitimate route to tuition payments it could tie Maya into the overarching Burke/Quinn plotline and this can kick off it's potential exposure. At the moment she's a bit of a loose thread. She can't just be written out for everyone not on her route and DPC can't sustain endless storylines. It would clean up the story to just shunt Maya's tuition storyline (and by proxy Josy who is nothing but a tag along) over to the stronger, universally available, Burke/Quinn story arc. If it's established that getting to the bottom of that situation resolves her problem and fold the tuition bullshit into the Burke/Quinn arc and make the Maya/Josy romance route about (and bear with me, this will sound crazy) actually fucking romancing Maya and Josy! Only slight stumbling block would be whether Jade could source a legitimate scholarship for Maya but it isn't insane that some of the donations are legitimate, it cant all be guys buying sex.

This is just a theory but it seems win/win. Maya finally get's the spotlight taken off her and maybe can do more character development rather than carrying the anchor that is "I need tuition"... This would also make Quinn/Maya directly oppose one another. They've been openly hostile since day one but they currently have nothing over one another. If Maya needs Quinn exposed to get tuition it means if the MC supports her it would ruin Quinn (and potentially removes the tuition of Riona, Camilla and Sarah/Mel). Conversely on the Quinn route, you could have to cover for her and by proxy fuck Maya over. This adds weight to the consequences and logically makes their routes oppose one another (unlike Bella being locked out for fucking Cathy or Jade being locked out for being with Maya/Josy that is just arbitrary).

Every route benefits from this, the writing is easier and choices we made thus far have fuck all influence on it working so it works as a serviceable "common route" alongside whatever is going on with the MC's maternal family. Certainly better than Maya continuing to rotate her entire fucking character around needing tuition.

Why would he look like a bitch.

I could easily see Burke taking the money from MC Inheritance. Wallace Resources.
For some reason my brain just went to Marcellus Wallace.
Theory: If you are on the "MC Fucks Jade" path, then Stephen Burke will use the video evidence of the affair to blackmail Isabella into sleeping with him, in exchange for not expelling MC.
There are two main flaws with this. The first, as others have mentioned, is that Bella likely wouldn't give a shit. She dumps MC for getting a blowie in her car with Cathy. Video evidence of him banging Jade? Absolute deal breaker.

The second is the erroneous assumption that Burke would have the video at all. My MC is smart enough to not tell Derek a damn thing, and that video never surfaces.

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

I was hoping that interlude would be over and done with by now. I'm pretty disappointed DCP decided to make it. Firstly we already have great characters that aren't getting much screen time like Lily and especially Riona and now with Zoey back she will be taking even more time away from the great secondary characters. She will probably become a main character because why would you bother bringing her back and making a whole mini-episode about her to just have her as a side character. If there was going to be a new main LI and a new branch I would prefer a character we have been getting to know for the past 3 years or an option to break up Josy and Maya so people that don't like the three-way relationship and/or dislike one of them can just have a solo route with Josy or Maya.

Secondly we already have to wait 8 months for new episodes and the interlude thing is taking time away from the main story. Also introducing a new LI will either massively reduce screen time of the main LI and secondary characters or will add even more months of work. Just having a new branch will add a lot of work. It's already been 3 years since episode 1 and DCP said it is about halfway through and each episode takes more time than the last it will be another 4 or 5 years until the end.

With those 2 disappointments and I was also a bit disappointed with episode 8 I may drop this game and wait for the end. I didn't like how the MC choose Josy and Maya even if I didn't really do anything with Maya the whole time. I really dislike the three-way relationship but I do have a save with it for Josy only. I was really hoping in that ending that the MC would mention that he was really only interested in Josy and that would be a little hope they would break up and I could just be with Josy but it looks like I am stuck with Maya for a while. Right now to me it looks like it won't be until the end of the game that there will be an option to be with one of them if there is ever an option.

As for Bella and Jill... could it be that Bella's husband went away in the military and while he was on duty Bella got lonely and had an affair with Jill. While having that affair, her husband ends up dying and Bella feels guilty for her affair with Jill now, on top of missing her husband? It could be why she is reluctant to have a relationship due to these multiple factors etc... <shrug>
Jill is adamant that she's a virgin.

I think DPC just wanted to say the game was going to touch on some issues that some people may react to.

The game does do that:
  • Mental illness (Bella)
  • Coerced prostitution (Mona and Cammy)
  • Bullying (from Chad and the jocks, mc’s flashback)
  • Homophobia (casual stuff from many characters but a strong sense from Patrick’s storyline)
  • Untimely death (mc’s mom, Jill’s sister)
  • Poverty (Neil & mc)
  • Injustice (mc getting detention for defending himself)
  • Anal sex
I mean the above stuff is all pretty tame, but could bring up painful memories or cause distress to some people.

Personally I think the opening warning is more detrimental than good. The game just needs a rating like any other media:

“Contains pornographic scenes, strong course language and mature themes”

That’d cover everything, no need to talk about being in a bad time in your life and all that shit. Plus, Jill voice acting… we didn’t need that either.
I forgot all about the warning before I bought the new chapter on Steam and deleted persistent data.

I don't even know what bad time in your life means, I think I might be too old for trigger warnings.

the "sixth sense" theory is just funny, but it would be more harmful than helpful (a theory should solve a problem not create more)

Bella's thoughts about her husband are so strange that everyone can believe what they want to believe. in the sixth chapter when she tells MC that now something has changed, what is she referring to? when in the eighth in the bathroom she relaxes thinking that now her husband is gone

isa "This is ok... I am allowed to enjoy this."
isa "*{i}Sigh{/i}* You aren't here anymore."

it is not the thought of someone who expects to see her husband again. everything is possible

however the flashback remains extremely cold and antiseptic, not even when they are outside the library Bella lets herself go, now with MC in the library in front of everyone Bella is much more relaxed.

simply the LIs are just MC's property and woe to those who think otherwise (Bella doesn't even kiss her husband in the wedding picture..)

I see dead people... the flashback was weird because it's completely castrated in every edge. it's so cold and aseptic that it basically looks like Bella can't stand her husband...

if Bella had a happy ending anyway who cares if we have to give her a little lithium before we go to sleep.

while if in the end she doesn't have a happy ending it would be useless to add this weirdness to an already complicated story
It's a headscratching flashback for sure, in the context of that it doesn't shine light into anything at all. What we learn from it basically is: what James looks like and some insight on his character, Bella's old workplace and their interactions, while it is equally strange that everyone else besides Bella is ignoring James (or they don't see him at all, which was the point of the debate).

Yes, I've always assumed that interpretation is canon. It was pretty obvious that Bella was talking to thin air and the boss thinks that she has an employee who is slipping into madness. The boss doesn't actually see James during the confrontation and the man sitting outside the library looks on in a confused manner because he can see that Bella is talking to herself. All of that also coincides with future MC's internal monologue about Bella crying in the library.
If we are judging by the flashback, then we safely assume that Bella's tragedy and the locked door really have something to do with James or something that happened to him (including that library monologue). While he did something in the past which Bella already forgave him for or he might have died before she forgave him, which lead to Bella's mental breakdown and it is something that she feels incredibly guilty about. The problem though, is that we are at the halfway point of the story and we really don't know that much about her past. So we are forced to pick at the little details and have to connect the dots.

I finally understand why conspiracy theories are a thing, people just make up stuff to fill in any blanks...

While everything you said is an acceptable argument, don't you find it strange how everyone ignores James? Like no one besides Bella in that flashback acknowledges his existence. Bella's boss doesn't even greet him, warn him for his inproper behavior or straight out tell him to leave, if he really was there she could've told Bella to take her break or something instead of sending her home.

The background guy is a nice detail. DPC is using a technique similar to the Deep Focus, where something in the background is sharply in focus. And knowing he's crazy about small details, I don't think he just placed him there for no reason. Like he placed Chad's sneakers in Troy's room long before the reveal as a hint and some people around here picked up on it. So I'm going to say that the guy is really confused as to why Bella is talking to thin air.
