but I believe that a large part of the ramifications of the new chapter stem from the 'forced' branching of Crossroad, where each choice will lead to a differently experienced chapter

if you add to that Zoey's possible Chick/Dik fork there are already all the branching you want
I am going to have too many saves because of the branching

Does anyone have a personal preference for the DIK brothers? Who do you respect and who would you like to expel from the mansion. Maybe one of them causes a burning hatred?
About myself, I can say that it was difficult for me to find among the brothers a character that I hate, I always try to look at people from different angles. So I was able to make a list from the least respected to the most. And I'll try to guess their affinity on the example of their behavior.

8. Nick. Nick the Dick. (Affinity: probably neutral) I already wrote that I suspect this guy is a spy and I think I'm not alone. Something is wrong with him. Vinnie's former best friend is very quiet and often finds himself in the wrong places and situations. Situation where the laptop was found after Cathy's leak. His room was not touched by the alphas. Nothing new, a popular theory about Nick's betrayal. But I had it before I started reading the forums, just a premonition. Also, this is already the level of conspiracy dalli_x, but Nick looks like one of the jocks. Brothers?

7. Leon. (Affinity: neutral).
Very little can be written about this guy. He is rather lazy and unassembled, during the repair of the mansion he does nothing on his own in his room. Even cleaning. MC notices this. Little is known about his interests either, if someone went through the game more carefully and has something to tell about Leon, then please.

6. Tommy. (Affinity: VERY massive DIK)
I think the most controversial character in the frat. He is rude, blunt, acting like an asshole to MC when he was a maggot and didn't do his father's duties well. When a serious challenge comes, Tommy throws a tantrum, gives up and withdraws into himself. Hiding in his basement. Tommy wants to have fun, but when responsibility comes, at first he hides his head in the sand like an ostrich. But at the same time, in the Ep6, Tommy apologizes to the MC and tries to fix the situation - he starts working and invites the MC to relax in a bar. I decided to give him a second chance, but first kicking his ass. Tommy's relationship with Tremolo is another complication. My canonical MC is a DIK, so Tommy respects him, but at the same time I think he is distrustful and feels threatened. He fought for power with Vinnie for a long time, for the post of vice president, and finally got it. And then this newcomer comes in and he's doing well. He makes speeches about responsibility and independence, DIKs listen to him. MC does an excellent job with management and takes over the repair management. DIKs respect Tremolo and even Sage knows and says that he is the leader. MC easily climbs into Quinn's panties, which Tommy most likely did not succeed. I think Tommy has some kind of jealousy and fear that he will lose power. In Episode 8, he seems to react well to the news that Tremolo will be planning a Halloween party, and show respect to the MC during the dorm party, but what's on his mind? Do you think a power struggle between Tommy and Tremolo is possible?

5. Jamie (Affinity: CHICK)
Jamie is the most "cute" guy out of this whole crazy and wild party, so to speak. How did he get there? Very intelligent, educated and doesn't like conflicts. Jamie has an unusual hobby for a guy - he is a gardener and a botanist. He even uses a secret DIK code to keep from being laughed at. Jamie has a serious problem: Dani. His biggest problem. Jamie is a soft-spoken person and is often insecure about his actions, don't have enough balls. Dani uses it. A feminist bitch can ruin this guy's life, prevent him from coming out of the shell that constrains him and putting him in a cage, making Jamie henpecked. Told him to send Dani the fuck out with Franz. Rabbit meat is actually very tasty, hehe.:devilish:
FRANZ.jpg

4. Jacob (Affinity: CHICK)
Another calm and not loving conflict person. Still, he's tough enough to climb into a hornet's nest infested with alphas. Jacob is a talented artist and without him the DIK mansion would not be such a beautiful place. And who else can decorate it with paintings of half-naked women or Derek on a moose?
Jacob is very loyal and noble - he uses a DIK secret code that can be used once! He's not using for himself, for his new brother. So that others don't mock him as a gerontophile.

3. John Boy (Affinity: Neutral)
Damn, this guy is just the life of the party. He is a nugget in this gang. An absolute extrovert without complexes, sociable, even a little kinky. This dude shines with positivity. It's good to have a friend like John Boy. But the first thing I would do if I was in the DIKs mansion - I would like to try his food. Yes, he is a local chef. And it all looks pretty tasty. I wish he would bake Franz in the oven and finally break Jamie and Dani's bond with it.:ROFLMAO:
Separately, you can add about his relationship with Elena. As for me, this is an ideal couple - open, absolutely not jealous people who trust each other. No relationship toxicity. The opposite of Tommy + Heather.

2. Rusty (Affinity: neutral, maybe a little DIK)
Whatever others say, I consider him a good president and a pleasant personality. Yes, this is a rich and spoiled boy who loves to show off. As soon as he arrives college, he begins to use his position to impress the girls and demands the preps presidency. But Rusty is not like Tybalt, he doesn't label people because of their low birth and not condemn the poor.
Rusty is different: the kind of fun guy who wants to have good college memories, no matter how rich the people next to him are. The main thing is that they are good and true friends. Rusty likes to play by his own rules and has no one to go under. It seems that this is the essence of Burgmeister's: noise, the importance of showing themself, leadership and ... thoughtless burning of money. Burgmeister's love to hang out. It seems that this is really their difference from the "closed" Royce royal family. Rusty's problem is a lack of accountability. He was living in a bubble on his dad's money and looked distraught when the disaster struck. He realized that he needed to start living on his own and got scared. True, he realized this and even came up with a backup plan in case the MC did not succeed.

1. Derek (Affinity: DIK)
This post on Reddit would have been a real nightmare. A lot of people out there hate Derek as a "misogynistic" and "asshole". Well, fuck Reddit. Derek is a real walking chaos and anarchist. At first glance, he doesn't care at all. Derek's interests are parties, sex, get drunk, and a wildly lived youth. To have a crazy story that you can remember. And he's not a loser. Derek can win Hell Week if left unchecked and even jump on Grandma's grenade for his maggot brother. He has titanium balls. I don't think there's a crazy task this guy can't do. Sociable, positive, crazy and wild, frivolous the best Bro ever. He reminds me a lot of Stifler from American Pie.
Because of his frivolity and long tongue, he gets into stories with girls and then another side of Derek opens up to us. He is sensitive deep down and can be serious. For example, this side opens when he shares his thoughts with the MC about Ashley and admits that he screwed up. How he takes care of his sister and protects Maya from his crazy father is sweet and touching. Derek is a true friend: he supports the MC when he is ready to give up and at least twice helps with housing. So it's a good thing to pay him back and let him hang out in your room. The brothers cover each other.
And Derek is smart (although it doesn’t seem so at first glance) and cunning. I think he's a sigma personality type. The dumb one couldn't come up with those test answer tricks, couldn't sneak into the preps mansion and blend in with the crowd. A true social chameleon. Derek started out as a character to advance the plot (who is this clown without clothes?), ended up as the best bro ever.

It depends if you are a repeater and the school is the school and the university is the university, that is what the SAT is for and many people lose a month preparing for those exams because I don't know that you are a repeater
And it usually starts in August and ends in May, in short, seven months and some other universities are up to eight months ,But not all universities are the same ...There are those who measure studies in semesters, other quarterly periods and others in trimesters.
Not to mention that there are people who start their studies in July with the summer session.
If the game is based in Pennsylvania the start day is July 2nd for the summer session. But normally it starts on the tenth of August. :cautious::devilish:
1. People don't "lose a month" for the SATs. From what I remember, we just took them at some point during the Fall (August - November). Students will usually be preparing for that before their last year of high school (Grade 12), some even start preparing when they first start high school (Grade 9) or even before then.
2. There are no trimesters in US schools to my knowledge. We have the fall semester (August - December) then Spring (January - May). While in university, you can take courses during the winter and summer breaks (which are confusingly called winter and summer semesters/quarters/sessions) However, no school I've ever applied to has ever offered starting during those times and will only allow you to start during the Fall or transfer in the Spring semester.
--However, Winter sessions and Summer sessions don't have the same time span as Fall and Spring. Winter is usually like a month because that's usually how long the winter break lasts and Summer is usually from June to August for the same reasons. They're not really full semesters/quarters or whatever, they're just kind of squeezed in between Fall and Spring during the breaks.
3. People usually start their time at universities in the Fall semester. That's what being depicted in the game as there's a crowd of new students at the orientation.
4. Quarters are however offered in US universities as well. I'm not too familiar with them but I know they usually start the Fall quarter around September.
5. I'm not sure what you mean by "repeater" but for US schools, if you failed your last year of high school then you'd have to repeat the whole year ... so you'd still start university the same as everyone else. Fall semester. If a "repeater" is someone that didn't get accepted to any university of their choosing then they'd still most likely either take some classes at community college and transfer into the Spring semester or wait a year and transfer into the Fall semester.

So I'm not really sure if you might just be mixing some things up or looking things up to fill in the gaps but I'm still kind of not sure about what you're trying to say. I have to stress I swear, I'm not trying to be condescending. I can't stress that enough. I'm trying to explain things properly because I have a feeling this confusion might just be a simple cultural difference. It's just that any text-based communication is going to make things lose any nuance.

Now even if we follow what you said about starting in July, it still doesn't add up with what you said.

  • It's been acknowledged multiple times that (in-game) we haven't even had Halloween yet. The hype around ep 9 is partly due to the Halloween-themed stuff we'll see.
  • I actually got confused when you said "almost a year" but I'm going to put that aside because even your shortest estimate of 6 months still doesn't seem to add up.
  • You said, it'd been 6 months since MC talked to Bella about Zoey. Let's say they had that conversation at the beginning of July, then 6 months would push us way past Halloween and into January.
  • Even if you meant, since Zoey left for San Diego rather than MC talking to Bella about Zoey that still doesn't add up because high schools usually end for summer vacation either in May or June but usually in June. 6 months from May puts us at November. Also ... I think MC is supposed to be a year younger than Zoey so it would've been over a year anyway since she had left because he had to finish high school first.
  • So even if we did start in July, what the other guy said "2 to 2.5 months" still makes more sense than 6 months because 2 months from July puts you in September which is still before October.
As for my own thoughts on the timeline and setting:
  • I'm guessing it's somewhere in the Northeast since that's usually where all the small, private schools are concentrated. Usually. Also the "blue-blood" theme the Preps give off make me think of that stereotype of rich WASPs vacationing at Martha's Vineyard. Then again ... Zoey took a train to San Diego so it could also be set somewhere on the west coast but idk.
  • Edit: I don't agree with your guess that it's in Pennsylvania. They definitely have small schools spread out but they're not ... where you'd send your upper-middle to upper class children if you could just get them into Penn State or even U Penn, but one's a large public school and the other is an Ivy.
  • Some scenes give us some clues about where they are and what month it could be. Josy gets cold on their first date and needs a sweater (before he started at university). Even in Pennsylvania, you're not going to be THAT cold right in the middle of summer. It's most likely going to be August or coming up on September because it's still warm but the nights and mornings start getting cooler. (As a side note: parts of Pennsylvania do get cold quicker but again, those aren't where the rich kids are going and the towns are small and podunk).
  • That's why I'm thinking that the university MC is at (B&R) runs on a quarterly system because their exams come up faster than universities with semesters and have courses that end before December (Jade's Gender Studies class). (Which could also make a case for it being on the west coast since universities there typically have quarterly systems).
  • I think it's only been about 1.5 to 2 months depending on when he started exactly which puts us in the middle of October or at least very close to the end of it if he started anywhere between the end of August and September. I know that sounds really fast but that's also why I think it's a university with a quarterly system because my first thought about when I heard students at those universities had already taken their final exams for some courses and it was like the middle of October was "Wow, that's fast."
AGAIN, not trying to make you look bad or whatever weird thing people are quick to get angry about online. I'm just trying to explain this with the most detail as possible to not leave any room for any misunderstandings.

I legitimately love the game. But it has a somewhat realistic depiction of relationships as far as porn games go in that you can't just automatically get a harem and all.

So having to do the breakup talk with all the gals at the end of season 2 kinda sucks.

And if you don't wanna do that, you have to follow a friendly pattern with all of them, which makes little sense because you're just locked to the extras and your chosen heroine then, and the game doesn't have enough content that way to be interesting throughout the story.

Just trade-offs I suppose. Most certainly one of the best stories in a porn game, enough that it made me care enough about its characters for me to feel sad about having to choose.

But not so good that I can be arsed to replay completely different paths for different girls from now onward. Plus the breakup talks are tough lol.

I do get that hollowness in the heart feeling after finishing season 2. Kinda like finishing a massive tv show and being left empty afterwards. I won' t be playing anymore though...because I really wanna see all the other girl paths but it's just such a hassle.

I strongly disagree. I did a Maya/Josy path only while I was just friends with the other main LIs and still had a lot of sexual content both with Maya/Josy and with the sidegirls (excluding the teachers who are blocked if we choose Josy and Maya).

Jacob is a top tier bro you can ever ask for.

You forgot that he also tells everyone about fucking Quinn on the roof so MC can get more points, trying to protect MC from stupid public fucking with Sage and backing up MC with money in Pink Rose. Also he is the one who takes elders job if MC decline.

Overall this dude acts even too mature for 20 yo or something. I was more like Derek in my 20 :KEK:

Second, the state is not just two cities and bumfuck nowhere, that would be western Nebraska and Kansas, Eastern Colorado, etc. Sorry if that's all I got out of your post.
Nah the guy I was replying to said it was in Pennsylvania. My bad, I should've specified that.
Also, meh it's not but I tried to explain it in a way that would convey that there wouldn't just be a bunch of small, private colleges in some concentrated area in Pennsylvania. I'll edit it.
Also, don't worry about reading all that. I just wanted to break down everything piece-by-piece to make sure he's not misunderstanding anything.

I mean it's possible. You do get weird concentrations of private colleges in the US, especially in New England. One example not in that region is Minneapolis-St.Paul, MN.

Hmm. I dunno. Usually people would just go to Penn State or their satelite campuses. Plus I can't imagine a lot of old money there with like kids of the founders still going there out of tradition.Edit: not kids but great, great, great whatever.
Also, it makes sense for major cities to have a lot of private colleges because that's where the most people gather in large states. I feel like that was the point I was trying to make with the "buttfucknothing" thing.
You do get small, private schools in random places but again, it's not "elitist" just expensive lol.

Oh I wish I could go back a few years to my college days and do crazy things like Derek.
Unfortunately, we don't have fraternities like in the USA and hot girls could be counted on the fingers of one hand. :HideThePain:

I'm going to take a wild guess and say you're from Pennsylvania. There is "old money" all over the USA, but you are right in that it is concentrated in the NE. However, it really could be just about anywhere that has the corresponding climate and concentration of private colleges (really lore-wise it's two), not really as limiting as you might think.

Hey bro, where is your sig? I can't see it
if you need the unofficial patch
Unofficial patch to update Being a DIK from v0.7.0 to v0.8.2.

This patch will upgrade your game from v0.7.x/v0.8.x to v0.8.2.

It only contains files altered in v0.7.1/v0.7.2/v0.8.0/v0.8.1/v0.8.2 (see Files_Updated.txt).

Note: The official v0.8.2 Update Patch won't work with the unofficial patch, due to how Ren'Py handles alphabetical filename precedence. So if you patched to 0.8.0 or 0.8.1 using a previous version of the unofficial patch, then use the following to update to v0.8.2:

Unofficial v0.8.0 to v0.8.2 Update Patch (53.9 MB): Mega -

Meow!
Riona is wearing the winning cosmetic option from the previous poll.

Enjoy and have a nice week!
Well, at least the colors are a good match. But to be fair, there were no winners in that poll. You'd think with a year to prepare Riona could have found a slightly more detailed costume. :(

It seems that the DPC has decided to troll Quinn fans to the last. Probably her preview will be the last and will be released in October, right before Episode 9. In general, who else was left without a preview and who can be shown? Sarah, Melanie, Camilla, Quinn, possibly Elena. Maybe another preview of Bella.
I suppose it's possible that Quinn doesn't have much screentime outside of the party, in which case it might be hard to find a non-spoiler preview for her. It seems unlikely (Quinn has too many irons in the fire to keep offstage for long), but it's possible.

Anyways, I was just trying to explain my assumptions on the setting. The original post to the other guy was about the timeline and I used the setting to try and make sense of things. You're right, it could essentially be anywhere that fit the criteria. We good? Just don't want to distract from the main point about the timeline.
