Idk about that. Personally, I found ep9 to be one of the weakest. And Interlude was meh as well for me (not because of length).Putting aside that I believe one of his updates WAS released quicker than the one before it in the past, I think this kind of ignores the fact that DPC is making each episode both larger and BETTER than every one that came before it, all while making your divergent gameplay pay off in reasonable satisfying ways.
No one is saying he shouldn't try to improve. People are just annoyed with updates getting longer and longer. For me personally, I think up to 9 months is still good, more than that becomes a bit silly and I tend to lose interest in the game and forget a lot of it and have to replay before playing new update. Luckily, this game has good replayability, but I already played it many times and don't want to replay from the start every year+ especially all the possible paths. So, improving and pushing boundaries doesn't mean making updates bigger. Personally, I don't feel like episodes that took a year to finish are 3x better than early ones that took like 2-3 months. Yes, technically they are bigger and more complex, but I didn't necessarily enjoyed them 3x more.Further I don't know why people here get so upset that DPC is trying to IMPROVE his craftmanship. It's one thing to say he's milking (I disagree, but there's some room for differing opinions). It's something else to get upset at the artist for wanting to deliver the highest quality product. Honestly, it makes the complainers seem more like junkies itching for their next fix than consumers wanting to enjoy the product.
This is how real artists actually work, they experiment and push the boundaries of their craft.
I personally think the scope of this game is too huge for one developer. And that's the view I share with quite a few other games. Some games have way too many girls to chase. It's nice to have variety, but when you go to double digits, it's just too much. If you have quality girls in game, you don't need 10+ of them. I much prefer few of them and more time spending with each.
This has nothing to do with how long it is. The episode just wasn't that interesting to some and I can imagine why. For me, I feel there was barely any story progress, main girl (the path you choose in ep8) didn't really get the scenes I was hoping for (I hoped we would get to share the news among dik brothers and possibly to others and see their reactions; only Jill got to tell her friends), and idk, just one big party wasn't that interesting to me. But, ofc, that doesn't mean episode is bad, it's still good and I love the party mini game. Moreover, I remember when Ep 9 had JUST released and people were already complaining that DPC had lost his touch or that it wasn't as good, or that it was one long free roam, etc etc. Look, I get it, DPC seems like he's not a fun guy to work with, and there are plenty of valid criticisms to make about the guy, but he really can't win here. He either A. releases faster, smaller, shittier updates and people like you complain about the quality and lack of care put into the work or B. releases larger, better updates (that obviously take more time to create) and people like you complain that he's taking too long. The truth is people want faster and faster content AND high quality updates and yet, I feel like they'd still complain.
Not sure if that is quite true, but anyway... There are also no other developers with this kind of money support, not even close. And all that money is for DPC alone, he doesn't have to pay anyone, since he wants to solo this (which I don't have problem with).Look around at this entire website. There are NO OTHER DEVELOPERS who are producing content at this pace. He is literally the fastest working Dev in the industry. Everyone else is releasing either at a slower pace, or with less content, or both. Meanwhile, you'll most likely get at minimum 1-2 hours of gameplay in Ep 10, even if you rush and have onely one walkthrough.
