The crux of the matter is that this has made Zoey realize that the MC has moved on and will no longer return to Zoey. Zoey herself told Jacob that she won't get together with a friend of the MC because she doesn't want to do that to him. But that doesn't mean she won't get into a relationship with another guy who isn't a friend of the MC.
What did Zoey say to the MC in EP9? She doesn't want to lose the MC's friendship again. That's why Zoey won't date one of the MC's friends. That's why Jonah exists. Zoey will still come to the DIKs party and maybe take a course at college. But to fend off the advances of MC's DIK friends, she will present the gay Jonah, who flies under the gay radar, as her boyfriend. It's implied in EP10 for Zoey to invite Jonah.
Josy leads on the MC for 1 day (from the moment they set up the date up to their first kiss), then she reveals that she is in a relationship. It sucks, but is much better than Maya.
Maya leads MC for several days, has many more flirting and "sexy moments", and does a lot more than just 1 kiss before she considers telling MC. So Maya's deception is much worse.

Maya finally explained. If men think a girl has a boyfriend, they are less likely to be approached. Jonah looks pretty fierce and that will keep a lot of people away.

MC may avoid relationships with all of them if you want so, but not their friendship. What's the sense to complain and whining here and there how you wish something was different. Don't play or deal with it.
For the same reason, no book or movie or TV series will be perfect. There will always be moments that someone will not like, the main thing is that there are not too many of them or the whole product doesn't consist of "disappointments" for a certain consumer.

Take a breath, guys. Orange guy (Jonah) is not coming anywhere. This character is just a background decoration to fill out the environment in the Interlude. As one of the thousands of faceless NPCs who give you a quest, go to that location and bring me that thing. His job was to create drama for that Emma cunt and that’s it. Sometimes he will appear in the comments under Zoey's clucks and that's all. Zoey will definitely not date anyone until her relationship with MC is finalized. This is not a game where she will fuck someone to get MC's attention.

DPC's laziness makes me think we'll see the 3 San Diego losers again, hard that once the model is created, DPC will leave it to mold. e.g. Emma either hates zoey, or she's her best/only friend, sooner or later she's bound to come back into the picture
the how depends a bit on what plans he has for Zoey, and the escapes put off character development.
in the next chapter I think a return of MC to his home country is likely, and that would be the perfect scenario, without the pressure from the LIs or SGs, for Zoey to finally tell him why she came back.
but she could also continue to not answer her phone for the entire third season and give DPC time to set up another big plot twist
