So this was interesting: I just got back from couples therapy. (No, ReallyNotTina and I aren’t having problems; we’re being preemptive. Catch those red flags before they turn into real problems!) Our psychologist wanted to talk about our sexy-time recreation, and since we do Being a DIK together, that came up.

Confused the doctor for a minute, because she thought “playing Being a DIK” meant we were roleplaying, and in this roleplay I was being a dick towards my woman, and she wanted to know just how I was being a dick. No no no, I said; it’s a video game—well, adult visual novel. ReallyNotTina got on her phone, found DrPinkCake’s Patreon page, and showed her. I absolutely love ReallyNotTina’s description: “It’s the erotic adventures of a frat boy who’s either looking for love, or looking to plow.” Short n sweet.

Turns out our doctor actually heard of DPC’s previous AVN, Acting Lessons. There’s a sequence in that game with a therapist, which apparently worked its way to one of our therapist’s colleagues and impressed him. (ReallyNotTina’s guess is the colleague was probably tugging his cock to the game himself.) Anyway the psychologists were wondering whether DPC had personally undergone some traumatic experience, and that’s how all the therapy lingo got into the game; or whether he himself is a therapist. Y’all know he’s implied more than once that there’s something substantive to the Dr. in his nom de porn.

It made me think of that trick Jill pulled at the beginning of her date with the MC—“I think that we should have our date now and you leave all those feelings you feel at the moment in this spot. When we’re done, you can come back here and get them if you feel that you need them.” That’s such a therapist thing to say. (Technique actually works though.)

DPC may not be the best writer in the genre, but he is an excellent psychologist. His strong point is the development of characters and, in general, characters are the hallmark of this game. DPC also works amazingly with the emotions of players. I have heard many stories of scenes that made people cry and empathize with the characters; he is good at working in the area of "gray morality".
there are real suspicions that this is a lived experience, or maybe he has a degree in psychology. It’s a coincidence that you guys came across a psychotherapist who is familiar with his game; this is probably a one in a million chance. World is full of miracles.

Well if there is one talent of DPC that has not waned over time it is his ability to choose the right song for every situation. :HideThePain:

lately he is more of a so-so. both in episode 9 and 10 had moment where one song may be good but then the other one during the scene was not so much. and his new official Theme music is horrible, at least we can change it(y)

Can you have examples what songs are bad/not fits for the scene ( except for main theme. It's more metal, don't fits more usual for college vibes punk-rock).
Ofc it's subjectively, everyone have their tastes in music.
to be fair, that statement has more truth to it , than yours.
How ungrateful. This "LMMF" created your queen, your joy, and your girl Josy for you. And here you are...

. ep 9, during the cum-petition, the first one start good, and then the second is less good.
ep 10, you know When Josy Rapes You, the starting song Insomniac, is really good, but then the song during the actual " Rape scene " is really well, nothing.
You have the bench scene with Rio, where he use the Same " more than Friends " song for rio, despite he used for Josy and Maya threesome, it didn't make sense to use the same emotional song for Rio.
, their connection totally different that song simply not fit to that scenario and then the second song is immediately some party song anyway.

look he has some good moments, 4-5 times, with 10 episode and over 5 years development, but to call him "an excellent psychologist" just because he was able to pick fitting song for a couple of scenes to increas the " emotional level " of the scene, is a bit of Reach dont you think?

i don't know. it seems to me much, much, easier to be a good writer than an excellent psychologist.

to arouse great emotions does not require who knows what psychological skill, there are great universal themes to which it is difficult to remain indifferent. there are "mediocre" movies or books that nevertheless excite easily. and in BADIK some of the scenes that should have been the strongest from that point of view are also the most criticized, much more often DPC has been successful with minor scenes that have succeeded very well.

then on the development of the characters, I don't think it's such an objective success

Bella just can't avoid cheating on her best friend. No matter how hard MC tries to pick up all the negatives possible from everyone except Bella and ultimately choose her path, Jill will see her best friend and MC having sex. What makes this situation paradoxical is that I really had to work hard to have an option for Jill's path at the end. Generally, Jill's path is the least certain of all possible scenarios at the end of 2nd season.

Jill's annoyed with Bella for trying to set her up with a guy that Bella ended up fucking herself, however she's only really upset if you were on her path. If not on her path then she sees it and gets a bit annoyed but gets over it quickly.

He can put, whatever emotional song under a scene, it wont matter if the scene itself is a mess. the library scene between MC Josy and Maya forever gonna be among one of the worst clusterfuck of the serie and no matter what kind of song play during it

I was only talking about the emotional aspect. On the subject of the soundtrack, badik probably remains one of the best, but apart from being a largely marginal aspect (so many play without sound) it has struck me less lately
