Why would Helen's death result in Patrick going to jail. Most likely he will read her will and introspect himself and this is how Tuition money story arc ends. Neither of the twins want their father to be jailed.
not as a direct consequence, but as an opportunity.

as long as Helen is alive, Patrick cannot go to jail, otherwise it would be up to Derek and Maya to take care of her.

But if Helen were to die, the confrontation between Maya and Patrick could become even harder

Man you really think he is a cartoonish evil caricature figure don't you? Derek said he is a broken man but they still care for him. No way he will do something horrible to be jailed nor the twins want it.

not quite so... Patrick has every reason to make peace with his daughter and stop tyrannizing over her life, especially if as it seems from l flashback this religious fixation is not even his directly but a reflection of Helen.

if there is no such assumption there is no point in seeking a reconciliation, if Patrick cannot be a father to Maya unless hard defeated there is no value in recovering him
My point is that while Patrick might want to make peace with Maya, currently he's still convinced he's in the right and has time on his hands for her to come around. Any number of things could cause that to change, and one of them is Maya freeing herself from his manipulation.

Let's not forget that it's not just what effectively is financial blackmail, but also physical abuse that he has to atone for. Maya would be 100% in her right to cut him out from her life. Frankly, if he really wants to reconcile with her, it needs to be done when she's no longer under his control in any way. Otherwise, there's always an element of possible coercion in her "accepting" his apology.

if she breaks free from blackmail, why should Maya accept Patrick's apology?

apologies have value if they are a choice, not if you have no other option. Patrick must accept his daughter's will, not give in to the fact that he no longer has a means of controlling her

Precisely. If Maya only accepts his apology because the blackmail is there than it's not real. Maya shouldn't have a reason to forgive him other than she believes he's genuinely remorseful, he's making concrete efforts to be better, and most importantly because she wants to.

If you want real forgiveness and reconciliation, it needs to come from a place where Maya is free to forgive him or not without external pressures. So long as the blackmail is in place, she's not free. Either she needs to break free, or Patrick needs to relent and free her himself before seeking forgiveness.

your perspective seems to me upside down.

if her father has not even freedom from blackmail to offer her why should Maya accept his apology?

Patrick is the one in the wrong, he must have something to offer to have forgiveness if he was defeated and without any power. as reparation for what he put her through
it is not Maya who accepts the apology to be free of blackmail, but her father who frees her from his blackmail to be deserving of forgiveness

Forgiveness and reconciliation isn't an exchange of goods. Again, if Patrick's offer of reconciliation is limited to "I stopped doing something really shitty to you, we good?" it's a pretty twisted apology. And this is ignoring the physical abuse.

As for what he can offer Maya, perhaps a loving and accepting family connection in her future? Having connections to your parent(s) and other family can enrich your life if it's a positive one. If he proves that he can provide that, then it might be something Maya decides she wants enough to reconcile with him.

Either way, there's a serious need for some therapy here. :ROFLMAO:

Personally I don't believe for a second that Maya's issues will resolve themselves with or without MC's or anyone else's help.

Simply put, if we roll back to the "teaser" scene of the holidays at Bella's house where you see a preview of an overturned table and so on. I think that it's Maya's dad that shows up, and not James. How he found out where Derek drove his car at? Well that one's easy, because Derek (the monumental moron that he is) asks to borrow his dad's car to drive back after the thanksgiving dinner. Instead of just walking down a couple corners and have someone use a mobile to call Bella for a pick up. It stands to reason, that the car has a GPS system installed on it, seeing as Maya's dad is a car salesman.

So yeah, I think shit will hit the fan in a monumental way, no matter if the MC is a DIK or Chick. Her dad will discover the files are missing, then do the math as to where they went, and storm into Bella's house and all hell will break loose. He'll probably even show up with a gun if the MC punched him in the face.

Files missing isn't a canon event. You can fail it. He has no reason to hunt for MC in that case. And hence no reason for it to be tied an event which will happen regardless of your choices or decisions.

Maya and Josy will break up next episode and then everything to do with Patrick is irrelevant.

Maya will get her money as she's already getting it and since she won't be lesbianing anymore, Patrick's threat will be even more empty. It's empty enough already since he'll never pull his daughter out of college to begin with even if she's a filthy lesbian.

Well that's the dream at least, but for some reason Pinkcakes thinks this Maya plot is engaging, he's got a blind spot towards the bitch or he would have fixed her disgusting skin episodes ago.
