Well then with no sarcasm, when is it okay for a DIK MC to cry? A junkie, restaurant-goer, street beater who nonetheless cries when Zoey returns doesn't seem believable to you.
The point, beyond the attempts at confusion, is clearly whether a mc dik and chick are really different or not.

The reaction of mc to Zoey does not seem to me to be as universal as the loss of his father might be.

Mc is pretty much the same, at most he is a victim of prejudice if we really want to continue to defend the affinity mechanism

At their core, DIK and CHICK MC are the same, as seen with how he reacts to canon events. Either one is basically Neutral MC with DIK/CHICK leanings. Branching and how the player dynamically interacts with the world is very limited.

You can turn left (MG) or right (Others), but the roads curve and rejoin later (canon shit). And on either road, you can walk on the sidewalk (CHICK) or the street itself (DIK). Or the grass (Neutral), but it's all really the same thing.

DIK MC is not some hardcore thug or absolute dickhead. He's ruder, loves to flirt, more prone to fighting, and will choose to party rather than stay at home. But he's still a rather sensitive young man, who values his relationships, and tries to stay true to himself—whoever that may be. Just a more brash version of CHICK MC.

so the watermelon has:

- Jill's stolen underwear
- a picture of Jill
- the engagement ring taped to it

but how come no one talks about THE LOCK OF HAIR TAPED TO IT???

i mean seriously, how the fuck di Tyballs get that from Jill???????
i thought that is another hole. i never looked it well.
he could stole it while Jill sleep or while she is out and search for the hair brush/comb.
he is ducking sick.
I'm not petty enough to say Bella, besides Bella would chew her up and spit her out.:ROFLMAO:

I still think the best fit for Zoey is Neil. :)
but... wait... chew him up and spit him out, not?
we talking about who is good for Derek if not Zoey.
Bullshit. It's just dpc stupid punishment system, that is not consistent with the actual plot of the game. Josy, Maya, and Jill basically rejecting MC based on decisions that has absolutely nothing do do wiht them no matter how " nice " you are toward them.
These are the illusion of choice, fake choices. Your actions toward individual person should matter and not whether you comfort Steve, who form the get go a jackass toward you .

You invest time and effort to study the song for Jill, something MC decide that he wants to learn but at least its up to the player whether he do it or not. and When you Help Jill make her Biggest Dream come True, and she admit, that you are nothing but Nice toward her ever since you first meet , but all that is not enough becasue somwehre along the line you made a choice, to not comfort a Jackass, or stand up, and Fight against Bullies, or that you decide to take care of a sick friend

but if you make all the right choices what has no effect toward her you can Chase both her and Her Best friend , and she can witness as you Fuck her Best Friend - who btw encourage her to date you - on her diining table.

And somehow that has literally Zero fall back on you. Somehow She not burst out at full anger at you and say " I never want to see you in my life ever again " , because she is so mature, only Josy has this privlege to actually act like a person who hurt by your actions , and she get shit for it.

No instead she suddenly became all BFF with Sage, and start to hang around you and your people , despite it felt like in 80% of the game she was like in an different game compared to everyone else.

Perfection at is finest
:coffee:
i see your angle. try out mine, it wont takes everything right, only a few thing.

a decesion has two thing. the first, what you see. the consequence of your decesion. but what about the effect on you what your decesion do? i am sure you heard something like, "your decesions shows who are you".

duckface has a core (forced) personality (i call it dpc's personality, i try my best to ignore it. i already have one personality, dont need his.). three choosable or buildable style/type (dik-neutral-chick). and many-many differnt option to make a decesion what has effect on his style and ofc has a consequence as sideeffect.

you build up your mc as a dik and you are helping to Jill with music stuff, but she still reject you. the reason, she dont like your way to talk, your emanation/radiation and etc... but she likes your decesion, because you are nice with her.

i could talking long about a situation, where a dog attacking a girl on street and a man comes to help her. but i want to be short.
if different type/style of man is it, that makes the girl thinking about what should be the reward? duck or money? if it a superhero or something what she find attractive, she duck with him, because she likes him and she is grateful. if it is a smelly homeless or something what she doesnt find attractive, she give him 100 dollar, because she dont like him, but still grateful. Jill see dik mc as a smelly one and chick mc as a hero.
in my mind it is total makes sense. but i missing a proper rejection scene like Maya and Jojo has in ep4

what doesnt make sense, is what you said last. she reject you (without rejection) if you going help for a sick person... it doesnt fit in her character at all. its very unfair from her. (and unfair from dpc, because the player can wait for the next content with Jill in vain)

about friendship between Sage and Jill... Sage found out, Jill is not her enemy's gf. so, what she felt against Jill, turned out as wrong. she feel herself wrong, so she want make it up. she is nice with Jill. Jill is nice with everyone, include Sage and Tybalt. okay, only in past. for now she isnt so nice with Tybalt anymore.
+ Jill and Sage have a common enemy, whats put them toughter.

about Balla and Bianca i dont have any knowledge. i play the main trashes path only for complete seasons, so atm ep8. but if there wont be anything after Jill saw mc with Balla (and Jill isnt friendzoned mc), than i will be disappointed. you are right, there should be something drama.

It's not that she's rejecting him because he's helping a sick friend, it's that the perfect opportunity for MC and Jill to connect is now gone, and without it (and the subsequent interactions) she doesn't care for MC enough to give him a real shot.

It isn't negativity on her part, it's just the absence of positivity.

In a perfect world whenever any of the female cast have some grievances they would settle it with mud wrestling. Footage of such events could also help fund participating fraternities expenses boosting economy and market. I think I would make pretty good dean of B&R. :coffee:

He's not a perfectionist; he pays attention to certain little details (or at least he used to) which helps his game stand apart from other bland piles of shit, but his game is clearly far from perfection and always has been. Even though I don't like it as much as before, there's no denying it's still one of the best out there (I can't comment on the whole Japanese visual novel industry that people say is awesome 'cause I've never touched that shit).
I definitely have to agree on that. I can't even play other AVNs because their writing, characters, music and story suck compared to Being a DIK. This game is by no means perfect but it's without a doubt one of the if not the best AVN. I like to make fun of the MC a lot but in all honesty, he's probably also the best protagonist in AVNs altogether. It seems like every other AVN protagonist is either a ridiculously edgy teenager, some lapdog simply because they lack any further character development and all their dialogue is "Well, time to go to work again! We'll see what my employer's got for me today." or just otherwise uninteresting, bland and unoriginal as the developers are more concerned with their VNs revolving around the female characters instead of the protagonist himself because they aren't focused on the story of their games as much as DPC is focused on his. In BADIK, there's depth to the plot and you can say what you want about it but it's much better that way than all of it just being a series of boring, repetitious plot devices that lead to having another lewd scene by the end of it with that being the ultimate goal of every single one of them. There's also much more attention to detail in Being a DIK in general than there is in other AVNs at all, and even though the setting of it isn't anything new or special, it's still way livelier and entertaining because it's done by someone who's actually devoted to it and passionate about developing it. You know why DPC chose to make a game about college and its frat life. Likewise, you know why 'College Kings' has a similar milieu. BADIK is way more enjoyable than any other adult visual novel that I've played was.

Just a quick brainstorm.

Pros:
  • MC doesn't rape girls in their sleep.
  • MC doesn't drug girls in order to have sex with them (rape them in other words).
  • MC doesn't accidentally fall over and slip his DIK into his sister (not technically rape if it's an accident, unless it's an "accident").
  • MC doesn't spy on... Oh yeah, ok, he does spy on girls getting changed...
  • MC tells girls he likes them if he likes them. Then they fuck.
  • Girls often have their own agency and direction, they don't live for the mc's pleasure (but they are still accommodating).
  • A huge number of the girls have their own distinct personalities.
  • MC isn't a narcissistic cunt.
  • MC doesn't have an Oedipus Complex (or does he... is it him or us that is looking at his naked mom's image through the diary )
  • MC's dad is alive and he isn't a piece of shit.
  • Episodes are HUGE.
  • Comedy is very good.
  • Music is very well selected (at least in the earlier episodes, it doesn't do much for me lately).
  • The main plot is simple but engaging.
  • Phone interface is well done.
  • DnG (yeah you all know you love it, pretty sure the finale episode is gonna be one huge DnG game with all the guests at the mc's wedding).
  • Flowing dialog that's an engaging read (plus don't get bogged down in walls of text where a good render will do all the talking).
  • Good renders.
  • Fine animations.
  • Good pacing (except for the year wait between episodes now).
  • And I personally like that there is extremely minimal narration, mostly it's just visual actions and dialogue. DPC indicated that narration is one of his weak points so he avoids it, but I haven't seen too many AVNs that narrate well anyway, and the dialogue driven story is more engaging to me anyway.

Cons:
  1. Episodes take too long due to bloat (mostly unnecessarily long animations).
  2. Episode 9's direction (random flashbacks are a horrible way to tell a story like this).
  3. Longer and longer free roams are starting to turn the game into a pseudo sandbox.
  4. Free roam navigation is utterly shit.
  5. Can't think of other stuff that I think is detracting from the game's enjoyment at the moment.

The game is rated in the top 10 of this site for a reason, and has the most views, the most replies, the most reactions (to the first post), the most ratings, pretty much the most everything. And well deserved. But yeah, it's still fun to put the boot into DPC when we feel he's a LMMF. And for the Maya loan debacle! :p

Just think of the I told you so you can give everyone if your right
I would apply Pascal's Wager to this one. Go with Team Pessimist, because if you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised, but if you're right, you were already bracing for it.

On the flip side if you go with Team Optimist, if you're right, congrats, but if you're wrong, you're in the foetal position by the time it arrives.

Ok, that's kinda the opposite to Pascal's Wager, but I couldn't think of anything wittier...

I fully agree with you, being pessimist saves you a lot of headaches and disappointments. And with BaDIK it's not be pessimist, it's being realistic

What about "incredibly overblown, useless and complicated timesink mini games that some people even felt the need to make excel sheets for because they influence the events success score"?
Dunno if that's a bummer for you but it sure is a bummer for me! :HideThePain:

+ pros:
1.Great work with emotional moments, maybe the best among all AVNs
2.Gameplay variability. Episodes are large and the game offers a change of activity, distracting from monotonous reading: the same free-roams, phone and mini-games serve to prevent the player from doing the same thing the whole game. Most episodes do it well except Ep.9

+1 to cons:
Some mini games are poorly made and annoying. New math test and the black cube are hell.

one step at a time you are getting closer to my position.:ROFLMAO:

MC canon is not neutral but it is very Chick, and it is so predominant that the choices made about affinity all come across as quite contrived.

you talked about the importance of the picnic with Jill, which is so crucial in clarifying the feelings she has. AND YET, if Mc is DIK, after this pivotal moment, a couple of days later Jill realizes that he is not the right man and at that point his fate (??!) is sealed. doesn't that seem a bit of a specious decision?

your point is good. well, it makes the whole scene stupid, where retarted mc cant say out a few words like "Jill, its good idea, i want it, but i have to caring a sick friend. come with me to Sage, 1-2 hour later we go to the picknick."
