Renpy doesn't support that frame rate.The easiest thing he can do to slow down development is to create 5 and 10 minute animations, lol. Well or just create more of those animations.
But I agree that if DPC doesn't do anything like that anymore and stick to 60fps the animations will render much faster.

By the way, why the excellent WT MOD is never cited despite being so useful and hassle free? It simpler than Sancho/Scrappy and does not let you cheat, but it never caused me problems and it speeds up enormously when having to play many paths.

This is what I don't get either, having never seen the code (and a quick google search didn't give anything) I don't have a clue what it looks for - Ive read that both mods are a no go, on here the other day they said only the Scrappy Mod was looked for. And I have even read that editing variables yourself through the console can flag it.

From what I know only Scrappy saves a persistent variable (the worst idiocy ever). I haven't installed Scrappy or Sancho but I know for sure that ScrappyMOD does, because we have reports of that. DPC inserted two lines of code specifically to look for that variable, in a random point during dialogues. If TRUE, quits. I don't have the VN in this PC so I would post you the code. WT MOD does not save any new variable for example. And doing that was an unnecessary and stupid move by Scrappy. Then there is another line to detect Android (DPC does not release an Android version), I've seen it when I looked at the source. If Sancho leaves a trace in the variables, it can be detected.

Many ignorant people say a lot of bullshit regarding MODS or Console, especially in the Simp Valley of Reddit. Console use cannot be detected. If you mess the variables by cheating (Console or Mod) the game could return error, but that's not because of some specific coherence check by DPC, it's simply because if you mess up a software by blindly editing values, any program will return error. If you use Console knowing what you are doing you are safe. But you have to look at the code for that.
Obviously if a player, using the Console, is so retarded to create a persistent variable with the same name of Scrappy's one, well, the game will quit as well. But that would be the dumbest move ever.

Well, seems like next-gen flagship will have 32GB of VRAM, it's basically confirmed now

Now, DPC will be able to fill his scenes up with even more characters and assets much easier than it was before for two generations where the flagships only had 24GB of VRAM
No doubt he'll try to upgrade to 5000 Series ASAP unlike with the 4000 Series when he waited for a bit, as there was no VRAM uplift, but just in the amount of CUDA cores

Really excited about this one even though we'll see the results of that beefy upgrade only after Episode 11

I don't think he'll update during the development of this episode. The new cards will be available in February. He'll probably upgrade for the next episode. Time to go 120fps I suppose. If VRAM is the issue he could also have got an RTX 6000 Ada 48GB for one workstation in the last years, around 8000 EUR. That would be useful for really complex scenes (despite being less fast than a 4090). He's probably the only VN developer that can both afford it and have a valid reason for such a choice.
If RTX 5090 will support NVlink with VRAM doubling (I don't think so), 2x 5090 would be much better than an Ada 6000 even regarding VRAM. But 32GB should be already enough for his use.

  • Animations: 306 > 305 (-1) > 389 (+84) [10.5/weeks]. Again can't really calculate as they get merged.
• Since last, we now have 25 Previews (+4) and 7 Rooster (+4), EP10 had 30/8.
• Well even January Orthodox will not get it for Christmas, but it will still be for Winter, right?
  I'm betting on shorter animations left to render and his PC will 100% focus them, but could be late Feb too.
• Release could be 14th February (434 days / 14 months, 6 days / 62 weeks projection). 86% complete.

Isn't he using already compiled video files lately? So not animations assembled by Renpy engine, hence fps restrictions should not apply. It would simply be a video file to play. I haven't got the game on this PC otherwise I would check. I don't know how RenPy could limit the fps of an encoded video.
This is obviously theory no one would ever go to 120fps for a VN when most current monitors don't even support a refresh rate that can handle that. Gamer's monitors are not the standard.

I know, but the MOD for season 1 still works totally fine, and it's a real time saver. It suggests also the right choices on Swiper and Rooster. Months ago I was able to redo many paths in two days when it would normally have take me weeks (yeah I have too many paths).

And later, at the party for the new HOTs, Mona is caught between Maya and Quinn again.

if rejecting Burke had already sealed Mona's fate, what would be the point of making her a HOTs, celebrating her entrance, and kicking her out later?

I agree, making her a HOT made no sense if she was going to get forced out anyway, unless Quinn didn't know.
The last scene we see with her, before the "walking away" scene is when she doesn't support Maya's claim that Quinn promised them free tuition, I always assumed the guilt over that was the last straw that made her break and leave. It seems like she went to her room and packed just after Maya left, considering how her leaving is shown.

Now, it's still up for debate whether Burke actually knows just how shady Quinn is. But ultimately, I think Mona was a girl who knew too much, and to save himself, Burke cut her funding, forcing her to go.

the question of the restaurant's reputation seems irrelevant to me. Burke is part of the restaurant's mechanism.

to tell the truth we don't know his precise role in all this. clearly he is not just a customer, but is he Quinn's boss or are they both in the service of someone else? Burke runs these ‘fake’ grants that evidently represent the reality hidden behind the rumor of free tuition, it is a very high risk.
