Hey Everyone!

I just finished the first 7 chapter of this game, and because now i have to wait, i came here to read some of your thought and share some of mine's.

I don't usually write a post about a game or an experience, but I’m making an exception now, because i have to do something while i'm waiting for to the next chapter.

A little backstory about my VN experience

First of all, in the past i wasn't interested about adult visual novels.
I think my first experience was came from City of broken dreamers, and to be honest i really enjoyed it. But that was an unfinished story, and I really hate unfinished stories.
So time to time i went up to Steam discussion page to check if there's a new release or atleast some information about releasing or something, and there was a discussion about other games like CoBD, that's how i found Acting Lessons and Being a DIK.

I started with AL, because that's a whole story, and almost every people said that's a really really good game.
From about a middle of the game, i didn't really get interested in erotic scenes, because story was completely captivating.
I tried to follow my instincts instead of trying out every possible way, so i always picked the options what i would pick in the real life.
When i finished the game, I felt completely destroyed, and i think i can't go through the story again just to explore another ways.
That game is a masterpiece, and the most important what i learned:
When you playing one of visual novels from DPC, "never let your guard down".
Because when you think nothing bad could happened, you will get a slap from Doc'.
And the same thing is true for BaD.

After 1500 character of blabbering, let's get to our main subject

Almost every person said this game is much more lightweight than AL, so i thought "OK, take it easy, this will be fun".
At the beggining, everything looked good, there was a lot of pretty girl, so I just drifted with the story and I made a mistake, I forgot that Doc could surprise me any time.
After that Josy's arrived to the college...
Maybe i took the story too serious, or i'm too sensitive for that story.
Anyway, let me tell my opinion one by one.
I think Josy is the prettiest girl in this game, but i think i have to let it go. Although there's still some option to flirt with her so i'm not sure about it, but we will see.

Maya is cute girl, and there was a couple of good scenes with her, but so far nothing more for me.

At the beggining i didn't like Sage, but as we are going forward and the story reveals more and more about characters i started to like her.
She's such a great girl, and hey i'm her fuck buddy :D

Quinn... The most divisive girl. Personally i don't like her, she's arrogant and seems an evil, but who knows, maybe something will change my opinion later.

The other HOT's are not my type, i don't know why, most of them looks like an "easy girl".

Jade is a hot milf, i really like her, but its just an adventure. Of course, a really good adventure :)

Bella, the Ice Queen, who can kill with her eyes...
Such a hot woman, maybe her tits is too oversized... :D
She was really aloof and cold at the beggining, so i have to put some effort to it, but if you can break her shield it turns out, she's a lovely person. But she's still hiding something and i'm really curious about it.

Last but not atleast Jill...
I chose her after what happened with Josy and Maya, but now i'm not sure if my decision was right. I don't like easy girls, so at first it was good that I have to make an effort to get it, but it starting to get boring because it feels like the whole thing is going nowhere. I hope DPC will come up with something. If not, Bella or Sage are still there.

There's a lot of other things, but this post is getting really long, so i think that's enough for this time.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and have a nice day :)

Dude, I am not hating you, where did I say that? o_O  I just found the post funny....

You said that Sage knows about Quinn's free tuition procedure....Really? It's not true!
don't try to fool me man, you used this statement very intentionally " MEN ARE YOU PLAYING THE GAME?" . you think the mechanism you used for conversation is new to me. :ROFLMAO:

For example, it will turn out that all of Quinn's money is spent on treating seriously ill HOTs and then attitudes towards her will change dramatically. It's a very cheap manipulation, but it will work.
First of all, there are no seriously ill HoTs. All of them are fine, except a redhead :(

Secondly, if you remember in Ep6, when Tommy talks with Quinn about what happened, Tommy says that the money is for her, to which Quinn says that it is for her and Tommy as well and everyone enjoying this drug lifestyle.

Do you think she will help Elena? She isn't the type of person who will help a HoT for nothing.
Playing with people, she lost her friendship with Tommy, lost Mona and now all she has left is Riona.
Just one point, Mona wasn't her friend. Quinn used Mona as she uses the other restaurant girls to earn money.

Yes, she lost Mona but not as a friend but as a Restaurant girl.
don't try to fool me man, you used this statement very intentionally " MEN ARE YOU PLAYING THE GAME?" . you think the mechanism you used for conversation is new to me. :ROFLMAO:
Dude your point was wrong and I just thought using that sentence. No hate from me :)

I see that some Quinn fans are still unable (or unwilling) to understand why she is hated by others, and have now convinced themselves that people don't like Quinn because she is a villain/bitch or that she offends some people's delicate sensibilities.

What a load of horseshit that is.

I don't hate Quinn because she is a bitch; I hate her because we aren't allowed to treat her like the bitch she is. Just take a moment to compare her to Tybalt. There's a night and day difference between how the two are handled by the game. You can punch Tybalt in the face, hit him in the nuts, knock his teeth out, and fuck his mother. What can you do to Quinn? You can tell her to eat shit and immediately get laughed at for it. That's about it. It's pathetic. Quinn has done far more to antagonize us than Tybalt, but she gets the kiddie glove treatment.

We've had several perfect opportunities to retaliate against Quinn by ruining her schemes, but the game just won't let us do it. Instead, we get these awful moments like the one where the MC tells Maya that she can't trust Quinn because she is evil but won't explain why. Shit like that is why Quinn is a terrible character that deserves all the hate she gets.

I can hardly believe that people are trying to compare Quinn to classic villains from other media. It's almost as big of a joke as Quinn is. Honestly, who in the game is afraid of Quinn? It's not Maya, as she just slapped Quinn in front of all of the HOTs. It's not Josy, who effortlessly played Quinn like a fiddle when they first met. It's not Sage, who cowed Quinn into submission when Quinn suggested that Sage ask her folks for money. It's not Lily, who openly mocked Quinn when Quinn was trying to intimidate Mona. It could possibly be Mona, although she and Camilla both went against Quinn's orders and were banging the MC for free, so it's more likely that Mona was afraid of Stephen Burke rather than Quinn. I guess that just leaves Riona, who was slapped into submission by Quinn once. What an impressive feat that was. Every bit as badass a scene as when Vader found that one dudes lack of faith disturbing.

Quinn is not a complex villain. She is the most basic bitch you could possibly put into a game. She's mean to others because she comes from a broken home. How original. She acts tough but is secretly insecure. What a surprise. I can't wait to learn the next shockingly unpredictable secret about her.

Quinn is so pathetic that she can barely be considered a villain. She's a painfully incompetent moron who has betrayed every single person who has ever trusted her, and is now sad that she has nobody to turn to. And we are supposed to pity this two bit bully because she got mugged by another junkie who stole her stash? Why? I thought it was hilarious. I just wish that the MC was allowed to think so too. Instead, we get stuck rushing to her aid no matter what choices we make in the game.

Quinn is the worst character in the game. Her stupid plot is so flimsy that it requires other characters to be dumbed down to ridiculous levels. MC can't tell Maya or Sage about Quinn whoring out the HOTs. Maya can't ask Sage about the free tuition. Sage has had her head so far up her own ass that she somehow missed that half of her sorority members were turning tricks.

In every possible way, Quinn is trash. She was supposed to be a character that people love to hate, but there's nothing about her to love. And we aren't even allowed to actually hate her in the game because she's the writer's pet. Quinn sucks (mostly Stephen's dick, but also just in general). That's why her fans are so often in denial about her. I've seen some of them claim that she doesn't use hard drugs, despite the fact that we've seen her nodding off with a needle in her arm. Another post once claimed that she was the safest girl to have unprotected sex with, because we all know that needle sharing smack whores are clean as a whistle. It's hilarious watching them post nonsense and then claim that everyone else just doesn't understand her like they do. It's almost as funny as when they make death threats against anyone who insults their precious waifu, which is also a thing that happened here once.

You want to break quinn teeth yet claim :you said - I don't hate Quinn - Yes you do. (I HAVE SERIOUS DOUBT ON YOUR PERSONALITY AND MENTAL STABILITY):ROFLMAO:
Doesn't seem like he wants to break Quinn's teeth, that appears to just be an example of how MC can make a real DIK move against Tybalt but not against her.

The thing is MC is a good guy, DIK or CHICK, he isn't a hateful asshole, he lets pretty much everything roll off his shoulder. Yeah, MC can knock out some fake teeth of a prep who will just buy more fake teeth, but isn't trying to ruin anyone's life (ok there may be some permanent psychological damage if Tybalt finds out about about the fun with Jade, but that isn't the reason MC is with Jade). Pretty much anything MC could do to Quinn would either be petty or get her arrested/kicked out of the school, not just the sorority. Giving Dawe an "extra protein shake" is in the MC's nature. Getting Chad kicked out of college is not. Warning Maya not to trust Quinn without going into details, is in the MC's nature. Sabotaging the party Quinn arranged is in the MC's nature, exposing her escort service is not.

You can be with Jade AND still be a massive CHICK, despite being in that relationship requires a DIK action (not sure I agree with dem, but whatever). Being a DIK is not really evil, but you're pretty much asshole comparing to CHICK. Tho I'd argue you still pretty much a douche being a CHICK as much as a DIK, like my MC is a massive CHICK and still can screw with multiple girls.

You're putting too much effort into a character who's not even worth it. Granted, I've made the same mistake, lol.
Just let the 'chads' believe in their superiority through submission to Quinn. You can't convince someone who's not interested in reason, even though it's frustrating.

At this point Quinn's paper thin 'background story' quoted as motivation is more disappointing than her shitty behavior itself. It's sad to see, when the game could have been much more than a vehicle for mini-games and scavenger hunts.

Welcome aboard!

If you haven't played Depraved Awakening yet, you should give it a try. That was PhillyGames's first AVN, prior to CoBD. It's quite good and is complete.

Let me welcome you to the "fan family" on this thread, too. Like real families, sometimes we appreciate each other and bask in our shared joy and love for "Being a DIK" and other times we yell and scream at each other, usually over trivial nonsense.

As you have probably seen, the "Acting Lessons" experience has many "Being a DIK" fans nervous about what Dr Pinkcake has in store for us this time. I'm a bit nervous, as well, but Pinkcake has said frequently that he doesn't want to repeat himself and that we shouldn't engage in groundless speculation and rumormongering. Based on what we've seen so far in BaDIK, I am sure that we will face many more difficult choices and a few heartbreaking moments, but I am hopeful that the kind of gut punching moment like we saw in "Acting Lessons" will not occur. Like you, I felt devastated by that story's ending. It took me months pick up the game again and try another playthrough.

While I have trusted Pinkcake at his word that he doesn't plan to repeat himself, it's also easy to imagine all kinds of horrible scenarios that we may face in upcoming episodes: Steven Burke is clearly a bad guy and has reason to hurt the MC and/or those he cares about. Bella appears to have a dark secret in her past and we have lots of foreshadowing already that she needs help. Quinn is running a prostitution and drug ring out of the HOTs sorority, exposing herself, Riona, and others to all sorts of trouble, some of which has only been hinted at so far. Maya has money problems and a father who actively opposes who she is and the life she wants to live.

Then there are the "lesser" dramas, the fodder for speculation and fantasizing by dalli_x and others : did the MC's mom die in childbirth or was there some foul play? What happened to Jill's sister? Is Tybalt just a buffoonish asshole or is he capable of causing real harm and heartache for Jill, our MC, and maybe others?

If you're looking for other completed games to enjoy, I recently discovered "Good Girl Gone Bad" by Eva Kiss. It's a 2D game with original art and a female protagonist, which some people can't get into, but I'm enjoying the hell out of it and it has a ton of replay value, as different choices early on open up or close off options throughout the game.

Quinn is the worst character in the game.
If she really was the worst character in the game, would you have written that diatribe about her? Your evident hatred of the character, contrasted with the reactions of those of us who like her, suggests DPC has actually been pretty successful with Quinn's character development. She's polarising, as she was designed to be. And whilst I take your point that she may not be a complex villain on the scale of classics from other media, I think a fair view of things would lead most to agree she's one of the more complex characters in this game.

There also seems to be a contradiction in your conception of who she is: at various points in your comment, Quinn is just a "two bit villain with a flimsy story", whilst at others she's "done far more to antagonize us than Tybalt." I'm not sure she can be both of those things. Nor can you fairly blame Quinn, per se, for what you see as a lack of an appropriate reaction from the MC.

Look, you're entitled to your view and to hate the character. What I dislike in some comments, (not necessarily yours although maybe there is an undercurrent of it) is this idea that fans of Quinn are somehow objectively "wrong" to like her, or that she doesn't warrant any fandom. It's like it's not enough for someone to just hate her, they have to convince everyone else to hate her too, and it annoys them that anyone would like her at all. What seems to have kicked this up a gear in recent episodes is DPC's gradual and deliberate softening of the character and the budding romance with the MC, which has definitely seen a rise in her fanbase as a result. I would expect this to only intensify in future episodes. My view, and it is only my view, is that a lot of Quinn haters are mostly people who haven't reconciled themselves to the fact that DPC has bigger plans for the character than simply as a bitchy antagonist. It's their right to continue to dismiss her as a "two bit villain", but don't get mad at those of us who see her as more than that.

Oh shit... Another war with the Quinn fans
nah, it seems like they are hunting for likes at this point. Not even going to argue. I mean :

Writes a literal essay about a character in a porn game.

Noooo how can you have a different opinion than me?!?!?!?!!?!? I hate her, therefore everyone must hate her!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Me me me me me, everything is about me, don't you see what she does is evil??!?!?!?!?!! DPC is screwing us because we didn't get the option to crucify her...

Btw you are taking someone that contradicts himself multiple times in the same post too seriously :LUL:

I don't hate Quinn because MC can't retaliate; although, I am still waiting for Derek and MC to make good on their promise to steal her clothes. Quinn is rather badass and has a body she isn't ashamed of (nor should she, wow!), so I doubt walking around naked would affect her at all...hell she was sunbathing nude outside the HOT house. I don't even hate Quinn because of how she treats MC. I hate Quinn for how she treats my friends, namely Maya, Riona, and Mona to name a few. I think Quinn's actions towards my sweet Riona get me the most angry. Calling her stupid, slapping her, pimping her out, constantly belittling her, and ignoring her safety concerns. If DPC ever gives us a chance to exact revenge upon Quinn, I'm going to take it in the name of Riona. For now, giving Quinn a satisfying hate buttfuck is the best my MC can do.

Sidenote: One of my fav text scenes was in ep. 7 with Riona when she asks MC for help. Your MC agrees of course (you'd better agree you bastard) and Riona thanks you when you tell her she can trust you... and then she ends it with a kiss emoji. Awww
And if I catch Vinny or that little fucking rat Nick stalking Riona.... I swear, Nick has an even more punchable face than Tybalt.
