Funny is, you guys hate AL but when someone criticizes what they don't like in BAD you guys wanna argument about every word I say lol.
AL was my first VN ever. I was in lockdown searching for (cheap) games to play on steam and after playing "Life is Strange", my first game with story and based on the player choices, I decided I wanted more of the same style. I skipped BaD because I saw it was a game all about sex and decided to buy AL.
As I said, I only played the game once, I couldn't bring myself to try any other gameplay/path of that game, and right after I finished it, I deleted the game from my pc.
I didn't hate that game. It was what made me love and look for more VNs to play. To be honest with you, I was a lot reluctant to try Being a Dik, because in my mind it was all about sex and it wasn't what I was looking for at the moment.
So I bought CoBD next, and it was all about sex anyway.
I was "depressed" more for the fact that I was stuck in my house without being able to go out. I also had covid. And even though AL was a fucking sad game, it gave me a lot to think about my life. Different of you I didnt think any character was souless. We had a girl who was abused by her step dad and needed help. She was just a young woman, We had the girl who helped mc and cared for mc when he was in coma and we had the best friend, that I found out later that my MC wasn't being a best friend at all. He didn't know about anything that was going on in his BF life, but yet he was able to help MC and stood beside MC in every path and hard moments of his life, he was selfless. Sometimes when you are depressed, knowing that other people are going through some hard shit but they are not giving up and they are trying their best for themselves and those around them can be a good motivation to work on things in your life. That is why, different from most people, I loved that game and got into VNs.
So yes, I am a madman.

If her Dad took a loan for her college then she just needs to drop out, the bank will claw back the loan when it's not used for tuition, Maya has no debt for life, her Father has no leverage on her. Then Maya can take out a government loan and continue her education and her life.

It's been pointed out repeatedly that there is no loan problem. Maybe Maya is just really stupid and doesn't realize it. So then she can find out, with just a little effort. How?

She could google it on her phone. If she can't afford internet for her phone she could go to the library and look it up, or use one of their computers.

She could ask any teacher.

She could ask her girlfriend, who is a Business Major and in any sane, competently written universe, would surely know.

I wrote all that out just to show that it is impossible for Maya's Father to force her to stop dating someone with the threat of withholding any help with her college cost in any real world scenario. And no, her Father's church isn't going to loan her the money, in the US that's regulated. If that was the case she just has to walk away, she can't be held liable for the debt. If a church or any other organization is giving her money for college it's a scholarship, and that doesn't have to be repaid.

So we can't use the realworld situation as a baseline. Maya lives in Duckburg and the rules of the universe are different there.

So where does that leave us?

It leave's us with Maya, a pathetic, useless character who is perpetually in need of a savior. If you want to be Maya's savior go to it, enjoy yourself. But not everyone wants that, even though we are forced to endure it, Maya just won't go away and let other people enjoy the rest of the game.

So, what they are trying to do is to exchange "help" to obtain love. That's why the need for the eternal damsel in distress, the "help" has to go on and on to receive the "love". This is called "codependency" in psychology, and it needs a giver and a taker. Is quite common.

Healthy couples are different. They love, not trade. They are more balanced. One may need extra support sometimes but do not follow the White Knight/Princess dynamic all the time. See the difference?

I dont care about what you think. I am having my fun while you are getting tilted over there lol. I am discussing. As far as I know I only pointed things I didn't like on DPC story towards maya, and pointed things I don't like about her. If it seems spreading hatred, it comes from you, maya fans, who actually tried to offend me, even if you failed. Hey, I hear you, but at least it's not release week. I changed my settings months ago to show 100 posts per page. I really love people who think outside the box. Thanks guys. We are not hating, we are pointing out the character flaws in our point of view or even story flaws, Not everyone has to see things like we do, that doesn't mean we won't talk about it. Whatever we say here won't change anything that is already written by DPC, that doesn't mean we won't say "what if..."
When we are not loving everything a dev may have done, people want to throw rock at us like if we are hurting their family lol.
