On a serious note, she might play an important role in the story in the future, that much I agree with, mainly because of her position in the Pink Rose. As I tried to explain to you, the DIKs weren't in the dark (as far as they knew). What was the rush to discuss something the DIKs already know? The HOTs changing plans might be a bummer, but there would be plenty of other opportunities to party with the DIKs. It only became a disaster because Quinn ducked out of warning the DIKs, and we know Quinn kept that part a secret.

And that's assuming the HOTs knew they were originally going to be at the DIKs; Heather clearly did not know that.

I agree that Elena would probably have learned about the Hell Week plans from John Boy if nothing else, but again, there was no pressing need to discuss the disappointing news right then. You say the girls must have had some warning since they had to get dressed, but they already knew they were going to a party and it's not like they changed to clothes especially suited to the prep party. It's likely they really did learn at the last minute since Quinn wanted to keep this quiet.

So I replayed the whole part of the game, to be sure.

As I tried to explain to you, it doesn't make sense, that no one knew anything until late at night.

As I replayed the chapter I noticed some things and will correct my statements now.

1. The girls didn't need to dress fancy (I just remembered Maya and Josy) they were all in HoT's uniforms (except for daughters).

2. There is no way you can deny Quinn's fault here, she was the operator behind everything, tho Sage still to blame for the omission.

My main point was that this whole radio silent thing that caused all this commotion was contrived since these people live on their phones. Notice how Josy still had her phone. And I will not back out of Elena just not talking with John-boy as even the game realizes this hole, but acknowledging doesn't change its existence.

The problem we run into when we hang out on the forums (too much? ) discussing a piece of writing is that we run out of big things to talk about. Then we start nit-picking little things and, maybe, reading too much into it when it doesn't line up with reality.

Reminder: Suspension of disbelief.

You're absolutely correct that in reality there's almost zero chance one of the girl-friends wouldn't have mentioned it to their DIK boyfriend. Or any of that HOTs wouldn't have said something on social media.
But the B&R campus is a work of fiction.
We apply 'suspension of disbelief', accept that this is the way it happened because that's the way the author said it happened.

If DPC were to try and write it to line up with reality it would A) bore you to death, and B) make 'War and Peace' look like a light read.

We should discuss our theories of character motivations, where the story is going, what we don't exactly like about the story, etc, etc. to our hearts content.

But when you catch yourself nit-picking details, remind yourself of those 3 words. 'Suspension of disbelief'

Ok, this one got me mad, not gonna lie, had to calm myself down before answering.

This will depend on what you consider Nit-picking. I don't consider constructive criticism as nit-picking. I'm not going DavDR and saying the story is trash.

I'm merely pointing out how this entire exchange made no sense in the setting of the story. As you mention "suspension of disbelief" is applied when the audience feels inserted in the world of the story, hence you can not simply utilize it to disregard the complete void of interactions between characters for the sake of this little subplot to happen.

I hate when people try to dismiss you with the "lol you cared what a loser!". As in my previous comment, I realize I was misremembering things and corrected myself after a playthrough of the events. But my overall thought remains, in the previously established lore of this story there is no way the HoT's would go party with the preps with no one finding out, Elena not talking to John-Boy, Josy not calling the MC (she is seen with her cellphone at the party).

Once the rules of the story are broken suspension of disbelief goes out the window, just think 'The Last Jedi', that dumpster-fire, SW had a previously set of rules applied to it, we assumed that Space work normally, but according to the Last Jedi, Space has gravity. Luke is not the saviour, Leia has superpowers, etc... If you look at it as an independent movie, it looks like a Sci-fy Michael Bay flick, but if you look at it understanding the rules of the overarching story it becomes garbage.

As I previously pointed out in many statements, the story is not perfect, but it is really good. The game is vanilla so what keeps us here ain't the kinks, it's the characters, so when they act differently from what the story would dictate them to act it will feel like a contrivance, that will go according to the type of writer that is making the story, some like to just drop their characters and see where the story goes, others like to make their characters for specific actions, the narrator vs the architect.

And again, at the end of things what changed in the overall story? Nothing. The Dik's go back to the HoT's (I mean they are Hot so can't blame them), Tommy goes back to Quinn (coz he is a drug addict and she is his dealer). You could say that it served to make the protagonist take a bigger part of the responsibility in the fraternity, and instill distrust among the DiK's in Tommy's leadership. But that will remain to be seen, and if this quick rupture that happens in chapter 5 doesn't lead anywhere we would be staring at a Chekov's gun (A completely useless story element that just serves for the author to shoot himself in the foot). It was a good excuse for the MC to have exclusive use of the whole HoT corps tho, that I will recognize.

Tl;dr: I'm not saying the story sucks, but if you just clap and cheer people won't ever get better at what they do. Contrivances matter to keep the story congealed and although I care, it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the VN.
