The Problem and Solution with Big Brother v0.11
So v0.11 is my first time playing BB, and I gotta say its a great game and I subbed on Patreon within the first few hours of gameplay. For the past week or so I've grinded... I mean played through game and loved it despite its numerous, yet minor, flaws. While playing BB and reading these discussion threads I noticed a sharp contrast between the early game content and the later game content. This is what I believe is one, if not the, direct cause for all the unrest around the 0.11 content.
A fundamental part of the early game was that you could make decisions that impacted how the game would play. The Lisa/Olivia GF routes, Eric friend/war routes, and then later the Lisa GF/lover routes shaped the kind of person (to some extent) the player wanted Max to be. Then as end game came nearer and we came to the v0.11 content it seemed like all the previous choices no longer mattered. We (the players) were rail-roaded into BDSM submissive content that seemingly unraveled all the variety the various paths gave us.
The game changed from a "A sandbox with multiple scenario lines which are crossing with each other in some unexpected and non-trivial ways" to a visual novel half way through the game. This is, IMHO, the fundamental issue behind the backlash. The early sandbox game allowed players to decide if they wanted romance/intimacy (Lisa GF), sharing or exhibitionism (Olivia GF), voyeurism or cuckold (Eric) etc. and allowed them to build the story to their preferences, fetishes, and/or interests. With the more visual novel outlook it either diminished or destroyed peoples individual stories and morphed it into something they may not potentially have wanted or liked.
The fix for this seems easy (I have no experience with coding) and that would be just making more choices and therefore making things that people may not like optional. Its a win-win. People who like it still get it and people who don't, don't. Obviously it's more work, but it is suppose to be a sandbox game with multiple scenarios and not a visual novel. Anyway thanks for reading, I'd love to know if you agree with me or not. I hope DS or someone from his crew will read this because I feel its super integral to the future of the game.
TLDR: New patreon, love game, in later stages of the game changed from sandbox to visual novel causing the way people built their story to be destroyed, simply return to sandbox mode with choices to fix this
