What kind of promise did DS make, and where did DS make that promise? We have had this disagreement in the past. If you are promised a product, via a releasal date, plans or special access then the developer has entered into an agreement with you. Thus I have the right to expect what I have pledged for, if you just aske me to support the development of your game for xxx amount of money then indeed you have no obligations. That is where we differ in our attitude. Most developers are making promises of access for different level of payments etc. Traditionally patronage is a gift of money without strings. Not the case here.
If a panhandler offers to clean your windshield for cash, you expect it to be done, even if it is poorly done. You may decline the service, but he has an obligation. In reality he is just another begger, but he has a gimick.
Glamour was a project he had started before BB and he abandoned in 2016 to start BB. Now he relaunches it from the start. ~> He is someone that likes to return to old things he left ~> increases probability that he will return to BB. After all, he returned to Glamour. All the bullshit we went through, all the money he/she gladly cashed, and now all of a sudden he/she can't work on his/her project because Patreon "told em' to". If Dark Silver really is that much of a push over, I fear where his/her projects will lead to. It shows that the slightest disruption in monetary gain will make Dark Silver bend over and jump ship on the project they are currently working on. "Glamour" reeks of desperation, the main character being a female is a horrible fucking idea. The majority of us who play these games are males, we like to be males in games, we can't put ourselves in the situation of courting and fucking a guy. No offence, that's pretty gay. Even going for chicks while playing as one makes our skin crawl, it's just not us playing and making the decisions, we are conforming to a character that we can't and never will relate to. If you're a female, maybe that's great? But let's be honest, how large a portion of the market is female? Now I'd be highly skeptical of supporting any project with the name "Dark Silver" on it.
In the end, did we even get to take Lisa's virginity? Seems like a huge dick move if it doesn't even end with that.
I really hope he stays in Patreon too as I feel much safer paying there than in a recently-made site with not that much security where my email can be stolen etc.So, that’s why he’s setting up his own site where people can pledge monthly. If all his Patreons migrate there, a ban on Patreon wouldn’t matter and he could continue releasing BB.
Well that`s true, on the other hand you can`t get the game without pledging(legally, not pirating). So it`s kinda buying the game itself, it`s not all black and white to be fair... Supporting the dev would be the donation system for a game that he gives out for free, not this whole patreon thing. This pledges are more like encouraging them to actually do/finish something you like and it`s in the early phases of development. So after you are pledged for about 1-2 years, you kinda want a finished product for all that money, otherwise you can even look at it as some sort of scam. Finally someone with sense in him, after all the constant comments saying the same old shit.
No, DS wouldn't want to drop BB voluntarily, because it would cost him a lot of money.
All the alternatives suggested here wouldn't work, either because the site is unreliable or uses the wrong payment model. People need to understand DS has employees that he has to pay. That leads into my final point:
Making a patch wouldn't work. Patreon wanted BB completely gone.
Right now, having just a site where he releases BB while people pledge on Patreon is risky. If his Patreon gets banned, his source of income is gone.
So, that’s why he’s setting up his own site where people can pledge monthly. If all his Patreons migrate there, a ban on Patreon wouldn’t matter and he could continue releasing BB.

Last thing: Patreon doesn’t work like Steam. On Steam you buy a license to download and play a game. On Patreon, you support a creator. If you support the creator, you get bonusses for the months that you pledge. In DS’s case, that would be to have access to that months update.
You support the creator by pledging, you don’t buy the game via pledging, and it doesn’t mean you’re promised a finished game.
IM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS WELL FOR MANY OTHER SCENESBig Brother [v0.13.0.007]
PLEASE HELP
gj, but I don't really care. If I come in a thread and find that there are 20 new pages of content and can't find any relevant news in the last 2, I prefer to ask and not get an answer, than lose my time and search around for info about a porn game that I was not even pledging. I'm sorry that this bothers you, but I value my time and nobody is forced to respond to my questions.Me too, but I try to be as I keep up and do not ask 20 or 30 the same question for the first time
plenty of fundraisers give gifts to people that donate money, so getting something in return for donating doesn't make it a subscription. the big difference between the two is an obligation to provide something in return for the money. with a donation their no obligation to deliver anything, with a subscription their is a clear thing you are obtaining. in the end it has to do with advertising, in that if something is promised in return for a given amount then it is a subscription. so the reward tiers might make it into a subscription based on wording. before patreon stepped in they did give away the game for free, just not the most recent version. this makes it hard to argue that it is a subscription and thus nothing of tangible value was promised, though adhering to patreon they made it easier to argue that it is a subscription, and thus meant that they were selling porn. by selling porn there are certain obligations that need to be met by law in different states (let alone different countries), and makes it easy to claim that the ban was needed. so doing something that seemed mundane helped to propagate the censorship. of course no sort of age gate on pornographic material is a problem as well, though one that isn't really enforced anymore. there were ways patreon could have handled the situation to ensure things didn't have issues, but they didn't handle it well. if you know what is going on then it wouldn't be surprising to see more adult games getting banned in the future.Well that`s true, on the other hand you can`t get the game without pledging(legally, not pirating). So it`s kinda buying the game itself, it`s not all black and white to be fair... Supporting the dev would be the donation system for a game that he gives out for free, not this whole patreon thing. And this is more on a general level, not just DS/BB:
I`m no dev, I don`t really know what goes on in making a game, but: Why would someone need employees, as long as they take 1 month for an update which contains... let`s say 150 images. You, as a creator, allready know the story and how you want to put it, story wise it would not take that much time to write the update. There are not even that many "lines" to write. Do you really need almost a month for coding and rendering 150 images? Maybe if you`re alone...
When you add employees I would expect updates more often, or the monthy updates to be actually big, not the same as before. I really do feel like most creators are just looking to take as much money for the longest time possible, not actually doing/finishing something worthy, that him and his fans would be fond of.![]()
