Locked chests have a very big selection of items which can drop. What's better is really vague as it depends on what you yourself are actually looking for.

Can you provide a screenshot? It might be possible that there is a bug, so I will know which plant to look at.
You can also just grind Quartz into it using Mortar&Pestle.

I am not 100% sure what you're asking here. But if the question was whether the Mimic drops a special equipment item, then yes she does, it's a 5% chance and the Item is an accessory called "Mimic Bead".
Those recipes only appear if you have the required items. For example, if you use the Tanning Knife, and you have Rat, Wolf, Pyrodon Pelts, then there will be recipes to turn them into Leather. The recipes only appear if you have the required items while using the specific Processing equipment, such as a Forge, Mortar&Pestle, Tanning Knife, etc...
I don't fully understand this question. But if you mean stuff like "Alchemist's Will" then it gives +1 to Will Power points. So if your max was 100, taking that will give you a maximum of 101 permanently.
There is better equipment, it's made from Mithril and Silver, but you have to craft it yourself. To create Silver and Mithril Ingots you will need a Thunder Forge, which you need to craft as well as special Alchemy Potions.

Thunder Forge appears in the recipe list once you reach Level 2 Smithing or Level 2 Artifice, then you can craft it at their respective crafting stations.

Combo experience is exp to increase your perception and its related skills. The only way to get combo exp is you combine crafting exp(100 i think) and martial exp to get 100 combo exp.

As RohanRider said, you use it to Level Up your Perception Skill and its Specialisations such as "Trap Sense", "Enemy Sense", etc, which helps you see traps and enemies.

They can be told to wear them and it changes their sprite, so you can have a whole village of Goblin Girls in Dresses instead of Armour. They may refuse to do so though if your reputation is low.
Algae can appear near water only.
Alchemy can be done at Aria's work benches if you don't have your own work bench, but you will need to be at least friends with her to do so.
