If you want to understand the story better and have the second game have a stronger impact on you then yeah, it's not mandatory or anything but it's recommend.

Nope. Played BS2 into BS1 basicly. Was hooked with bs2 gameplay, mystery shinigans and then give try to bs1 (even if art was not my cup of tea at all, also heard what gameplay is worser and it actually worser).
Most of info in those secret endings from bs1, is revealed in bs2 just from dialogs with some bitch in queensland prison.
For the love of degeneracy. Do not ruin your own experience(narrative) by playing BS2 before BS1.
People might make the wrong assumption & think of it as another run of the mill ero game with souls elements.
BlackSouls is a story driven game.
BS1 revovles around you trying to solve the mystery of the world and characters around you.
Spoiling yourself by jumping into BS2 and then 1 breaks the whole twist about the journey.

tbh I think the games work in any order. With how cryptic and fucked up these games are, you can play them in any order and be left wondering what in the goddamn. I played 2 before 1 and played 1 because I wanted to know what in the hell happened before 2.

No, they don't. BS2 spoils a lot of things about BS1 and one of them is literally the whole plot, you don't enjoy the whole experience if you know what happens and what is coming, is simply pointless.

I think what they meant was, you can enjoy BS2 without BS1 because it doesn't required to complete BS1 to actually progress. Though you'd be left wondering who's some of character was but i think aside Mary and Red Hood or Miranda most of them is just reference in BS2.
But to actually get the full picture of the story and timeline you'll need to play BS1 first cuz the plot is relevant to one of the most important bit of the overall story and your character.
The only game i would agree on is RRW because its Toros first game and much more experimental in nature.
Blacksouls on the other hand. You can only experience your journey once. The first impact of the twist. The first time you see certain character scenes. Even the first time you go outside the forest sanctuary and either ask yourself is this forest a garbage dump or the dev lazy. The way you consume your media certainly changes your outlook towards it. Of course no one can force you to do anything. So if you play the sequel game first and the original one later its your choice.
But the best experience from my anecdotal pov is you should play BS1 into BS2 like a SEN person would do.
The questions you have inside your mind after finishing BS1 and exploring BS2 or rather being thrown into it are vastly different. If you go into BS2 & then BS1 a lot of the mystery and twist are simply solved already
I dont preach a lot but this is a point i can only say comes from heart. Please dont sabotage your own journey like that.
So with every game Toro has made, some story stuff or character stuff has been rettconned with DLC or later games. The first game of Toro being Reds is not needed to play other then it sums up why she is so indifferent to sex and why is Poro with her. BS1 is required to understand 2 with returning characters and plot points as well they reference ending D especially Leaf.

It's an amazing game. Honestly, one of my favorite games, if not my favorite game.
Gameplay, scenes and story, everything is great and immersive, even more so for an RPG maker.

Saw it in my recommended and was playing the game as to not get spoiled. No I didn't play 2 yet despite following the thread and dodging spoilers here. Will get back to you on this...
