as a fellow soulslike fan, please don't lump us all together, or at least me, while i do like the challenge those games provide, i expect the challenge to come from outmaneuvering the enemies, not bullshit grinding and making things annoyingly difficult for the sake of being difficult.

otherwise i totally agree, that grind is just needlessly extending the gameplay, and besides, i like to spend my time turning this game into a genetics simulator to see what color variants come out of all that breeding. wish i could save some of those as a preset.
WHAT challenge? button input delay? intentionally poorly balanced combat to cut corners for game production? janky and low effort world building and lore? it's literally all the same. As with fortnite and the whole br scene, it's a genre whose only concern is how much money they can save by manipulating and deceiving gamers by hiding the fact that they put as little effort into the game as possible to comply with what meagre regulations there are out there.

You wanna like low par stuff? fine, we all have our likes and dislikes. But don't go calling a game like dark souls or its genre challenging. It's an insult to all the quality games out there.

well you sure don't like the Soulslikes, but why didn't you provide us with a quality game that fits your criteria of challenging? can't be a game like Division whose idea of challenge is giving the enemy increased health and damage while you keep your peashooter. or the GTA heists where the enemies just straight up use aimbot.

WHAT is a challenge? thats my question. what is considered a high-quality challenge that everyone could enjoy, and what makes it challenging?

and besides, call the way soulslikes are build as cheap as you like, at least those games don't fill their game with microtransactions and FOMO bullshit like fortnite does.

Bosses in fromsoft games have insane health and high status effect resistances. Not really any different than the game you are comparing them to.
or the GTA heists where the enemies just straight up use aimbot.

A challenge is anything that is fairly hard as long as player isn't nerfed by design for the sake of difficulty.
Fair is term I see so many fromsoft fans use while trying to justify arficial difficulty in fromsoft games.
They always say "they're hard but fair!". This is not even close to being true.
See metal gear rising's boss fights, if players die it is entirely their fault, enemies are easy to read, no bs near instant attacks, no bs delayed attacks to gamble dodge/parry, no 360 degree homing attacks, bosses don't have bloated health.
Player character isn't "restricted" in anyway to make fights artificially harder, no accidentally falling to death, no unforeseable environmental traps, no bs skills such as malenia's hp steal even when her attacks are blocked.
In any souls game, player character moves like a how a zombie would move in a zombie game, slow and clunky af even when not carrying any weight, meanwhile all enemies have movesets ranging from flying attacks, near instant fast attacks, jumping attacks, delayed attacks etc.
If I'm expected to fight all those enemies, I better have atleast equally as fast movesets but no, fromsoft just loves to artificially up the difficulty and fans just eat that shit up because muh difficulty.
Oh, did I mention that enemies in souls games have massive aoe attacks, including poison clouds that deny player's ability to move even more, as if player's having a clunky moveset isn't enough to up the difficulty? Because they do have those abilities, fuck the player, am I right?
That's all coming from someone who finished all recent souls games, including sekiro.

The funny thing is that they never give legit examples of what is actually an unfair challenge when praising soulslikes and they do the so call "unfairness" of those games is exactly what every begginer at the soulslikes feels. Except they're not up to deal with that BS. Not to mention that if the challengue thing they claimed were true, ANY game, even the easiest ones can have a challenge if the player is up to that but it takes a special mental resistance to not fail those, doing something as simple as roleplaying.

A challenge should be somethinf that from minute 1 you can outmaneuver by knowing the options you have and having minimal unknown threats so you have time to adapt. But that time being extremely short. Not taking fricking ages like I see soulslikes being. Is kinda like that meme.

"When it starts raining a lot of people pull an umbrella while soulslike fans trying to dodge every rain drop by learning its patterns and phasing through the storm". It would be so damn cool if people could give a shit on why do you even put yourself to do something so factually impractical, time wasting and exhausting for such little benefit.

Having to learn the precise attack pattern of something like a dual wielding mega troper that can stunlock you if your unlucky enough to being attacked by it while other enemy is around is super BS. Trying to do something like beating Minecraft without using something as key as a Crafting Table, THAT is a challengue. Quite tough that but Ill say doable.

well i asked a question and got a satisfying answer, i'm also done with the discussion, we are here to discuss a porn game, not if soulslike games are a good game. hell. only play those games for fun anyway.

it's just. way too many people deride a game as complete crap when in truth it just wasn't their type of game, this is something that just rubs me the wrong way. i don't like MOBA-type games or Battle-Royale, but you don't see me calling it the worst invention on earth. And i agree with you guys on one thing, Malenia is one of the worst bosses i've faced in Elden Ring, i hate that HP Steal.

let's just get back to discussin' the farm game here. i really aren't in the mood to discuss if Soulslikes are good or not. i say it's a matter of taste and patience and be done with that.

Yeah putting Soulslikes and game hardness aside. One thing I still like for this game but now mostly because how much it sort of changed its feel is the vagrant system. Having a custom set family of nephs to roam on the Homestead amd be able to fuck most of them like if its Wild Sex is amazing, specially for female on female characters :3

Ooh, i like the Vagrant system too. i use it more to parade around my personal favorites, but it's always nice to see a wild-sex scene on a species that normally is too small or big for it.

*sigh* with that controversy around i can only really hope that the game gets finished or at least gets a coherent progression system and lore build in, ever since the flavor text from the various milk and semen went missing the worldbuilding feels empty.
like, yeah, theres that underwater kingdom around, and the world is made by that goddess and all. but it's more, how do i call it, local lore, what about the species roaming around? sure, the NPCs drop a few infos about some monsters, like that despite their huge size the titans aren't the real leaders of the mountains.

quite frankly, i just want the flavor texts back to make the world feel a tad more alive, yes i know it's a porn game with its primary focus being to get a nut off, but if the game bothers to make a story then i want to get to know the world and it's setting better. or at the very least, add in a NPC or monster-encyclopedia book that contains lore and other tidbits about the monster. Maybe even insert what type of liquid is effective for taming which nephelym. so we don't have to guess or consult the wiki.

I can't find a botn.exe, i only see OBF.exe, where do i fine botn.exe
For what purpose? Trying to mod in incest?
You do not need the incest patcher anymore.
Here's how:

1) Make sure you can see file extensions (google it for your operating system)
2) In the OBF folder, create a blank text file and name it imma.degenerate so now it should read imma.degenerate.txt
3) Delete the .txt extension and confirm it when it asks.

That's it! Nothing more is needed for incest patching malarkey in this version.

I still don't understand the pointlessly massive map in this game, with absolutely nothing on it. It's been like this since early versions of the game. If you could run into random Nephelym just wandering around, and/or there was combat with treasures and items to find, then sure. But everything just comes out of magic gates in a few designated areas, while the rest of the map is totally useless. Once you move any from those gates everything interesting just despawns. It's not even a poor 'padding' mechanic at this point, it's just a leftover from early game planning that the dev doesn't want to give up.

Also it's 2022 and there's still no sprint toggle. You know what's more annoying than having to roam a giant empty map? Having hold down the shift key while romaing a giant map.
