is there a male human character?
Perhaps in June, according to that one roadmap. Though looking at the dev's ideas on monetization, I'd half expect that update to come out after the next steam build just so people can pay up for a subscribtion or wait until September.

I wouldn't be surprised. The June update for Steam is likely to be the first update of the month, which is available for the $10 avatar tier on Patreon. They have a tendency to save big things for the second update, which is available to the $20 Ascended tier.

Yeah, I got screwed by several devs on steam, never again will I pay so much for an unfinished product sold by an indie dev, maybe most devs are honnest but some others are just seeing steam early access as easy cash grab, will vanish with your money and you end up with something that does not even qualify as a game half the time...
It's really terrible, even more if, like me, you can't afford to throw money out the window.

and how do we find it
just visit this site everyday and look for new "games" or post on another forum this plan is not bad we just need to think how we FIND it and make sure those paywall devs wont get us litte secret.

The problem is we CANT post it here we dont know who will be dev and who not, best way Is give link to the game all who complain about paywall I know its sound stupid but I have no more idea cause we cant verificate who Is dev who Is not also good idea Is post the game on not popular site where are few ppl become to download It.

The second and best solution Is find the data(In game folder) where are save information about with patron post It.

Team Carnal posted a to the Steam page. Not copying it here because it's only locked behind an age gate rather than a paywall.
If it's not too much trouble, could you (or anyone else, really) copy it anyway for the people who currently have BS legal disputes over porn games locally and don't want to mess around too much with VPN and their Steam account?

Ah, that's a fair point. Here you go:

(Note: I killed their discord links. I've been doing the same for the launcher download links, but the discord links wound up being a double redirect, taking you through an F95Zone exit page and then a steam URL. Plus, I'm pretty sure it's a violation of steam policy to have them? I'd have to verify for news articles, but I know for a fact they're not allowed on store pages.)

Welcome everyone, to the first Steam Development Update post! We appreciate that it has been a while but we've been hard at work making the game.

Bear in mind that we're a team of five, but we're making big steps forward with all components of the project, from NPCs to narrative to mechanics and more. We can't yet specify when we anticipate the game leaving Early Access, but we'd estimate 12 - 18 months based on our initial scope alongside the content that players have requested and we've decided to implement.

That said, we're aware that the overall scope of the project is probably not your top priority right now so, without further delay, here's what you can expect in the first content update when it arrives in June...

NEW CONTENT - JUNE 2021

There is a wealth of content coming to Steam in the June Content Update, from quests to genitals, combat upgrades to new adult scenes.

ADULT SCENES

It wouldn't really be a real update without new adult content now would it? There's a wide range to choose from and remember what they say - variety is the spice of... wait, is that giant snake girl about to suck my d*ck?

New sex scenes coming to Steam in June include...

  • Concubine Face-Sitting
Lay down and let her take control. That's it, now get to work...
  • Concubine Table F*ck
It's your turn to sit on the table and spread your legs for a well endowed Felian.
  • Draconid Missionary
Make love to a Dragon girl in a more passionate, tender encounter.
  • Draconid Scissoring
Grind your body against that of a sexually frustrated Dragon girl, desperate for release.
  • Naga Blowjob
This serpent knows what she wants and she's going to milk every drop.
  • Naga in Heat
It's risky to enter a Naga's cage, riskier still to enter her...
  • Void Orgy
Three's company, four's a good time. Explore your otherworldly desires with a trio of demonic entities.

NEW BODY, HEADS, & SKINS

It's not just about who you're having sex with, but how you look whilst you're doing it. The June Content Update brings multiple new species options into play...

  • Human Head (Female)
Not a fan of wandering the dunes with an animal head? Well this is the option for you. Exactly what it sounds like, Humans are entering Sabu! (Males to follow in subsequent content update).
  • Void Spirit
Give in to the call of The Void and don the appearance of a Void Spirit. This demonic form ripples with erotic energy (and animated effects).
  • Scales of the Lapis Drake
The scalie players were short of options, now they can adopt the brilliant blue scales of this rare Draconid subtype.

MANHOODS, MEMBERS, BONERS, & DONGS

Here at Carnal Instinct we like players to have a say in all things, especially the content's of one's underwear. You could say that we like girthy, throbbing choices and big, knotted options. Speaking of things that'll leave you walking funny, here's what new genitals are coming in June...

  • Maned Felian Manhood
If you felt the human/cat hybrid genitals were 'too vanilla' then this is the member for you. Very thick at the base and barbed at the end of its tapered tip, a must-have for fans of all things feline.
  • Royal Jackal Manhood
Find those human/wolf hybrid genitals to be a bit stylised for your tastes? Wish they were more accurate to the real world? Look no further than this bad good boy.
  • Naga Manhood
Is that a python in your pants or are you just pleased to... oh... oh my god!
  • Void Titan Manhood
A normally proportioned, void-themed member that appears to belong on a much, much larger creature.

We don't know if we're allowed this here so we'll just have to give you this beautiful mosaic...

COSMETIC OPTIONS & EQUIPMENT

As we start to further develop the RPG component of this Adult ARPG, we've increased the number of weapons and cosmetics for you to make use of.

New Equipment includes...

  • Inquisitor Garb
Clad yourself in the skirt and neckwear of a zealot, though you'll have to get your hands on it first.
  • Inquisitor Helm
Nothing says "I'll kill you and all the other followers of that damned Jackal!" like this sexy gold and obsidian number from the Inquisitors of Bast.
  • Ornate Bronze Spear
The lethality of this ancient weapon has not been dulled by the passage of time. As Sun Tzu once said: poke them with the pointy end.
  • Void Infused Khopesh
This jagged, blade is made from splintered shards of glowing rock that somehow drift here and there yet maintain the shape of a blade even as they hang in the air.

STORY QUESTS

We're beyond the prototype quests and making our first footsteps into the main story arc of the game. Whilst our true 'introductory' quest isn't yet in the game, we've jumped into the thick of things with quests that will begin to unravel the secrets of the world and pit you against powerful enemies.

New Story Quests coming to Steam in June include...
  • Milk & Honey
Anubite Adepts will set you forth to walk the 'Path of the Jackal' but in serving the will of Anubis you will attract the unwanted attention of an ancient order that seeks his undoing.
  • Diamond in the Rough
The High Priestess at the temple will not speak with you, but her attendant Nepthys suggests a way to earn her trust. The catch? You must travel to the vast tomb of a long-dead god and face the evil that lurks beneath the sands.
  • Tales of the Void
A lone survivor escapes alive from exploring an ancient and forgotten tomb. The titanic guardian of the tomb is invulnerable to mortal weapons. You must seek the help of those that dwell in The Void, the space between spaces, if you are to defeat it.

MINI-BOSS FIGHTS

The enemies too have got an upgrade, aside from general improvements with the rank and file mobs, June brings two new Mini-bosses for you to tussle with...

  • The Inquisitor Of Bast
An Inquisitor of Bast is a zealot among zealots. Standing for the teachings of the Cat Goddess Bast, Inquisitors swing their huge blades in a whirling dance of righteous fury. For now the only option is to kill or be killed, though the future holds many possibilities...
  • The Tomb Guardian
All that is known of this hulking horror is that it lurks in the dark halls of the Tomb of the Ascended, the last resting place of countless Demigods. The earth trembles with its footfalls and the ancient chambers echo with the cries of its dying victims. This challenge will not be for the feint of heart

NEW NPCS

The world of Sabu is growing more detailed and fleshed out, with a range of new NPCs. Some you can
get to know more intimately, others you'll "interact" with later in the main quest.

  • Crocodile [Anthro]
Like her mistress The High Priestess, the Priestess' Attendant Nepthys is a crocodile. Intended to have an adult scene, Nepthys is unable to indulge the players' desire until later in the main quest arc. For now she's fully voice-acted and can tell you of the history of Sabu, among other things.
  • Centaur [Zebra Skin]
The typical race of Centaur to be found in Sabu, though still relatively rare. Currently not 'rideable'.
  • Naga [Dune Cobra Skin]
The most common type of Naga found in Sabu, give her a chance and she'll completely drain you.
  • Naga [Mountain Cobra Skin]
An elusive subtype of Naga, found mostly in the ruins. You'll have to merely undress her with your eyes... wait she's a snake. Shed her skin maybe? Whatever, she doesn't have a scene yet!
  • Naga [Coral Cobra Skin]
Beautiful but deadly, this magnificent creature will eagerly welcome you to her cage, though she may be less willing to let you leave... at least not until she's utterly satisfied.
  • Void Spirit
Not only can you look like this demonic seductress, but you can also discuss poetry and fine art with her. Okay, you got me! You can f*ck her... in zero gravity... with her friends.

EXPANDED WORLDMAP & NEW QUEST TRACKING

The new enemies, NPCS, and quests all needed somewhere to go, so the world has expanded significantly. To the south now lay many new areas to explore and enemies to fight, a fallen town and ancient ruins located here may hold the key to the delights of The Void. This new area is build on the forgotten burial chambers that mark the Tomb of the Ascended, a zone that will first become available in June but that will continue to expand over time.

Existing sections of the world have also become more detailed, with empty dunes giving way to partially collapsed Tombs, extensive cave networks, and other secrets of the desert. Large sections have been reworked, both for ease of navigation and to support the new quests.

The map interaction has also been upgraded so it should be easier to tell where you are. Add to this the new quest tracking that we've implemented and it should be way easier to tell where your going, and what exactly you need to do in order to
rid Sabu of tyranny get hot and heavy with that snake chick.

UPDATE SCHEDULE & PLAYTEST CONTENT

There has been a lot of confusion as to when/how the update schedule will work between crowdfunded playtest builds and the Steam version of Carnal Instinct. Likewise, some misinformation has been doing the rounds that we feel needs dispelling.

Due to the Steam T&Cs we cannot delve too far into the specifics of the funded playtest builds on this platform, however you are more than welcome to join our Discord server. We're entirely open about our development model and more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

What we can say is that we're a small team and we rely on the controlled, monthly playtests to test content, provide initial feedback, and attempt hotfixes. This is not to say we'll never reach the point that this is synchronous with Steam, but currently it's not feasible for our team size.

We had to choose between the updates being small & frequent or substantial & stable. Our team is split down the middle on which model we prefer as gamers, so we opted for the best of both worlds and provided both options across the available platforms. As a Steam user you will get access to all major content updates in the most stable state available.

With a minimum of 4 major content updates annually, Carnal Instinct is substantially in advance of most Early Access titles on Steam and even ahead of some crowdfunded update schedules. If you're interested in what content is being developed over the coming months check out our roadmap below. Please note that this is subject to change as the team is about to become full-time on the project and therefore we'll be expanding the contents of the roadmap to match our new capacity.

WHAT NEXT?

As you can see from the roadmap, we've got a lot of work to do between now and the Q3 update! In the meantime we'll be aiming to go above and beyond expectations, especially with suggestions made by players. So, if you want to participate in discussions about the game, see the latest content going to playtest, get help with quests, share some smut, or report issues, then why not join our Discord server.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the project - each and every one of you have helped to make this lewd, crazy, amazing dream possible. We will continue to work, day and night, to make Carnal Instinct the best it can be. To every single person who has seen the spark of potential in this game, there is an exciting path ahead of us yet, with plenty of lewdness along the way, we hope you'll continue to walk with us on this incredible journey.

Also I've been on the steam page version of the game and people are starting to get frustrated by the "lack" of updates. (last update march 11th 2021)

Developer, if you're reading this it's rly NOT a good idea. To release a game on steam and ask 25 euro for a product that doesn't live up to the hype around it. Mainly the lack of UPDATES. You guys are releasing atleast 3 versions a month don't you think that atleast one "monthly" update would do? Welp, you're undermining yourself right there.

...

but when I saw the ONLY UPDATE OF THE GAME AND IT WAS A FUCKING 2 MONTHS AGO I've withdrawed immediately.
Dev here. What we've seen is a lot of people getting angry because there is content which exists but isn't available on the Steam build. What you will notice by reading back through this thread, is that shortly after release the content is very buggy. We're a team of 5, so it's not feasible for us to make a large volume of content and spend hundreds of hours playtesting every month.

We release two playtest versions per month, not three as you've stated. If we released content "every month" on steam - as you say we should - reviews would still be hugely negative but instead of "wtf devs scam no updates" they'd instead read "wtf devs broken buggy mess". You realise that it's really normal for a game to only get content updates every few months, right? We released two hotfixes in the first month and we have a major update coming to Steam in June.

It's also worth noting that we had a really passive approach to reporting content here, but it was uploaded seconds after releasing on Patreon and became the highest result on Google. We were bombarded with DMs from supporters saying it was harder to find the paid content than the pirate copy. We literally cannot make the game if our primary market is subverted so catastrophically - bear in mind that for all the "cash squeeze" comments, we have only now crossed the line where CI is paying its developers a living.

I have personally pirated games in the past, I know it's necessary for some people - if a product is of questionable quality or just too expensive for your budget. I'm also not above owning up to mistakes, and our aggressive reaction may have been one of those.

So yeah have fun with your "dumpsterfire" which is getting bigger and bigger, you cannot see it, but when that happens your "fire control" won't do at all.
I hope not. If we were the scam devs everyone is making us out to be we'd be long gone. I've published several games on Steam and the truth is that the bulk of income, the overwhelming majority, is in the first month or so. We've made that money - if we were scammers there'd be no update posts, instead we'd be long gone. But we're here, using that money to fund us in churning out content and bugfixes; we're here to make the game the best it can be.

There will be 'enslave' options once the camp is implemented. We're working on a consent option too, for players to consent to things that their character may not (i.e. defeat scenes). But there's going to be no forced victory content. We're still considering how "oh no, you overpowered me... what a shame" scenes would function though, so that's a 'yes, if we can work out how we'd like them to work'.

Am I the only one that are consuming the urns but, sometimes, no item is found?
There is one urn in the version on this thread that has no popup but gives you an item anyway. Specifically, the one in the underground crypt where you fight a miniboss to get the horse penis. If that's the one you're talking about, it gives you the Wild Dragonic Form.

On the other hand, the void temple thingy in the current v1.74 appears to have an urn that actually does do nothing.

Fair enough but you could've put this as a disclaimer on the front page so people are made aware of the situation first hand and don't rage about it.
