Because people love their waifus and some will shank a bitch if they dirty their body pillow :sneaky:
realistically doesn't even have to be that. while i have no doubt this is also what is happening here what i think (based on relative civility of the backlash) its that people formed a connection with the character (emotional or otherwise) witch is a great sign of quality writing. what the problem may end up being is that it was an off genre thing which tend to be a hit or miss (think a comedic moment in a tragedy it may humanize the characters an give a stark contrast to the sad and somber themes, or it could break any investment and invalidate the entire piece). personally i'm still unsure of weather it will end up being good or not and will probably wait for the content to have a synopsis before continuing. not sure.

Does the dev release just the updated content so we don't have to download yet another 6gb+?

You can either download the compressed verson (around 1 GB) or you can use the cor installer for downloading update only.
I will just list the difference of both versions here

Compressed version
Compressed version is <1GB. Everytime there is a new update you need to download whole zip again. In case of bugfixes, you need to manually include the fixes by going to the specified file paths.

Installer version (not applicable for Android; Mac and Linux machines needs to use Wine application to make this to be supported)
It only installs 6GB+ uncompressed version. On first installation it downloads whole 6+GB game. After that everytime there is a new update all you need to do is run the verify integrity check and it will update the new files and updates files (so from second time the download size is likely around <2GB (rarely upto 2.5GB), because it won't download same non-updated files again). Also bug fixes are more frequently updated in this version, compared to non-installer version. Just like mentioned on one of the other threads the cor installer can be a bit laggy on the days on public release, because of high traffic, they are still working on fixing that. But once the first few hours are done, they do go back to working at normal speed.

For Oste in need I am stuck at "will isabel have made her choice go see her at noon." and it won't let me trigger an event. it says more content will be unlocked when she becomes a main under her profile but for the quest help it doesn't say not implemented yet for the last part of her quest.

Haven't played this is in a while. The writing is excellent and the characters all have their own distinguishables which makes them all likeable in their own way. I like how they are now starting to be asked to be contribute to events. One thing that really surprised was the shocking turn that the plot took. Did not see it coming.

I haven't played since 0.60 and now loading my save gets me some message about a missing audio file

So I tried a save from right before starting step 4 of "The cat's out out of the bag..." but now the alarms are "not defined" and clicking on Isabelle's card in the Girl's menu gets me this traceback:
Code:
I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

While loading <'Image' u'gui/cards/Card.png'>:
IOError: Couldn't find file 'gui/cards/Card.png'.
