That being said though, I think the MC that trusts Mallory so much is making a mistake. Her showing up is suspicious as it is, but from a business stand point it's beyond retarded. What multibillion corporation is going to give a wacky journalist that talks to herself and has suspicious history a full access to their database?

It puts her from nobody to Lisa's level (you know the actual CEO of the company for many years, seeing that she also worked for Sarah and James) in like a time period of two weeks. I would have understood if Lisa was also present in the decision making with MC and Jaye, seeing that it makes sense. I hope they aren't going to make Mallory participate in the company decision making in the future with George, MC and Jaye.
In my opinion, as Mallory is so crucial to the story, she won't be a hostile threat actor.

you are both right.

from the perspective of the game SAFELY Mallory would not hurt MC, especially by aprofiting his trust if he treats her well.

but from a story perspective, it is unbelievable that mc, who has just lost the parents under mysterious circumstances, with the family business in the midst of a court battle, would completely trust a reporter he just met. if that happened in reality george would have him interdicted

Jaye, Lisa and Quinn seem to be using the same facial model, albeit heavily modified so they aren't absolutely identical to each other. Certainly it's not like the LI's in University of Problems, in which all LI's use the same facial model, with just different hair color and haircuts, and you have like 7 LI's so it gets annoying at one point when they all look like each other.

Kentyrr mentioned once that he started Jaye with the Casey Reed preset but ended up modifying it so much with parts from Victoria 8.1, so it ended up something extraordinarily unique.

But if we have to compare Jaye, Lisa and Quinn, Quinn is easily the worst of the three. Her head is ridiculously oversized compared to her body and the drug withdrawal junkie look certainly doesn't help. :Kappa:

But back to the topic of Lisa and Quinn - Lisa is like CEO Quinn, without the daddy, drug or prostitution issues. :Kappa:

Lisa/Quinn's is by far one of the most widely used models, but aprespective of the taste of the various versions Lisa's is a fairly "vanilla" version, with few changes from the original model.

just as an example: Jessica who is a secondary character from Second Chance

I never said that I expect Mallory to betray the MC. I just find it to be ridiculous that she's being given so much trust in such a short period of time while the company is in a court battle and still have battles to fight.

I wonder if there will be drastic consequences if we don't trust her and don't give her full access to the database.

if you have no concerns about her behavior why shouldn't you trust her?

You either trust her or you don't.

time frames in these games are always very tight

That's my first reaction when I saw the choices on giving Mallory access or not. Like, if she wasn't appearing in the end of every chapter with Jaye in that screen that makes her seem like a MG, I think few would trust Mallory at giving her top-level access to the company's databases. Heck, I only trusted her because of the post-chapter screen.

From a realistic standpoint, trusting and giving Mallory access is still nonsensical.
You could argue that they had time to bond before that point, but still I think it's stupid to trust someone you just met days or weeks ago.

In my opinion, besides the short time they know each other what creates a big problem is the situation they are in.

MC, George and Jaye know that Prizer is on to them, they have already played dirty. and Mallory even if she was not in any way connected to Prizer, she is a journalist!!!! the last person in the world you would want to share industrial secrets with at such a sensitive time

Call it a gut feeling. My gut tells me that I shouldn't trust her. And I tend to go with my gut feeling. The reveal that she is a Sarah clone gives us reasons to trust her, as we have an overall idea what Sarah was like as a person.

The point I tried to make was I really hope they don't make Mallory being a shot caller in the company just because she is Sarah clone. It makes sense MC, Jaye, George and Lisa being people who call the shots, but Mallory being a journalist who showed up out of nowhere and suddenly is a part of the Board of Directors say in like, a month after meeting MC and Jaye, would be just bad writing.

I think if they find a way to justify her calling the shots, for example Mallory also got Sarah's intellect, I think I would be fine with that.
I just need a justification and we're good to go.

But didn't we already move on from the plot point of Mallory being a mere journalist? Her ulterior motive has already been exposed with her being a clone of Sarah. There's nothing secretive about her anymore and the plot is now about how fucking a clone of your mom could be weird.

Yeah, but I'd rather have her not being involved in the shot calling. Maybe as an advisor would make more sense (like George for example), but having her overruling George or Lisa's decisions would be annoying.

I worked at a company that had multiple layers of management before and going up the ladder is especially difficult. I got to the point where I was a Project Manager and I still had to report to the Department Head and General Manager. They in turn had to report to the Department Vice President and President, who in turn reported to the CEO, Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Board.

My jump from Project Specialist to Project Manager took about 5 years (PS>Junior Manager>Senior Manager>Project Manager), and I probably still had to go 3-5 years more to get to being the Department Head and even more until I got to the GM position. Getting promoted beyond that point is incredibly difficult, you have to have great connections and company backing to even get to the VP position.

The point is for Mallory to go from nobody to an executive position in like 2 months is beyond unrealistic.

the end-of-chapter screen is enough for us to know that we can trust Mallory :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: , but the game asks us to trust her practically from the beginning, in the before the revelations about her strange genome :giggle:

Things are moving along again after a bit of a workflow disruption. Kentyrr typically does the scene building and posing on his rig, and in turn, I render them since writing and coding doesn't require a ton of GPU, and leaves him free to do his bit.

Early last week, I began migrating my development rig into a bigger case with better cooling. The process has taken a bit longer than expected, so there is a bit of a backlog on artwork rendering. Renders in the first few scenes are taking unusually long as well.

This all sounds bad, but it's not. My last touches on the rebuilt rig were completed yesterday, and I'm rendering around the clock. Over the next few weeks, the backlog will be absorbed and I'll be waiting on new art again.

While this doesn't impact the development cycle timeline, it has sidetracked me on a few things I've been wanting to make progress on, including language localization (so we can support multiple languages) and codebase collapse. After giving Kent enough dialogue to keep him occupied for a few weeks, that will be my focus.

We're beginning on the fourth scene now, and hopefully we'll begin to see render times come down.

For those of you who are interested, I thought I'd give you a little insight into what your patronage has done:

When we began Chasing Sunsets, Kent was running a single watercooled GeForce 1080ti GPU, and I was running a single aircooled 2080ti GPU on a Ryzen 3600X.

Since then, we have put about 75% of our Patreon pledges back into the project in some way, shape, or form:
We have:
  • Both upgraded our development rigs to state-of-the-art
  • Formed a business partnership (and some friends for life)
  • Met (virtually) some of our AVN heroes (Drifty, STWADev, CNG, Naughty Captain, Xor, and many more)
  • Filed a copyright
  • Purchased countless instances of art and music
  • Contracted out for 3D object assets and animation
  • Launched on Steam
Much of this would not have been possible without you. Kent is nearly at the point where he can begin looking at doing this full time, and if the trend continues, I may be able to as well for a second game. It's beyond anything we ever dreamed that this might transition from a hobby to our livelihood!

"Do what you love and you'll never work another day of your life."

With that said, as the conclusion of Jaye and MC's story begins to slip into view, I thought we'd take a moment and poll you all for what kind of game we should do next.

I will follow up with a poll on the setting and theme for our next game in our next update.

*Note - This simply informs our decision making process, and will not necessarily determine what we choose to do next.

1. Story driven, sexy with romance elements (Keep doing what you're doing)

2. Porn-heavy, less story

3. Female protag / Corruption

4. Harem/Godmode Smashfest

5. Other (Comment below)

As of the posting of this reply, the poll is currently looking like this

1. 88%
2. 0%
3. 5%
4. 5%
5. 1%

Is it not possible to do a combination of 1 and the harem part of 4?

Seriously, this girl slowly but surely becomes one of my all time favourites, I just can't get enough of her wacko personality. :) Too bad she is just a side girl. Eats both main LIs alive in style.
I just hope she's more optional next time. I understand why some people love Amanda but I did not, and her antics aren't the sort that can be easily overlooked if you don't find them amusing. It would be very depressing to break up with Mallory because her friend won't stop being an obnoxious jerk. :(

If you're asking if the devs could make it work in their story; then it's possible, but ultimately up to them. If you're asking if you can vote for both then, no you can't

I have two questions about the game. the game takes mallory and jaye as love interests? Is there any way to be loyal to one of them or that can only be done by damaging the love and trust points of the other? Thanks
