That's so wrong... Why help a dev when he's almost done with the game? that's not really helping. That's pay as little as possible to get the most possible. How does anyone know when a game will be near the end anyways? you really only know, when you've gotten there. games can get extended or cut short, there is never a real answer.

The fact you abandoned this game after 3 chapters is EXACTLY why people won't support you.

I was supporting you Darted and was very disappointed when you stopped developing the game.
If I remember , for 1$ we could have access to your game and I think it was why you didn't reach your money goal.
You didn't even try to resolve the situation with your supporters.. If you would have raised the 1$ to 3$ I am sure many would have accept.
Anyway I still hope you will come back and will happy to support you again.

I don't want to be rude, but from a customer pov a Ren'Py visual novel is not worth a recurring subscription no matter how much work went into it. Potential patrons would be supporting out of good will, but how much good will can there be, if the artist's/dev's entire body of work consists of a single unfinished or abandoned game?
Compare the output of porn game devs to the output of regular artists like painters or musician. It looks like porn game devs already have a head start on supporter's good will, because people want to get off.

And I can't speak for whether something is sustainable for a particular developer or not (everyone's situation is unique and needs vary quite a bit from person to person), but 8 months really isn't a sufficient time to gather enough momentum to make it in pretty much any business. It's said that people overestimate how successful their business will be in the first one or two years, and then they underestimate how successful it will be in years three through five. Momentum can reward entrepreneurs when they offer something people want, but they must have enough patience to weather the storms that inevitably come. There are many factors to make a business successful, but one of the biggest is persistence. Without that, you've already closed shop.

Making a VN is like working for tips. You aren't going to get anything if you don't put the food on the table and the longer you take the smaller the tip is going to be. A following is something that is built over time, like any customer base. A lot of times a first game won't be popular until it is finished, and the second game is the moneymaker. There is a right way and a wrong way to go about it, like the developer of Primal Instinct who abandoned their game and has refused to work on their follow-up game Heir Apparent until their "financial goal" is met. They are going to keep the food getting cold in the kitchen until they get their tip. Whatever you do, do the opposite of that. Work on your game when you can. Post updates and release them when you are ready. Patron support will fluctuate over time and you cannot rely on it. Get the first game done and the level of support on the second one will be more stable because you will have proven to the steady patrons that you have what it takes to finish what you started.

hey guys and girls, does anyone know a way or some people to help get funding back up and ready. he only left because he could not pay his bills as he is very passionate and we see it in the quality of his work. i commisiond a game idea of mine and he is gonna start on it. i miss yolanda, she is a great karakter in a world of cartoon futa and hentai (just not my style). so i would want to see how much we could raise with everbody here. i mean, i support 17 devs. but i could not miss that amount at first. but 200 people at 5 bucks is a thousend. higher earnes at 10 or 20. that shit adds up, but you need to relly love the game, and i know i do.
Keep me updated as to whether he comes back, I have my debit card ready.

Is there any chance this project will be revived or picked back up? Too much potential wasted.
IIRC the dev just wasn't making enough money for the project to be worth all the effort they put into it.
The market is pretty saturated these days so it's not uncommon for devs to run into this issue where after a year of effort they arn't even making 1k. It sucks but the amount of time game development takes has to have a return.
