why the fuck does this keep happening...
this is the 5th game in a row im interested in only for it to get canned after the initial release.

It's indeed a bummer. I hope some necromancer revives this game.
Some tip: I usually stop being attached to any games below v0.7.
Often devs get very creative and inspired at the start of the development. It gets them going for a month and then suddenly they might lose all motivation or life grabs you back to reality with less time to spare for development.
Not exactly necrophilia, but you might want to check Enslaver - Dark Path, Desert Stalker and Raptus.

The games that deal with really taboo subjects tend to struggle to survive because payment platforms boot them and people are less willing to support those devs. If I recall correctly, the team that made King of Corpses also works on another thing and the fans of that work get upset about King of Corpses, prompting its cancellation. It’s unfortunate, but at least we have some good taboo games in development still, like Raptus and The Personal Assistant - Blackheart Edition.

I came back to check in on the game just because the models looked so good. Do we know if they're working on other games?
As far as I know, no, they seem to have just quit making projects in general due to a lack of time or something.
Damn…another game left like that. I really wanted to know what would happen next. Maybe it's time to do like Thanos and do the "Fine, I'll do it myself" thing?

Hey everyone. It's me, FreckleRae - you may know me as the brain behind the game's central concept, as well as the model and scene artist, or from my art on Pixiv. I'm honestly also pretty damn heartbroken about the way this game went. It was honestly pretty nice for our first shot (at least I think), and we definitely garnered a thorough following. Unfortunately, life started a perfect shitstorm that made it hard to develop this with the team we had - no backups, no one to cover for anyone, and when availability fell apart, we had no one to program.
That said, I am just an artist and writer. My programming skills are.. well, nonexistent. But, I would really like to bring this game back. Give it a fresh coat of paint, complete with brand new models I even made. But we'll need your help. We're an even smaller team now, and we need people well-versed in Ren'Py, and decent at writing. This will be just volunteer work for now, but I hope you can very ironically help us revive this game about dead beauties. DM me on Discord - frecklerae - if you're interested.
Doubly on that note, no subscriptions or donations for now. We wanna make sure we can really stick with this baby this time before promising anything and going UWU for your money.

Also! This is on a poll on our Discord, but I'd like to also ask here - how would you like to experience Cold Comforts as a fully fledged game?
A. Pure sex. Inspections and necro sex are the main meat of the gameplay, with every other mechanic operating to support this straightforward gameplay loop. Sexytimes aplenty, but not much of a big narrative.
B. Story. There's overarching storylines surrounding the surreal circumstances and necrophiliac activities in the setting, with more focus on the characters. Sexytimes are intertwined more in a lengthier story with recurring characters.

But I guess people was also wondering if there was any branching from choices made and reappearance of characters who was "spared" and them somehow affecting the story later.
im on the same boat as faceless on this in terms of split between story and sex.
also how things were planned before seemed like a good solution to integrate all kinds of characters with differing appearances and personalities while allowing the story to flow differently depending on who lands on the table and who stays alive to interact with.
it also increases replay value and the demo was at least here well received.
I'm on B. I always more interested in stories and lore when it come to single player game even if it a porn. That said, holy shit! I though Rae herself would not be interested in this game anymore as your Pixiv page doesn't have any hints about creating necro game. Here hoping for a finished one from you.
