Oh and as someone who isn't a fan of the contrived nature of Harems I must say I am very skeptical of that... Hope that every woman doesn't immediately want to spread her legs for the MC and only him. However, I am giving you the benefit of my doubt.
Yeah, I've been on record saying this, but a harem at this point in time is just a plan, nothing more. I want it to make sense, if I do choose to go through with it. For me, it's not as simple as "I love him and you and I are friends so lets just share, right?" That's the common route harem games take.
These girls are their own characters. One act of kindness isn't gonna make them bow to his dick, their love for you and each other doesn't mean they're gonna accept sharing among each other and most importantly, they're not always gonna agree with you, even if your heart is in the right place. The MC isn't always right and his word isn't treated as gospel.
They will look out for each other, but that also means that their support and comfort may be misguided on occasion. It's a story about mistakes and I want that to take priority over the dream of a harem, though it
would be nice. Perhaps I can make it work, but I don't plan to sacrifice the worth of their characters for a wish-fulfillment thing. But it is something that I do want to achieve and make it work. If I can't, then there won't be a harem and I'll have the tag removed. Simple as that really.
That and I have a particular distaste for unavoidable sex scenes
Me too, but I also felt like I had to make a good first impression with some sex scenes. It's one of those traps new devs like myself fall into. Also, while I do dislike unavoidable scenes, I hate choices that boil down to "sex scene" vs "skip content".
It's part of why games like Pandora's Box don't really do it for me, cause that's all that game boils down to really. "Wanna see a sex scene? No? Okay, hold this 5 minute update with no scenes." Not to throw any shade at the game or the dev, but I just don't like it when that's all a update comes down to, so I opted to have them unavoidable.
Not to mention Ayana is the only character the MC knows and can readily fuck whenever and I don't intend to have him fuck Charlotte or Michelle any time soon. I don't want to oversaturate sex scenes with Ayana, but I also wanna throw a bone when I can. For me, it's a task of trying to balance out the mindset of a dev as well as the mindset of a player. What do I want as a dev but also what do I know I would want as a player as well.

This is a pet peeve of mine too. So many games do this and it breaks the immersion when the MC fucks a stranger in a disgusting bathroom, shit like that and even I fell into the trap lol. The MC and Ayana used to use condoms, but they've fucked so much that they just stopped when it comes to casual home sex and Ayana takes the pill or the MC will just bust in her mouth or something. And it slipped my mind in the shower scene because they would've used a condom then. They've had all kinds of sex so they know to be safe. I'm glad you brought that up though, cause I need to remember to have him wear a condom when I redo that scene. Condoms aren't fun, but neither are STDs.
Also, not a year. More like a few months. 2 months I believe in the new version. And she wasn't sexually active with her ex either. He didn't even so much as see her in bra and panties. This relationship isn't a focal point in the story, so at no point will you see her ex. The point is how she acted in it and what it means for her.
