That's great and all but at least in CoC1 I experienced the "magic" and this game never gave me that thing that made me like CoC even with all these improvements...
Sequels rarely give you the same feeling as the originals.
You can only have your first time once.

Looks like the thread is being raided by fanboys. Don't get me wrong CoC1 is nothing worthy to be put on the pedestal but it's miles better when it comes to player centric content and feeling like the protagonist yourself and being Chad enough to gain unlimited levels and kick ass without companions, basically power fantasy which I can't wrap my head around why they would be so against in a fantasy fictional medium and make the champ a wimpy beta loser.Actual corruption content and accountability and writers are not being always hostile to critics and add to that the allowance of mods massively improving the game.

If it's a well-made sequel, they can give you their own "magic".
Something even better than the original.

The first one made me feel that I am a character and not a fucking extra like this damn piece of shit with their better graphics, gameplay and "writing".
If the magic of this game is about me feeling like shit then I'd rather not play this damn game.

Eh, I can't really relate. I don't think of the main character as myself, so I don't really care if they arent the center of attention.

Actually, I'd rather the opposite. Blank slates are boring, so I'd much rather characters with actual personalities get the spotlight.

Game is at the 50 percent mark after, what, a little over 3 years?. Its apparently also a little ahead of schedule.
The situation for production could not be more different, they make an ocean of money every month for their little game, they could have likely had it completed a few years back, what once came it from it being a passion project where you had scores of folks from 4chan and elsewhere working for free is now something they will milk until support for it collapses.

So ahead of schedule? For a game where they get paid that well? Is that a joke?

If money and project completion had direct correlation, I'd be reading Winds of Winter right now.

Am I reading Winds of Winter?

NO.

In conclusion, fuck George RR Martin.

FINALLY someone else that really realizes that the less they do, the more money they get. IF anyone could remember when Fen did coc1, we had like Massive content + new chars weekly when he actually did work. Now they just sit back pay some retard a bunch of money to do 1 word a day. :)

Don't give me that bs it is hard, tons and tons of people would do that work and put them to shame and get paid. There was like 1 thousand events/contents/addons/ or w/e you want to call content from all the fans that sent into to Fen for Tits for content and coc1 and 2. IF I remember correctly, he selected like 5 out of there and said he had worked through all the backlog of content, and that was all there was.. . .... :? and a lot of people believed that bs. If he had used all that backlogged content people sent in, the game would be 5x size larger than either of the 2 we have now.

I won't really mind that if they removed us and let us the player just watch the journeys of said characters than letting us create our own bland Mary Sue / Gary Stu MC if they're just going to focus on the others, really.

The whole point of a blank slate is for you to fill it in. The appeal is creating a character to go on this journey, making choices that shape the character, and at the end of it completing an unique character. Are they a hero? A villain? A paladin? A scholar? A thug? A lech? An average person? That's for you to decide. That's why people get upset when choices are taken away and when they force dialogue upon your character that doesn't fit them. You don't have to self-insert but the point of a RPG is that you're suppose to create a character. If you find them boring, then that just mean you didn't put any effort into creating them.

I can’t help but prefer the old companions since they didn’t have that condescending attitude of “this isn’t about you!” that Savin and Tobs like to push. I didn’t have to worry about being cucked or losing out on privileges or being treated like an outsider by my family.
You basically explained why I hate Kinu lmao

How would that work, though? You'd need some way to poke the characters and make them go.

I'd personally like it more if they just gave the MC a more defined character.
Like Shepard from Mass Effect. Created character, but definitely had more of a concrete persona to work with, and thus is a lot more interesting to work into the story.

I get the point of a blank slate character, I just don't think they work well in video games.

I used to play a lot of tabletop RPGs, where you actually start with a blank slate and can freely create and direct your character. That kind of freedom simply isn't possible in a videogame. That kind of character in a video game isn't really "yours", their actions are predetermined from a relatively short list.

I just don't feel any videogame is immersive enough to really roleplay a character that truly yours, which is why I prefer Geralts and Commander Shepards and such.

Its only downhill from here is it?
Eh, that was the peak for me tbh, that's where I lost it and became this cactus fanatic now.
The next ones are pretty much Meh.

Shepard in CoC 1.
Shittard in CocC 2.

Why? Because at least in 1, you had at least experience the power fantasy you want even if it's not a full one.

Or you would be like me and pretend she doesn't exist and that first talk with Kiyoko was some crazed fever dream.
Just get the shy Kinu, at least she gets to marry a better guy and is an overall better version of 'er, I guess.

Don't worry I'm about to lose it too
I didn't expect a porn game to have this much fucking bullshit behind it :HideThePain:
Yeah, looking at the state I am now, I'm a cactus fanatic now and I'm huffing copium like it's as natural as air.

I'm that person who gets attached when the characters are well-written and Kinu was like a dauteru for laifu for me.
No one's gon' marry my damn kid and I'll keep her pure but yeah, Tobs strikes once again.

That would mean dealing with the Kitsune more than I already have done.
Just treat them as living onaholes, it makes it better tbh.
Even a single fragment of care will fuck your head up 'coz of shitsune bullshittery.
