Could be I'm from a different part of the internet, but don't people like that get viewed as the cringiest kind of fans? I'm thinking of the kind of people who made the Reylo ship their entire personality, or the people that'd send in hate mail to the actors and writers on Supernatural for having one of the protagonists chat with an attractive woman for half a second.Now now, let's not just think of this as a "just a porn game" thing.
Think of it more like people who get attached to characters from movies, books or even better, people and their OCs.

That's a different thing, there's just people who likes characters for the sake of just that, liking it then we have the insane "fans", the very same fans who ruin a lot of franchises 'cause moronic people in the higher ups listen to those people.
Those same people are the ones that dove face-first down the depths of delusion and insanity.
Kinda like those parasocial fans of idols in JP or even worse, Netflix writers.
In this game's case it's just annoying 'cause there's no consistency in the PC's character itself, not just the PC tbh if you start digging for more.
Think of this game as the new VELMA and the first game as the old school scooby doo gang, anyone would be mad at this.

Wish they'd get on with the main plot in Khorminos or at least put out the cow stuff already. Last update was the best in a long while but honestly i'm just over the filler. Savin isn't even as boring as Skow or Torbs as a writer (when he's not on in his bullshit) but at this point if it's not William or Wsan i sleep. Like, if you gonna add family shit to obscure characters that probably won't be seeing any more content for the foreseeable future, might as well have done that for the orcs or something. At least they're already established.

Is it really fair to call Torbs boring when I am sure a significant percentage of this thread are messages discussing him as a writer? He may be many things, but he ain't boring, if he can cause this much of a reaction with his stuff. At least in my book.
Do you read all of TOBs marathon dialogues, because my eyes glaze over long before he makes any sort of point?

TOBs might be great as a writer if he had an editor or someone to restrain him. He's the one that seems to do most dungeons. I think he's the one that pushes for puzzles or mini games, since no one else ever really bothers. He attempts to do different writing styles from what the others do, like his attempt at surreal comedy with the psychic harpy. His problem is excess.

Recently playing one of the CoC 1 mods reminded me that the unmodded version of the first CoC didn't really have that many male camp followers. (Or at least males in camp that the PC could have sex with.) Now I'm not sure why I ever expected CoC 2 to have more than 1 or 2 male companions tbh.
The discussions are about how boring the large majority of his writing is, that does not make him interesting. We talk about him alot because he's one of the most prolific writers on the team so we have to deal with his bullshit more than anything else. Every decision he makes is boring: "Hmm, writing stuff that is relevant to the PC and is fun or essay length lore dump about stuff no one cares about?...LORE BABY!"

Most of it is just discussing his actual writing being dogshit and him being a cringe "nasty-minded psychic vampire"(yes I still can't get over that what the actual fuck). He's just a stereotypical shithead with an unchecked ego, I've seen hundreds of those in my life already. He's only sort of interesting because of his complete lack of self-awareness, like lolcows such as Chris-chan.
Even if someone did restrain him, it wouldn't make his writing compelling. None of the characters he writes give you even a slight reason to care about them. They're not charming, they're not interesting, and they're not original barring maybe Rags. Even she's not super interesting, though. He's decent at describing visuals and that's about it. Say what you will about BubbleLord but at least his characters actually manage to make me feel something, even if it is negative 100% of the time. TOBS' writing just makes me want to go do literally anything else.

Yeah, not arguing with that. My point is that his writing is taking itself too seriously despite being pretty awful at times or requiring George Lucas level of editors to make good. It might be bad and exhausting/boring to read, but I wouldn't call shitting on his persona and writing boring. It's something everyone can make fun of. That's what I meant.

I was replying to "why does anyone even feel anything about any porn game they play"
it was a generalization talking about all adult games in general.
To which I replied that the feelings are integral to the experience.
That does not mean that I am still holding a torch for CoC2. I have dropped it years ago and moved on, I am over it. I no longer feel anything for the characters here. Thanks to a conscious effort to detach myself.
So no, I am not holding on to a sinking ship. I am just explaining that the idea that people are supposed to "just enjoy it without any care or attachment for the characters" doesn't work.
Well, with Wsan being in charge of both of them, probably not too soon lol. I can ask on their discord but I'd rather don't be in that place too much.

Honestly, i really like Tobs when he writes anything other than the Kitsune, maybe because i find the lore dumps interesting and some of his characters surprising witty. Most of the kitsune stuff is hit or miss for me tho.
